Jawa & Stun:

I've been debating with severalCorrespondents regarding the Jawa Ion Rifle. This is not a developer issue or concern of theirs to my knowledge.

A few other Correspondents believe the AP should be removed from the said weapon before or after the weapon balance. They claim stundamageis out of control throughout all aspects of the game. More importantly to us, they claimRifleman have more advantage with stun, due to our damage and the Jawa's AP. Obviously, I've defended the AP of our Jawa and disagree with them.

My final stand on the issue with them isleave it alone or if it must be messed with, I would rather see the Jawa Certification moved to the Master Box or into Concealment IV before we would see any possible change to it's AP. If any problem I could see with the Jawa (which was briefly touched on) is the access to it in the marksman tree. Concerns of it's availabilty to dabblers and flavor of the month templates is an issue to ponder.

No developer has responded to the debate or the thread. It's only 3-4 Correspondentsdebating so it's not on the table at this time for any kind of change.

The Status:

I have contiuned to reinforce my side of the debateto theseCorrespondents, with the upcoming balances point. We do not know what the combat and weapon balances will bring to all the combat professions. I still believe these balances will bring the answer to many woes and concerns we all have with combat in SWG.

To those that wish to see us nerfed:

I strongly feel that nothing needs to be adjusted or taken away from Rifleman without a complete revamp of our profession. We need to know who we are and why weare littered with faulty specials that don't reflect our current state. We need to know the vision the development team had for Rifleman when created and we need to know what the development team now envisions for us. Sniper or Heavy Gunner?

I rally behind a complete revamp and rediffenition if any change is to come our way. I refuse to allow Rifleman to be touched without first defining our profession and reviewing our In Concept threads. We have long stood our ground as a community and as profession, crying nerf will not do anything to assist any other profession or SWG. We have not changed. The upcoming balances will and should define SWG combat professions.Till then, I see no reason to assist or reason with any change to Rifleman at this time. This includes any rumors or thoughts of adjusting our speed.

Might be slighty off topic, but with the delay of the combat balance surely we can't use the "wait for the combat balance" line.

Personally I can see PvP turning into CM or melee only if rifle is brought down to the level of carbine and pistol.

Very nice, Keep up the good work
I personally wouldnt mind moving the Jawa Cert to another box, at least to Novice.
The Stun damage is a little crazy, but its so fun to use.

What about reducing its range or the accuracy mods instead? It is an obscenely powerful weapon, considering it is the only stun damage weapon that can be enhanced with the most common of uber loot drops (krayt tissues). Geo pistol doesn't really count yet, since it's, y'know, almost impossible to get. It looks kinda like it'd be really inaccurate, and not shoot very far, at least appearance-wise. Y'never know how the combat balance is going to pan out though.

Well stun is the most powerful damage type thanks to it being the bane of armor across the boards. How about getting the armorsmith in on this discussion of how stun can be brought down a notch on the "OMG NERF!!!!" list. And if that doesn't work you can stun them all and let Delta skin 'em (I'm on bloodfin and he's kinda talking about the rifleman debate in there in a sense. At least he mentioned that he is a MRM, that understands our profession, and is on your side) If composite was the same as it is but is vuln to stun all the time, and lets say padded was given comp lvl stun resistance and high lvl other resists but vuln to (acid ?) there you go. Stun can be easily brought down to nominal and we can see people that look different running around in a battle!

Also bring up how horrible we have it if we aren't buffed, in comparison to say carbineer or pistoler. They want us to have some major cons to our abilities let our HAM cost count again. I still don't understand why I can fire SS2 with 0 cost.

Yeah, but then you'll have docs whimpering that buffs were nerfed (which they desperately need), chefs that their food was nerfed, etc. Of course, the combat balance, as I understand it, will add a "special attack" bar, which your specials drain out of, determined by your secondaries, so it's happenin' anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the AP only come into effect if the armor has stun resist? I ask because most composite doesn't, so in those cases it wouldn't matter.

At any rate, I don't see why the Jawa should be reduced to AP0. Pistoleers now have their own ion gun, and some of those I've seen have better damage than my Jawa does.

Accuracy is alreadyrather poorwith no way to improve it (no optional scope/stock slots) and reducing range to 48m probably wouldn't change PVP dynamics since it seems like nearly every battle takes place at 32m or less.

Klaw, they uh, do know that AP only occurs if the target is Stun Resist right?

Let em make it AP 0. Then laugh at em as we tear through em anyway.

If anyone needs proof it is AP 0 against Vulnerable armor, have them make a Char on Tarq.I know a couple people that would be HAPPY to demonstrate with methat the overpowered nature of the Jawa comes from Composites weakness, rather than Jawa's strength.

Give em AP 0. If it keeps all the other BS away for a while longer (Until they wake up to the real issues with Riflemen) more power to em for chasing the wrong goose. On the other hand, Pistoleers, Fencers, Riflemen, and sometimes BH, and Commandos can all deal stun damage. I see no real reason why a Commando even has a Pistol, since he gets no Mods for it, but thats an issue in itself. Throw Carbine a stun weapon, along with swordsman and pikeman, and I garuntee the armor issues would not be around anymore. Basically every Elite class should have access to every type of damage at some point in the Trees.

The only class Isee an issue with this is TKA. Fists are...well Kinetic. Dunno how togive them acess to other damage types, unless you make certain attacks different damage types. But then you have to figure out how a TKA hits for Heat damage. But hey, if we can have wood staffs that deal a Mind Fire DOT, I don't see the issue since we already have whacky damage weapons *cough*Rilfeshootingbulletswhiledealingenergydamage*cough*.

You think that AP1 doesn't make a difference to a 36% stunlayered suit of armor? I assure you, it does.

So you wont be able to totally rip through Comp and will have to deal with it having decent to resists like 90% (Well prolly 60% with all the jumpers) of the rest of people out there in the game. I'll gladly give AP up on one weapon if it stops people from throwing a 3 second cap on my ass.

Don't be greedy.
