Thread: rifleman and the new delay

Qustion, how many rifleman are upset with the new delay added into the game?


I am very up set over this delay, I think it's extremely damageing to our profetion and our abiltiy to hunt. I know why the delay was put into place. to keep jedi from putting on armor, then using a macro to strip the armor off, spam out force powers and put the armor back on. but why did this "Fix" have to effect profetions that do not explot in that way.


I mean, im just a lonly rifleman, I dont get buffs unless im hunting extremely large animals, I dont wear composit armor, I just use foods to lower my mind costs using rifles, and ubese armor when i need it. Im not exacly high up in the tree for rifleman, so right now i tend to go prone, and use conseal shot on yellow, con animals with my T21, or jawa ion gun. Then when the animal, or pack notice me, i will kneel, put ubese on and use a closer range weapon in the hopes to finish it off. normaly i end up eating a ton of stims just to keep alive but it works and it's not fast, or easy exp it's still exp and gives me pleasure.


But with this new delay i find that when an animal notices me, im dead before i even change positosn, or get more then my ubese boots on. let alone the entire set, change to kneel, or stand and change weapon. this also effect how we heal or keep shooting.


The best way i can see to get around this is to join the club with all the 24hr comp wearing people that get buffs to hunt. I didn't think the Devs invitioned that a requirement to hunt was to wear armor, and get buffs. just to attack 1 con yellow animal.


I know the dev's can think of a better way that makes it so jedi can't wear armor, i know it's harder than adding a delay to the tool bar, but please guys/girls do it. for your punishing every combat profetion just so you can keep a few exploters from cheating..

You can't do **** in this game without armor+buffs. The devs will tell you it's supposed to help the economy. Like how a 4mil rifle will eventually be destroyed leaving you suckerless. This hella sucks screw SWG I'm joining the WoW side where the nerf bat doesn't touch everything in sight.

I'm not a fan of the weapon switching delays, but I'd like to point out a couple of things regarding your complaints.


1) Awhile back the devs stated that a yellow conned mob should kill you somewhere around 80% I believe. So, yes, unbuffed and unarmored if you get aggro'd without armor you will be in trouble. So, I think it is what they envisioned. Now, whether or not that's how it "should" I'd have to say probably not, but that was their vision.

2) How bad would the HAM costs be of always wearing your armor if you took some brandy/canape? The Health and Action shouldn't be too bad, and you can stim that away when necessary. Maybe you'll have to take some kind of health/action secondaries food to lower ham costs while wearing armor. You could also just wear the chestpiece, which is usually what gets hit anyway.

3) You might just have to suck it up and get buffed or not tackle the tougher yellow mobs and stick with some whites or blues.


With that being said, I don't like the new delay. It will suck for leveling rifleman, I know, I experienced it on test last week, more the weapon switching delay than the armor since I don't have armor, but it presents a lot of the same problems. Not nearly as bad as the 2.5x damage modifier was though.

I am upset with this, just becuase it shouldn't take me 5seconds to switch between wepons when i've mastered every aspect of rifle use (Counter Snipe, Abilties, Sniping, Concealment), you'd think i'd be adept enough to be able to switch between my wepons in less then 5 seconds. On the idea of armor... I think it's more reasonable becuase, hell, it takes a catcher in a baseball game at least 20-30 seconds to eqquip a healmet, chest piece and 2 shinguards. that converts pretty well to SWG world

Issue: ARMOR AND WEAPON DELAY

I believe this is my first post ever since I started playing the game a year ago…that’s how bad the delay ruins gameplay.

Might there be a better way to fix exploits that I never personally used and never even witnessed being used?

