Buried in the combat upgrade notes you will find a statement by the Dev's that Death Blows will no longer be able to be done at range....
Why?
Why is my ranged combat profession forced to run up into melee range, where I am weakest, and DB my target? If ranged is forced into melee to DB, then melee needs to be forced to ranged to DB to balance things out, otherwise PvP advantage goes to melee professions with this change.
In one on one this isn't a problem, but in multi-player PvP it becomes an issue. This issue needs brought up, and soon, before this goes live.
Ranged combat should be able to range DB!

Melee will have the advantage to deathblow, but as I see it...ranged will have the advantage to disrupt a person Deathblowing someone

Melee has always had the advantage in PvP, the only thing we get for defenses that they don't get (usually 5 times better) is ranged mitigation. But we'll see what exaclty happens when we actually get the curb.

How long, do you think, before the Melee types complain about all the wounds because ranged triple incaps instead of DBing?
I understand how roles are supposed to redefine combat, but DB is for everyone, not just the melee types. Saying that you have to close to melee range to DB just isn't fair. After all, if we have to move up to DB, then melee will be at a double advantage of being able to DB from their normal range plus having the ranged run up into their group gives them advantage in disrupting DB's as well as overall combat.
Its not balanced.
You want to slow down ranged DBs vs melee DBs? Fine, I find that fair. It gives the melee types time to run up to a ranged combatant during the DB wind up and disrupt him and balances out the ability of ranged to DB without moving. Heck, make DBs possible for all combat types according to their ideal ranges. Rifle would DB from 50 to 64, Carbine from 24 to 50, Pistol from 8 to 24.....if you aren't in that range, you can't DB...
Anything but making the DB the exclusive domain of melee combatants. Otherwise, the above poster is right. I'll use AOE attacks to triple incap anyone who doesn't fall dead next to me and dang the complains of over-wounding....

Yeah, but I'm a TK/Rifle....
I was always a Rifleman of the Machinegun school.....I preferred laying down fire while my buddies moved in for the assault but it appears that I will have to change gears and take on a sniper mindset.
Still, this points out more than ever the need for a ranged DB. Rifle are only going to be effective at range and, apparently, prone. Standing up and running to the battleline to DB someone goes against the style of the Rifleman profession and it makes no sense to make DB a melee only action.

... and I have no problem with that. As the poster above indicated, laying down strafing fire is more from the machine gun school, and so appropriately enough will probably end up a Commando approach to combat. Rifles as rifles is fine with me, so long as the level of damage we're dishng out to individual targets is truly of the "nuker" variety... It does make me wonder about the "3" we supposedly rate in Crowd Control... is that because we have posture-affecting attacks? If they're not useful against multiple mobs, they're not nearly as effective for crowd control purposes.
