I would say /cover would be rather devestating in PVP if correctly done. If you and a few others can catch some other people off guard, go into /cover so you go off of radar. The rest of the group goes into PVP, and you should be able to shoot and add your damage to theirs.

exactly!

Any1 tested this besides me? Its awsome u'll be invisible to ppl and u wont show up on radar. If u stand u break cover. If a player or creature gets near u cover breaks. Its probably the best ability given to any profession. Real nice

Yeah u can see the light bolts hitting you. But u cant auto lock on, so the covered rifleman can get accouple of shoots at u. But then again he could probably see where the bolts came from. Anyways Its a good tactical ability imo

It would be great in groups when there are more immediate concerns than where some shots are coming from...like the melee people right next to you. WE ARE NOW SNIPERS!

well, solo, it sounds like this will be great for fighting PvE.

but definitely would not use it one on one in PvP because players will be smart enough to follow the bolts, even the dumb ones, it will just take them longer.

*points to an earlier ackehece post made about rifleman not being great 1 on 1 but uber in group combat....*

Well, ackehece, please ask the developershow they plan to counterthe inevitable "anti-cover radar hack."

In every game where players have been able to 'drop off the radar' someone has programmed a hack that allows the user to see and target these 'invisible' players. That's why the Radar was given to us in the first place, that's why developers have said in the past that players would *not* be receiving this ability...

I guess the new developers didn't get briefed on this issue.

completely server based... the client is never sent the information (so it can not be hacked to show)about where the shooter is at all.

*points out again that we only have single-target attacks....* i would not say we would be 'uber' in group combat. but i would say that we would be fairly effective because we would be able to live longer and if we lived long enough, yes, we could pick them off ONE by ONE........

please get them to re-word "CrowdControl" into "TargetManipulation" because in literal terms, we have no abilities to control a crowd.

Snce you will never see the term in game (just for role clarification) once the cu is done you would never see it again.

they choose the term for the same reason the choose mezzer to describe smuggler combat skills.

because people come with an understanding of the term from other games (should have seen the arguements about term usage)

so basically what I am saying is... .

they won't change the term but since it has no practical in game usage it really does not matter. I really do like your term better though!

otoh I think we should still press for a change in the ingame terms of

heat - plasma

cold - cryogenic

acid - disintigration

electricity - disruptor

/headshot

/startleshot

etc currently also work without actually having the skill boxes in rifleman required for em... trying to find out the others so we can see waht sort of damage multipliers the higher up ones have....

the cover invis effect is nice though

I took on a NPC last night (some silly Naboo securtiy officer.. just standing there asking to get shot).
I took cover, aimed, and used conceal shot. The NPC immediately shot back. In PvP there is no way to target a /covered player, but you can see thier blaster fire, so you can just run up to them and break thier cover.
However, I maintained cover throught the fight and the NPC almost got me. Luckily one of my group members stepped in and added some extra firepower.

This is starting to look like a (effectively) PvP only ability. On the other hand.. we aren't even supposed to be able to use them yet so I doubt they are truly working as designed. I love it though.. its really making rethink my role.. I am really considering going back to ranger/rifleman (especially for that crawl speed bonus from terrain neg.)

I also noticed that I was limited 40m in PvP when my rifle's range was supposed to be 45m. I could root my opponent, but I had to come in range of his carbine to hit him. That wasn't very cool.
