Thread: What to do when a MOB gets in your face?

Do you guys have a backup plan? I have a carbine that I whip out and start hitting warning shot, while running away.. or if the mob is weak enough I just kill it off w/ the carbine... but I'd like to drop my carbine and pistol tree.. what alternatives are there?

I understand that the best thing to do is kill something before it gets in your face : But these bastards like to warp every now and then so sometimes you got no choice.

I think I read somewhere that swords are good.. or some sort of meele weapon taht hits mind as well..

Normally they don't get in my face very often. If I think I can kill them, I'll try and kite them. If I don't think I can kill them, I'll drop my gun and run. If I don't think I have a possibillity of out running them, I use my macro to remove my armor and take it like a rifleman. I got used to taking dirt naps earlier in my rifleman career. If it's a critter that DBs, guess I did something really wrong or it was worth the risk.

As a Marksman, warning shot is the thing to do (if you have it). I used to keep a CDEF pistol just for this. I dropped that tree, so I don't have that option any more.

As a Scout (or Ranger) Phen Dart is great. Even it doesnt stick the first time, pocket your gun, put your armor on and toss a couple of Phens. You get that to stick, then you can move away, take off armor and start with the Rifle again.

As a CH, sick your pet on him. Even if the pet is tiny, he will probably distract the critter enough for you to get away.

As a pure Rifleman, with none of these supplementary skills... I think Burst Run is your best option. If anything gets within 40 meters you better hit it to be sure. You have the option of "Point Blank Single", but quite frankly I think it fails to do its job about 75% of the time... and it certainly won't help against a big MOB.

This is why Riflemen need something like Pistol Melee Defense. It makes absolutely no sense to give it to Pistoleers and not Riflemen. The butt of a rifle is SOOO much better for knocking stuff down than a stupid little pistol. Don't hold your breath for that though.

Just be of the mind set, that you CAN NOT get meleed... and then do everything you can to prevent it from happening in the first place.

WarningShot is your best friend.

/peace
/stand
/ui action selectTollbar15 (or where your CDEF Pistol is. Just say NO to x2.5 damage)
/ui action targetSelf
/ui action CycleTargetOutward
/warningshot
/pause 1
/peace

This may not be the *exact* commands (syntax should be right though) used but I'm too lazy to conferm them and you get the idea You can omit the bit about the CDEF (I do, I get confused as to wich weapon I'm holding sometimes) if you have armour or a good PSG (as in my case). I also omit the pistol bit so that I can run the macro again for the next closest.

What the hell..

In a goofy mood, was typing out a goofy response, hit the wrong f'n button... anyway..non goofy response.

If the mob is getting to close, warning shot it

If the mob doesn't run away, EITHER

Move to spraystick and flail like a mofo

OR

Drop a root trap and move back into proper range

Of course, if it is a big enough mob that it isn't dead by the time it gets to you, you should have a bleeder on it from the beginning which COULD kill it before it kills you, with or without the root. I find though usually, opening with a bleeder and having a root trap handy gets me out of 90% of the situations.

What, you are not a scout high enough to use a root? SIlly peoples you are.
