The last thing Rifleman is getting is a new damage type.
I hate to say it, but i have to agree. Im a master rifleman myself, and while i dont want to nerf us i think we are right where we should be.
Ya, I doubt we'll be getting much in the way of new damage types for a looooong time
For the best, I suppose.
BTW, I didn't understand Restraint 'damage'for a long time either. Force-powers do fall under that category, I'd say, but in general, Restraint it stuff like Warcry(restrains movement), Intimidate(restrains lots of damage), Blind(restrains accuracy), etc...![]()

The damage type "restraint" is caused by force powers.Forcechoke, etc. There aren't any player weapons in the game that cause it (although the tangle pistol would be my obvious choice for one). Blind and intimidate are status effects which use your def vs. modifiers.

I'm not sure Knockdown is classed as restraint, for example Protectors have 15.0% to restraint, but it's impossible almost to get them Knockdowned..

Restraint is not a damage 'type'. At least in the same way as Blast or Kinetic are. Why doesn't armor have protection against Restraint? Because your modifiers decide whether or not it affects you as you stated. But in PvE, enemies don't 'wear' armor even if they have armor ratings, so they get "Def. vs. 'Restraint' " which lumps everything that Blinds/Dizzies/Intimidates, etc. into one damage 'type'. That way, NS Elders and other tough enemieswon't get Dizzy/KD'd + Intimidated + Warcry'd every time you try.
Restraint is a damage type. It shows when you examine any MOB. However there are no weapons that currently do this damage type. I believe that the early tangle pistols did, just like the early Tusken Rifles were kinetic. But they were changed.
Restraint is not status defenses. That is seperate. The reason that status effects don't work well against high end MOB's isn't because of their restraint resits, it's because they have a high defense in that status. It's how the Devs decided to make those MOBs difficult. But you can't see the high defense stats when you "examine" them. Only their resists show.
Restraint may be used in relation to Force Powers. Some testing would have to be done to see if that is so. Should be easy to do. Just have someone look at a MOB, use a Force Power, then compare combat spam with the floaty damage. See if there is a reduction and if so if it's in relation to the Resist % of the MOB.
More likely Restraint was a damage type that was removed from weapons. But they never updated the MOB's to remove it. No reason to really, it would just clean up the coding some maybe. But it also doesn't hurt anything to leave it in.
