So I've dabbled with Master Carbineer/Master Fencer, sure the template is pretty nice, but I mean Rifleman has really always intrigued me. All i ask to know is.. is it a wise choice from a Riflemans point of view? I do plan on keeping Fencer, or I might go swordsman, still pretty iffy. Any opinions would b appreciated. I wanna deal enough damage on the PvP side, but also the PvE aspect.

Rifleman is ludicrously overpowered. Pop a couple of brandies and a muon while buffed, and you deal the most damage of any class. Unbuffed is another story...

Rifleman is a good class. But unlike mrfunsocks, i think is a well balanced class. Rifleman has it weakness that when you learn to overcome youll do good. Oh and mrfunsocks, quit being so negative on rifleman, you just need to learn how to fight against them. Some fixes on mind damage and ham in pvp will change alot so quit being a little girl and whine on these boards.

Well you'll pretty much have to be using at least 2 good brandy, and sometimes canape and muon as well to do well. The exception is if you're an 1100/100/600 mind unarmored human.

Nevek, I AM a rifleman, and I know how to defeat them as a BH. However, it's dependant on them not shooting at me, because nothing can make me live any longer than 4-5 shots from a rifleman with a good T21. NOTHING.

Yes, but that is because they are buffed beyond any sane level that anyone should be able to reach so that their shots cost 0, our insanely high HAM costs are supposed to be a negative to the class, and their targettable bars (for the other profs)are inflated more then a hot air baloon. Thanks to these buffs they are also able to wear armor (something that we can't do if unbuffed) which itself is almost invulnerable.

When we are decked out like that then yes, we are overpowered. But then I feel that when anyone is decked out like that they are overpowered, it's just that we are a little bit more-so since we do high damage shots and to an unhealable pool. Give us back the cons that buffs and armor take away (mainly buffs) and we are balanced. Actually attack me without buffs and you not having buffs and you will have a good chance of killing me more often. Hell PvP is basically fixed with that little change, just need toimplement psyco's armor idea on top of it...not me, the other psyco.

Rifleman is a pretty strong profession yes, we do very well in combat but there are many, many ways to beat us. Overpowered?

Nope, we fall pretty quick against melee profs, I dont mind that though, it is our weakness. We are not supposed to rock in close combat.

Riflemen is VERY lethal working with a group since then they can keep some distance to their target, but on our own we tend to be slightly less powerfull since then they can make sure to get in close range.

Against other ranged professions, we atm emerge victorious most of the times 1vs1 but not always.

But sure, if we fight a unarmored enemy without any mind buffs we will win 98% of the times, but then again, thatjust dont apply to rifleman only, would you fight a TKM unbuffed?

I kill TKAs pretty well with my rifleman, and I only have some crappy T21 I got off a vendor somewhere. With a krayted T21 and jawa, that's about all you need for PvP. It only takes 4-5 shots to drop someone with a fully buffed mind bar and good armor. That's 4-5 seconds if you have speed tapes. Buffs make rifleman not only incredibly strong off the initial, but that power persists. Even without buffs, you can get a good 6-7 shots off, enough to kill most people.

yes and they are changing the mind bar to not be a special damage area.

so cool your jets.

and as for rifleman being overpowered, no we are not, we are meant to be the damage dealers, pistols have great def mods except for range, and carbines do kd.

so you have to take the strengths of the classes with the bad, like no kd or delay shots, and no defense for kd.

and dont give me crap about food for kd, were rifleman and already have our bellies full.

and as for defense stacking, well rifleman can only stack defensivley, while pistols and carbines can go defensively of offensively.

the prob with the game right now isnt rifleman its buffs (gonna get looked into), armor (getting revamped eventually) that makes most weapons useless, and the mind is such a great pool to shoot at (getting changed).

I dropped Carbineer for Rifleman less than one week ago. Let's just say that Carbineer is still very broken. Carbines are very slow for the damage that they do. Point blank single 1 with a laser riflehas thesame DPS asburst shot with anEE3 carbine up until you are almost master. Carbineer weapons suck and that is what makes them broken. Rifles fire faster than carbines and do more damage. Pistols fire faster than carbines and do more damage.....

Both professions have insane HAM cost issues. However, if you go Rifleman don't plan on wearing heavy armor. With 2 vasarian brandies, and a vagnarian canape food I still need muon to use specials with heavy armor on. Thisis not convienient at all, so I either wear just a stun helmet, or a set of stormie armor with an experimental shield generator so I can look cool

your missing the point mrfunsocks....

rifles main advantage is damage and accuracy.

and as ive said the mind damage thing is changeing so that is a moot argument.

the only thing that kills pvp (and why so many have gone to rifleman) is the buffs (which kill pistols and carbines) and armor (again kills pistols and carbines)

when these 2 things get changed all will be more in line.

the thing the other 2 classes beat us out in is special abilities (kd and delay) none of which the rifles have....

our specials suck butt...

except for damage but then again its what rifles are all about...

our ham cost was to keep us inline but the massive buffing that is going on is killing it but they have it planned on the multi publish revamp of the system.

so why dont u give them a chance to change these 2 things and well see a big difference.

plus block dosent compare to dodge......anyday of the week... block 1/2 damage (and its only 80 and doesnt work) while pistols get no damage and at 105.

there are differnces....

Good points Nevek,

And they are missing a point too.

Pistoleer and Carbines suck because people just like our mrfunsocks ran around whining about bleeds and bleed stacking.

So now bleeds are worthless and it took away a big part of the professions power.

Also, if you get killed in PVP by a T 21 then you are an idiot who does not need to be involved in the GCW.

If you want to throw stones at riflemen, do it right and point to the stun headshots like everyone else.

I personally wouldn't mind taking away any + mods at 0 range , and there is a reason for that...

THE REASON IS BECAUSE MAYBE 6% OF RIFLES CRAFTED HAVE GOOD MODS AT 0%.

Yeah, clearly you guys miss the point... Buffs exacerbate the problem, since a rifleman can continually deal out damage. However, he can still EASILY kill someone with no buffs when he has no buffs. 4 shots, that's all it takes with a good T21. And there's nothing they can do about it, aside from stack ranged defense or dodge. How's this, lets go through the screenshots of peoples' T21s, find the guy with the best T21. Then take the damage multiplier of strafe2, and take into account 80% energy resist composite (which is rather rare/expensive) and an average unbuffed stat pool of 900. Then lets calculate how many hits he can take. I dare you to do that, then tell me rifleman isn't overpowered.
