MINDSHOTS 101: HOW MINDSHOTS WORK
Here is how Mindshots work. This is an imaginary sequence of events that should accurately reflect what will happen in SWG.
In this example, the following rules apply:
-- Timer starts from 0 when you first pull the trigger.
-- You fire MS2, then MS1, then another MS2 and another MS1.
-- Assume creature just stands there so you can see what happens.
00 seconds: You fire first mindshot 2 (MS2) and hit for 900 pts.
NO DAMAGE OCCURS ON THIS SHOT. Creatures HAM bars do not change.
04 seconds: You fire first Mindshot 1 (MS1) and hit for 522 pts.
NO DAMAGE OCCURS ON THIS SHOT. Creatures HAM bars do not change.
20 seconds: first bleed (or "tick") of your MS2 occurs: Creature loses -900 Mind.
24 seconds: first bleed (or "tick") of your MS1 occurs: Creature loses -522 Mind.
30 seconds: You decide to fire a second MS2, hit for 855 pts.
This shotisIGNORED because new value is LESS than original MS2.
35 seconds: You decide to fire a second MS1 and hit for 711 pts.
This shot REPLACES the first MS1 because the damage is greater.
NO damage occurs to creature with this new shot.
40 seconds: Second bleed from original MS2 occurs. Creature loses another -900 mind.
55 seconds: First bleed from SECOND MS1 occurs. Creature loses -711 pts. mind.
Other Notes:
-Bleeds by themselves do not give you XP. In order to get XP you MUST shoot the creature with any other rifle shot that does immediate damage, such as a Head Shot.
- My bleeds occurred exactly 20 seconds apart. I do not have proof that this is the same for everyone, but think it is.
These are really nice Wayne, I am no master but I don't consider myself a newb either(who really does), I like reading this type of post. I have found out some new info, and help increase my optimization of play time.
Is it too late to enroll in Counter-sniping 301: Advanced Flushing Techniques? Getting close to obtaining it and would like to see your tips on it.

I was told that you had to use MS1, THEN MS2. If this is truly the way to do it, I'm changing my macro tonight =)
Iuse MS2 first and it works fine. They're totally independent of each other so it won't matter how you do it.

Another note would be that the level one bleed ticks every 20 seconds for two minutes, the level two bleeds tick every 20 seconds for three minutes.
Thanks, Citairen_Mugarrii...
I knew the bleeds stopped after a point, but I wasnt sure how that was determined.
Interesting! I will add it to my notes.
especially the thing with 20sec-ticks and 2min/3min on MS1,MS2. Now i even can calculate the bleeding-damage after the shot really fast ((MS2-damage * 9) + (MS1-damage * 6) + all other shots in 3 min).
I'd really love to see more of this (and on other rifleman-specials).
It should be noticed, that at least the bleeding seems to behave like a shot, so it let's the creature agro you while prone after some time (or if you, like me use HS1 first for ensuring to get the XPs/Harvest-/Loot-Rights).
so my (novice-) macro looks like this:
/prone
/MS2
/MS1
/HS2 (hitting peace and waiting for bleed doesnt help as you just get 10 secs more befor creature attacks)
/stand
/change2pistol
/warningshot (and hope it doesnt miss, else abort macro, keep pistol, start healing, run, try warningshot again)
/change2rifle
/headshot (while creatures runs away like something max 120m)
/wait-until-creature-returns
/when-creature-at-70m:HS2
/change2pistol
/warningshot
/...
of course you cant't and shouldn't put all these commands in a macro, it depends on the creature what to do after the first warningshot (and if it was a miss) and if it's a social creature with friends.
silly to say that it would be nice to see when MS1 stopped to "refresh" it...
Thanks for your help
luk
i guess you could do
/mindshot1; /alarmAddin 002 Mindshot1 hasstopped!; /mindshot2;
that would tell you...
Can you explain a bit more how armor, resists and armor piercing works with Mind shots?
I heard that for them resistance is not used. I that correct? Will AR be used? Will a Laser Rifle get a bonus against AR0 or is this the bug where you do not get a bonus?
I think finding the right rifle for your mind bleeds is horribly complicated because it does not follow the standard rules, and noone knows exactly what rules it follows...
Thanks
