Pleaes provide your feedback on how to best solo a Krayt Dragon. Due to the high prices of pearls, I must turn to hunting krayts myself in order to keep my jedi supplied with pearls. Here's what I'm thinking of:

Go Two-handed with a nice Power Hammer and Uber Ubese armour. They solo Krayts much better than Riflemen.

Oh and defense stack, and macro a COB infinite loop.

Here's what I'd like feedback on...

Rifleman template:

Anything else I'm forgetting? I'd hunt in a party, but find that it's difficult to compete for the loot. I'd much rather just hunt solo.

Thanks for your help.

Template:

2040 Medic

Or

4040 Doc

3000 Fencer

No but seriously: if you pick one of the above templates you can keep the dragon intimidated which really helps.

If you pick the MR/MHS then you can switch to swords, turn on COB and heal once you need to but MR with T-21 outdamage MHS so try and do damage as MR.

If you pick the 4040 Doc, then you can clear stun and dizzy from yourself + heal for tons of HAM with stim Es. Having an ancient dizzy/KD you isn't very nice.

Also, if you can get a DOT-rifle, use it! It's not much damage but if you're fighting an ancient, every bit counts untill it starts to drop resists.

DoTs dmgdosent count for lowering the resists.....examble.....you can poison an ancient krayt dragon down to 100k ham then shoot the rest with a rifle and the resists wont lower at all

Thanks for the info, didn't know.

But it still helps doing a few hundred damage extra every 10 seconds.

Good suggestions. What do you think of this:

Template:

Rifleman/Swordsman

Medic 0040 (med use +40)

Fencer 1030 (gives melee damage mitgation 2 and melee defense +87)

Question:

Is it better to go formelee damage mitigation +2 withmelee defense +87, or set aside mitigation and go for melee defense +114?

I'm thinking it might be nice to have melee mitigation +2 and melee defense +87. Might be better than +114 defense by itself.

Thoughts?

But you'll get melee damage mitigation 3 with MHS

Good point. I missed that. Ok, I'm going to go with the Rifleman/Swordsman template and see how it goes. I'm already a novice swordsman, so shouldn't take too long to level up. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for your feedback!

Np. I was that before I decided to PvP more and got Doc and it's a blast. You'll do more damage than anyone to anything since all you're using is ap2 or 3 and so many damage types to choose from.

The problem with MHS is that you do much less damage than a MR. The medium AP powerhammer just can't compete with the heavy AP T21. So yes you can tank better as a MHS, but you can't get a kill like that (unless you're grouped, most likely with riflemen, or the rare case where nobody else is around the graveyard). So for damage the MHS is fairly pointless (because you want to be using a rifle always anyway), and doesn't have much purpose outside of damage. I just don't see how you would possibly want to hit a krayt with a power hammer when you can use a T21 isntead.

There's basically 2 or 3 choices that I'd go with for krayts. First is Master Rifle/Master doc. The primary purpose of doc is for buffing. It's really nice not having to leave the graveyard to get rebuffed. Less time elsewhere is more time you could be killing a krayt. While this does lack defenses, I've found that I am perfectly capable of tanking and killing any krayt up to a giant solo. With good armor and the regular assortment of foods, you should have no problem tanking. With +7 in tapes and a good t21, there's nobody that can do more damage than you. Competing against groups will always be a problem, but unless they consist of speed capped riflemen, you still have good odds of getting the kill (obviously depends on the size of the group though).

Second choice lacks the convenience of being able to self buff but has more defenses. This is good if you know it's not going to be a major problem getting buffs. I'd go with Master Rifleman, Master Fencer, and novice medic to start with, and probably go up the pistol stances tree for more defenses. Taking pistol special abilities I will add a little melee defense if you want it. Throw the rest into medic or whatever you want. This has the hitting power of rifleman, along with excelent defenses. You'll have melee mitigation 3 from master fencer, 114 or 124 melee def (depending on if you took pistol abilities, you could get 125 if you took II, but that's not worth it realy), plus great def vs kd/dizzy which comes in handy for giants. However much medic you take is more than enough to handle the health and action damage you take.

Third choice is just something I was thinking about trying. That's Master Rifleman/Master combat medic. While I've never actually tried this, it does seem like it would work pretty well. Combat Medic can add even more dps ontop of the T21, which means a faster kill, but more importantly it means a greater chance to get looting rights. In general PVE CM damage is pretty pathetic in comparison to normal weapons, but against the heavy defenses of krayts (which have no impact on a CM) the damage isn't as bad. It's certainly not doing any harm to your already excelent Rifleman dps.

The general point I want to make is that you should never have to use anything other than a rifle to attack a krayt. So any profession you add on to rifleman should augment your ability to use a T21 to kill a krayt.

You're right in that one should never use anything less than a t-21 to attack a krayt. And also that fencer/rifleman might make a greater _solo_ kraytkiller (cause of the extra defenses vs. states compared to MHS). However, once someone wants to move outside the graveyard MHS is much more effective. And since I guess he not _only_ wants to stay there, I'm 100% certain that the best PvE killer overall is a MR/MHS with def tree from fencer or tka and 2040 Medic.
