Thread: Single Pull Ability == Worthless
Yay! Now we'll have an ability that has a chance of doing something we (and pistoleers, and carbineers) are already quite able to do with 100% certainty. Good show Devs! Try playing your game once in a while.
The only boon to rifleman such a change in conceal shot would have is in opening room on our hotbar for another icon.
I think the ability is inate, in that so long as you shoot while prone outside of a certain range (50 meters?) then when the creature aggros it will not bring its freinds. So it may not be another shot, but may give use to Supriseshot do to its good damage and single target nature. And it is allways better to draw 1 target than it is to draw many (even if the ability really does not add much to us, heh, why not ;-)).
They have not directly said that this will be the end of conceal shot or even a change to it, they never even mentioned it, so hopefully it is just an added ability and not a nerf.
But, Rangers in the future are supposed to get "bait" which is designed to lure a single creature from the nest for taming or to attack away from its freinds. So there may be future options for this as well outside of rifle that may actually be even more bennefitial.
Wait, how does this work again? You have to be prone and just 50 meters from your prey? Your saying that if you do that, it's friends won't agro on you?
Or if you shoot it w/ a DOT, then peace out.. do you still get two more free shots on it later on?

From a prone position you get 2 free shots before something aggros you. From kneeling you get 1. If you successfully land a DoT in one of these 'free shots' the creature will not aggro you on the shot. If you then end combat and leave the aggro radius of any friends it may have (but don't run beyond 130m) it will aggro you as soon as the first iteration of the DoT kicks in.
no point in getting worked up over it tho its gonna happen whether we like it or not. and there is no way to find out what the damage and ham cost of the shot is going to be either. who knows it might have a decent ham low speed and decent damage multiplier. there are other aspects than just the basic description.

/emote runs off to try this and is promptly trampled by a heard of piket longhorns
Can I get away w/ MS 1 and MS 2, or is that one too many shots?
And do I also have to PEACE w/ the target, or just back off?

It depends on how quick you are. You have 20 seconds from the time the first DoT lands to get out of aggro range. I find that with my laser rifle I'm able to /prone; /aim; /mindshot2; /mindshot1; /peace; /stand and run outside of 80m before it aggros me. Your mileage may vary. BTW: don't do it with a macro, if you miss the first /mindshot2 you can always switch over to /aim; /mindshot2; /peace; /stand mid-way for more damage.
Yes, you have to peace. If you stay engaged, stand and run away you'll likely end up firing while standing and drawing the whole crowd. Peacing out keeps you from firing when you stand up.
I've been using this for a few weeks now and have only had it fail three times. Two times I had placed my pet on guard while medding up in camp and neglected to store/recall it to clear the command. On each occasion, after the first mind shot my pet went charging in with reckless abandon... The other time was when I discovered the bit about fighting with one; going peace on it and then trying to single pull its friend.
