Thread: My take on the proposed changes
The short answer, I dont like it.
The main reason why I dont is they are changing the rules half way through the game, and in my opinion that isnt very fair. These are fundamental changes to the way we play the game, we are basicly going to be playing a game with a totally diffrent combat system if and when these changes take place.
It was explained that we will have a cap of 3 sec. What was not explained is how will our special multiplier will work. Will it still be based off of 1 sec or will our multiplier be based off a 3 sec base? Will having +100 speed now not matter, seeing that I can shoot SS2 at roughly 3 sec now with a 9 sec T21 and +90 speed?
Another thing they have not taken into consideration is the damage to normal HAM ratio. Right now a Pistoleer can do 250-300 with stoping shot in PvP, they would now be able to do this 6 times to our one shot. They would have to give us one shot capability to equal that, and I know they dont want to. They say they will raise our damage, but realisticly when they start testing thier idotic changes they will realize they cant. Basicly they have given each player such a small pool of "hit points" that they are very limited on how they can go about increasing damage.
To fix our inferior accuracy they will force us to be stuck in a prone position, news flash devs but that is sucidal. Any respected PvP will agree that standing still is a death wish, and giving us some extra D, and accuracy will not change that. The devs dont understand that it only takes secounds for someone to close from 64 meters. It might sound like a great idea on paper, but it will not work when implimented.
I am not going to kid myself and imagine the devs will get a clue and think twice about these changes, I am pretty much expecting them to happend. I dont care if I have to drop Master Rifleman for something else, I have always imagined I would have to redo my template a few times because of Nerfs. What does bother me is the devs have continued to demonstrate their ignorance when it comes to their own game.
My God this is sad, thats all I can say. I'm normally a very optimistic person but this 3 second S___ is sick!
Do we have a longer range? No
Do we have Uber damage that costs us very little out of HAM? No
Do we have an ability to hide us from radar? No
Can we attack MOB's Without them BAF? No
Will this help us get XP while grouping? No it will make it worse
Are we an overpowered class? No
Why are they Nerfing us further?
Most people will be shocked that I posted such a negative post, when 99% of my posts are against the people that want to turn Rifleman into something it is not, or totally overpower our class. Well I see these changes by the devs doing the same thing but in a opposite way. They are effectively changing our class, and in the process making us weaker. Even if they were making us stronger I would be arguing against these changes because they are turning this profession into something it was not when we all started leveling. These changes are not minor tweaks, they are in my mind making a brand new profession, but just keeping the same name.
Quick Qucik everyone
SILVERLOBO STANDS UNITED WITH US FOR ONCE!!!
Is it the fact that they are going to make Master Rifleman not much better than Novice?
This proposed change has killed the rifleman profession, simple as that.
Im off to Valcyn to work on my Combat Medic / Rifleman
ahh crap, its rifle as well
"My proposal is that we implement a variable speed cap based off of the weapon. So pistoleers and 1hswords would use a .5 second speed cap, while riflemen/pikemen would have a 3 second minimum speed."
This was the part that mde me laugh. If they do this pistoleers will beable to fire 6 shots to a riflemans 1.
1 second pistol cap versus a 3 second rifle sounds FAR more balanced to me. In a pvp situation .5 speed would make pistoleers overpowered.
Where are the proposed changes posted at? I am VERY curious.

How can something that hasn't even happened, may never happen, kill a profession?
Most of the complaints are not taking into account that these are not final changes, they aren't even on the test server. Most of the complaints are taking in the pieces of the proposal selectively and disregarding the changes that would help or could be tweaked. My only gripe with the changes that may never be implemented is that what they are proposing could drastically change the class I started with. I can see though, that the gameneeds a more intuitive systemto help equalizethe professions.Otherwise the changeswould make the system more flexible and actually does provide counter-balances to the most obvious problems, it's a good start.
"Riflewhat? Oh riflemen ya I heard tell of some of them back in the old days. Were pretty good too supposedly but then they were just sorta swept under the rug and called a bug. Some are still around folks say, living out in the Jundland wastes, or off in the Agrilat swamplands. Some peopleeven say that on clear nights you can hear them scream out in pain as the attempt to kill a durni but get incapacitated as a result of it. "
Aaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha, sad but true.
Let me rephrase
If they changes come in as described we are finished as a profession.
They will implement this system, mark my words, and then rifleman will be no more.
Hell Rifleman, will be rarer than jedi!!
