Ok, bear with me here, I am a PvP vet but a complete noob at PvE. So I have noticed conceal shot is a BIG part of a PvEr rifleman. However i got no clue how it works or how to use it effectively against krayts and nightsister elders and such. I am TKA//Rifleman with medic. Any tips and tricks would be EXTREMELY helpful.

Use it beyond 40 meters away(ideal range is preferable). If you miss, it is best to /peace and wait a minute before continuing as two consecutive misses will cause your target to aggro. Also, watch out for a bleed icon to appear next to the target's name. After the icon appears, you have ten seconds before a -1 bleed will begin to tick. Upon the first tick, the target will aggro unless you move out of range. When the bleed disappears, you can continue with concealshot. Don't bother with krayt dragon ancients. The rest may not be worth the time either, but they aren't quite as ridiculous

awsome man! thnx, how about actualling using it? do i ened to be under cover? or prone? sometimes if i do it while im prone/under cover, they keep moving away from me while i shoot at them and its a pain to chase after them prone.

You don't need to be undercover but being prone is preferable.

You can do it in any posture.. but I heard this, I think from one of the Rifleman FAQs actually: If you are standing and you miss with concealshot, instant aggro. If you're kneeling and you miss TWICE, the target aggros. If you're prone you can miss three times before an aggro.

Also, as a PvE-only Rifleman for several months, I have never, ever caused a bleed with concealshot. This forum is the only place I have ever even heard of it happening. I admit I watch out for it anyway now that I'm aware that some people get it.

damn, so what do u guys do when they move out of range? because i cant keep up with them prone. I get about 4 or 5 shots in before the NPC moves out of range and its a pain to keep up with them while u are prone.

Well master Ranger really helps when they move outta range while concealshotting. Can crawl real fast with the extra terrain negotiation, but since ya don't got that you'll just have to stand up and move closer.

If they move out of range, just /peace and stand up. Move back into range, then go prone and continue. This can be a pain sometimes especially if the target keeps moving back and forth from too far to too close, but it works.

To those never causing bleeds- I assume you are using a T-21? What sort of mobs are you using it on? If they are weak enough, you probably just kill them before a bleed has a chance to appear. I was out on Dathomir last night working on rancor lairs and I had a bleed appear on what seemed to be one out of every three rancors. They drop fast though, so it wasn't a problem, but I was using headshot 3 exclusively. I remember causing the bleed with other specials(SS2 for sure) as well and even with just regular attacks. This is something that every combat profession has to deal with too, but they don't have concealshot, so it isless of an issue.

Some people theorize that the wound chance on your rifle is what determines the likelihood of a bleed appearing. We have no proof to support this as of yet, but we have no other explanation for it as far as I know(unless it's justa flat % chance). Try watching for a bleed icon to appear no matter what shot you are using- you should notice it much more often than just whenever you use concealshot.

Same thing with me, for months I used conceal shot and placed no bleed. Then the other day while concealing an elder to death a bleed appeared, got close to killing me but in the end she went down.

If you shoot something 100s of times, which is pretty common for concealing high-end mobs, you'll most likely get a bleed. Not sure if it has something to do with the wound chance of the rifle tho..

And for the huge guys, like krayts and kimos, you can shoot them from 74-75 meters. I think this is due to their huge bodies. If you try to conceal them from 64 meters, which is the max range of any rifle, youwill probably get aggro becauseit'll betoo close..

But concealing them from 75 meters, you're safe as long as there's no bleed.

Headshot 3 is supposed to cause a bleed, that is one of its standard effects. So your bleed frequency was due to your choice of shot have a high chance of causing a bleed.. With conceal shot it is a very low random chance of causing a bleed so it normally only occurs on really big things you have to shoot many times.

Also headshot 3 doesn't provide any conceal benefit so if you are staying concealed it must be through take cover or a scout/ranger skill. I've used headshot 3 with mask scent and it is like any other shot with mask scent you have a few shots before they locate you. Without mask scent they will normally aggro you on the first shot.

I don't recall that having ever been said before, though it does sounds likely. Could you provide a source for this?

The reason for my not being detected(as well as for my hunting partner, Way'ev-Da) is most likely because of our being outside 40 meters and having MR. For whatever reason, it seems MR are able to fire more shots before detection than lower-level Riflemen using only standard shots. I had nothing in the way of camo kits or maskscent to conceal me(neither of us could use camo kits and I don't even have maskscent available).

I've never hadHeadShot cause a Bleed. I always get a Bleed from MindShot though.