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
1) WEAPON DELAY---Allow at least one weapon change with no delay and wait 10-15 seconds for next weapon change?
I am almost a Master Rifeman after playing for a year (not much for the grind). The wide range and subsequent penalties for rifles makes it necessary to switch weapons depending on the situation and enemy. When in combat I may use a rifle with a powerup for creatures and then another rifle w/out powerup for the lair. Delay makes it extremely tedious to change weapons at all. It even seems that it may be bugged as well since I could not change weapons at all while finishing off a lair---until the specials cache ran out…then still had to wait 5 seconds.
As far as immersion, I can’t imagine any character in the Star Wars movies needing 5 whole seconds to switch weapons while in combat!!!
If it’s DoT that is the problem, then limit (or don’t allow DoT stacking), instead of requiring a mandatory delay on all equip/unequips

2) ARMOR DELAY---Allow one macro armor equip but you then must wait 15 seconds to remove again?
Understandable to make a delay for those who abuse and switch in/out in the blink of an eye just to do special attacks but also penalizes sensible gameplay. As rifleman I can’t drain a lair with armor on and use specials to do it---too much mind drain with encumbrance. So now when shooting a lair and I want to put on the armor for the emerging creatures it is impossible….something may be bugged during combat? I have to hit “peace” to equip now and then get chewed on for 20-30 seconds while all the armor SLOWLY gets put on (as far as immersion who would really sit there putting on armor anyway while a creature is biting your neck?)

The delay is a heavy-handed, across the board slap to everyone just to fix a small exploit that affected very few!
PLEASE COME UP WITH A BETTER WAY TO FIX THE EXPLOITERS!

In playing, I can see the point in the armor delay, but thats not my full issue, some of you hit on it. the weapon delay is annoying and shouldn't be there, pulling a weapon out shouldn't be that hard. but I'm not sure many of you noticed this, but the delay also effects posture changes, that meaning, even if your prone, and you get agroe'dyou need to kneel or stand to start shooting at the target, so you first clear your spam, and switch weapons to a closer range weapon (attempting to hit somthing at 1m with a T21 is a joke) and by the time u do all that you need to heal from the damage taken because the animal has been wacking you while your prone (were u take more damage than standing up) were you run though anouther dealy. I find even fighting white con animals were taking more damage faster and while were delayed were not even shooting the target with normal shots.


If the devs feel and in a way i can see haveing a delay to put armor on, and there's already a built in delay for healing, but weapons? changing your posture? that makes no sence.. plus what gets us rifleman is this delay stacks ontop of the delay that you encounter from special attacks, shooting the T21, or any other slow weapon will leave your charicter open for an extremly long time.


I know not all profetions will have complaintes about this. I have talked to a few TKA's and fencers about this issue and they feel that it's not a problem, but then agian, when do they change postures? or weapons?


Well thanks for letting me vent hehe, I hope they can remove the delay atleast to posture changes, weapon changing and such. armor wise, i can deal with it being delayed.

The delay sucks, but we aint as bad off as the BH's with this one, they can basically only use one of their 3 weapons trees now.

What I would like to see is a speed mod for the delay in the elite combat professions. The higher your level in the profession that faster you can switch those professions weapons out.


You can still stop the Jedi armor switch by not putting any mods in their profession.


You can even have it cap out at 1sec.

I'm confused. Is this Live yet? Or still on test?


I'd also like to add that Jedi suck, for getting every other class (except TK) nerfed because of their exploiting.

It is Live? Huh. I didn't notice when I switched from Rifle to Unarmed, or when switching from by Vibroblade to Rifle. Does it only apply to Ranged or something?


I'll go check it out again, stupid patch makes me do a darned Full Scan every time I log in.


EDIT: It's only while in-combat, isn't it? Shoulda figured.

Yes I had the pleasure of dying twice in an hour because of the wonderful new delay. First it stopped me from standing up to run away because I had to clear the que (although in hindsight maybe I should have hit peace then try to stand as the enraged kimo tore me a new hole) then I finally got to see some of my armor equip as I died. The second time was on dath where my commands to my pets were waiting in line with my strafe2 lucky for the undamaged Rancor it teleported right infront of me and killed me before 'a' could leave my mouth because I was in the process of "equiping" armor. But my pet got to watch over my corpse while I cloned. Hell I don't think I had died fighting alone for almost 2 months before this wonderful change.
