Thread: Soling Krayt Dragons Feedback Please

very interesting what you guys are saying: that you should use a t-21 to dmg a krayt


dont you take 2.5x more dmg if you are holding a rifle and being melee attacked??? i know that swordsman take them out in about 10 minutes, how about rifleman?

He said the purpose of the character is to solo krayts to get pearls for his jedi. So while I absolutely agree that MR/MHS is a great PvE template, it doesn't seem like he wants the char to do anything other than kill krayts.

But since, for the purpose, all that fencer gives is def. vs. some states, I suggested swordsman

Master Rifle/Master Doctor/Novice brawler.


Intim it with brawler, get +7 in Rifle speed tapes and spam Strafe2 or Headshot3 with a 700+ damage T21. If you are into the whole KSing thing(I have no problem with it), you can spam this and have the other group tank for you while you get the loot. Dishonorable, maybe, pearl prices on Shadowfire, more dishonorable.


If you are gonna hunt when the graveyard is empty(ideal time), just Intim the Krayt with full 90 comp and have a macro to heal your states and ham, use the same stragety as above.


If you are into exploiting(Something I do have a problem with), walk up and down a very big hill very slowly while spamming the attacks. I know of a Master Commando/TKM by the name of Cootz on SF that does this all the time and gets about 3 pearls a day apparently.

On a side note if you don't have uber armor and equiptment you can always conceal shot it. This will take much longer, but if the Krayt agros you, have your bike out, hop on, ride out of agro and repeat. Although Krayts are notorious for despawning when you do this.

Thats my buddies template, and I have wathing him solo plenty of krayts, its all about the quadruple mind bleed stack. Yes bleeds are now officially sucky, but over the time it takes to kill a krayt, thats a lot of bleeding. Granted it totally destroys a suit of composite armor over the ... 30min or so it takes of a pounding. But seeing it happen in person is pretty impressive. And they though making tough creature tougher would stop the soloing, we can do it... it just take a little longer.

Intimidation 2 from master brawler is really good too.
Intimidation halfs the damage output. Intimidation 1 lasts for 10 seconds and can be re-applied after 30sec, so the krayt will only be intimidated 1/3 of the time.
Intimidation 2 lasts for 20sec and can be re-applied every 30sec, so the krayt will be intimidated 2/3 of the time.

Might be worth dumping the TK stuff for master brawler... not sure.. just a thought...

The 2.5x dmg multiplier is gone. In it's place is a + to hit for the melee opponent.

Great conversation everyone. It's really nice to hear all the feedback. To answer a few questions...


Purpose of build:

To create a char that can solo krayt dragons for puropse supplying my jedi with pearls.


Multi-use char:

Char to be used for PVE and solo krayt hunting. I'd like to be able to do geo caves, corvette, etc as well as krayt hunting.


Current build status:

Master Rifleman

Novice Fencer

Novice Swordsman

I can go either way. Was grinding on Swordsman last night, but I can still go Master Fencer. I like the idea of focusing everything on T21. Less complex, keeps engagement simple and enables me to really focus on just Rifleman. Adding MHS can possibly provide great multi-purpose flexibility, which is cool. I need to track down some rifelman speed tapes. Let me know if you have any for sale.


Strategy and Tactics:

Would like to hear more onkrayt engagement strategy/tactics...conceal shot vs strafe2/mindshot3, etc. I have a second account that's a master doc, so will be self buffing. I can stage doc at mos krayt for easy access.

hey bud

you could always go swords/rifle/smuggler for the mind bleeds then FD away, maybe even throw in pikemen for some mind dot lances, but I really havent played with bleeds much since theyve been nerfed so I dont know if this is a valid tactic or not

back in the day i would solo krayts using pistol, both health shots, bh bleed shot, and bh fire then FD. FD itself works fine on the krayts tho

Rifleman/Ch Ranger 0020


Get a Be pets with high kinetic resists and as much ham as possible. Id go for kimos. Use these to tank for you, ranger area track lets you find em with ease. No medic but eh if you do it right you wont need to heal.

Well i am going for a new combo after i master Riflewookiee, its gonna be master brawler/master swordsman/master TKA and some medical skill with the very few points left. Hit with a powerhammer, get insane defences, good attacks, its a good combo, but i have to test it out...
