Thread: Is Rifleman anything good for grinding Force XP??

Im working on Master Rifleman and Master Doctor. But I'm eager to get a Jedi Intiate.

The point is, is Rilfeman suitable for grinding Force XP? I think all the ranged skills u achieve in doing the Rifleman Tree are not very usable for a Jedi, and the XP gaining is quite slow, when I see those TK players, not even master, they gain xp like hell. So the point is, should I stick to Rifleman, or should I work on Teras Kasi to get decent melee skills?

Currently I am at Rifleman 1121, and working for Headshot 3.

If you decide to attain Master Rifleman the xp will come in buckets.

Is Master Rifleman really such a burner. Right now its quite good, but I have a real problem to kill lairs or flags. These 64k HAM is annoying, its almost 2 to 3 minutes until I destroy those nasty things. Stormtroopers np. Creatures are a problem, cause they always do melee combat and in melee im not quite good (except Headshot 2 wich is quite good at point blank dont know why .

Lets see when I make my master Rifleman I heard the skill jump is quite high

For creatures, get a non-CH lvl 10 pet and use it to tank for you.

Use the AE's, buy Counter-Sniping III ASAP, forget all the other stuff. This is the fastest way to get exp.

As for killing lairs, I have this problem too. I bought a spraystick just for lairs, so I don't ruin my t21 or dxr6b. I just use the spraystick on the lairs and spam specials, but it still takes way too long. I'm going to look into getting a junk t21 or something for them. It really is extremely annoying to spend 5 mins afk shooting a lair. I guess at Master, I'll be faster and hit harder... maybe it won't be so bad... getting close to there now...

Ah, the advantages of being TKM/rifle.

Rifle definitely doesn't do as much damage to a lair or flag as TKM does. Dunno why, don't care. I just break out the kung fu and move on.

it takes me 10-20 seconds to kill a lair with strafe2 using my T21, so I don't know whats up with that.

And yeah, rifleman is very good for grinding force xp, especially if you are speed capped. Dishing out 2-3k per second = win.

@kenobi and all the others

What exactly is speed cap. Im just new to SWG, and 2 Master Rifleman said to me rifle speed is almost negligible when u are master. Why? If I have a very good T21 with about 500 max damage but speed about 7.8 and a dxr-6b with 330 max damage but 3.4 speed, I know whats the best for me. So what is speed cap. Can someone explain it to me pls???

Riflemen has the highest DPS of any profession (including swordsmen), in the past and still in PVE, but gets lower defense mods than melee profsto make up for it. A speed capped master riflemen is a master with +7 extra speed, either from +7 in speed SEA's, or +5 from master marksmen and +2 in SEA's, or +7 from FS skills.

I think I found it by myself

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=rifleman&message.id=23143

I made a little equation for my own to find out the speedcap of a weapon

So:

x = Skillpoints u need to hit speedcap
y = base weapon speed

x = 100 - (100/y)

Quite simple

the difference between rifles and TKM for PVE is the fact that You can start the engagement at 64m and most things with 10k ham will die before it reaches you.

with TKM you have to ride up or run up to the creature consuming valuable time and initiate an attack. then if the critter starts running off you have to either waste time chasing it down, or write it off and leave it, or wait for it to return.

TKM has the same speed cap as rifle and in PVE cannot compair to DPS of a even a poor T21. for TKM to compete in PVE they have to use a non-AOE attack. TKM AOE is not a very high damage skill and while damage is greatly reduced by TKM defenses these are not really needed in a pure XP grind.

takes me about 45 to 50 minutes to max rifle XP. i would say after being a TKM for a while and also being rifle rifle is vastly superior to TKM in just about every way for PVE.

of course rifle is the only ranged profession that is working correctly

"takes me about 45 to 50 minutes to max rifle XP"

I've heard some pretty crazy numbers for maxing out rifle exp, but this one is amazing. How do you manage to max out in such a short time?

900,000 exp in 45 minutes. At 5k per kill, thats 4 kills per minute. Easy enough to find 5k mobs on Dath, butthey can be veryspaced out. Are you doing this at the Geo caves? Rancor Valley?
