Thread: Killing A Carbineer (Need some fellow Riflemen Advice)
get some uber 8300 energy resistance (at least) as well as 2-6 2300 resist PSG's (depending on how many duels you are plannign on doing in a session) if you can switch a PSG in between each duel youll have the upperhand.
the carbine he is useing is the proton, which means your PSG + armor should help you out alot.
stock up on some 1200 heal stim D's as well as ruby bliel.
thats the equipment you need, and in order for some tips on fighting well need your + his FULL templates.
as a carbineer hell be using battle armor, so, his resistances will be the same across the board, however, he will most likely be using a PSG. so:
research your bazaar, write down what types of armor are resistant to what ie:
if you see him wearing battle armor (and a PSG) you should use kinetic dmg (if you have it) to negate the PSG.
if you see him wearing recon armor (and a PSG) your best bet will be a laser rifle. Unless you are a wookiee and can weild a very high dmg bowcaster, youll get more dmg through using energy dmg, but youll have a hard time breakign through the PSG.
if you see him wearing assault armor (and a PSG) laser rifle all the way my friend!!!!
He wouldn't wear Recon armour, not without the master certs when he has other choices. Move, accuracy, and rate of fire hits would hurt. Expect Battle armour, layers depend on what he wants to protect against more (but either Energy or Primus), plus that PSG. Don't forget your foods and drinks, plus ONE spice. Each stat can only be modified by one food, though.
During the fight, remember that KD Recovery is now different from standing, and neither will do in the place of the other. Expect not to be able to use Sniper Shot, with the warmup plus minimum range. Save your BH KD for when he lets his action get too low, as KD Recovery takes 1/4 of the action bar ... and don't let your OWN action bar get too low! Really, it's going to be mostly the BH specials you work with, using the damage of Rifles (though you just might be able to kite using Kneecap Shot ... if so, more power to you!)
rember to bleed to, and cycle between adavnced crtitical and hs
or be really evil, and make sure that both of you are buffed, including the speedbuff, just kd him, and spam advanced startle shot. mae sure you have a low Ham rifle when you do this however, and use pixie and action buff food. also since you can;t break it to use aim, drink dytrium-pyro (sp)
Have Assault Armor on? Only good against Kinetic Weaponry. His Proton Carbine will chew you up. If he has a good E11 Mk.II or Elite Carbine, you'll suffer tremendous damage.
Your best bet is Recon Armor. You'll have great resists against energy based weaponry which your friend likely has. However, any decent PVP'er has a variety of weapons. If he has a good Nym's Slugthrower (Kinetic + Acid Elemental) or a good Czerka (Kinetic) Carbine, then they'll punch through your Recon Armor with ease. Including your PSG if you have one.
It will be tremendously hard for you to maintain some sort of distance against him. Carbines shoot respectably far, up to 50m (64m with the CL40 DXR6b Carbine). His Improved Crippling Shot is very effective in landing a really good Snare. His KD is better than BH's Impr.Underhand Shot, but just by a little. If your friend is smart, he will use Battle Armor. If he does use that type of Armor, then stick with your best Rifle, since you will have no big advantage over him via damage types. Rifles tend to really do great Energy damage. If he is unwise, he will use Assault Armor, and your Energy based Rifles will chew through him.
Foods / Drinks: Vasarian Brandy is one place to start. Namely, stuff to increase your Action recharge rate. Crispics are out there to increase your Ranged Accuracy for up to 10 minutes. Ruby Bliel is a must to put your Stimpack usage at 30 second timers instead of up to 45-50 seconds. Then get the best Stimpacks you can get.

If you have (or can pick up) pistoleer 0404 before the fight than just kd him right away and chain advanced startle and improved disarm on his kd'd @$$. I've only had this strategy fail once on me, and that was just horrible luck (3 out of 4 of my opening shots missed, even with 322 accuracy with my rifle, i got up as my friend was teasing me and killed him while i still had less than 100 health, theni went on win the next 2 or 3 without taking damage) I've even found that i can kill some jedi with this if valor is down and stays down. As for his 50% damage reduction if he has pistoleer 0040 he has intimidate shot, which will greatly reduce your damage output for a period of time. Another really evil thing you should have on hand and will absolutely kill him psychologically is pikatta pie (dodge buff). With good stuff you can have pie that allows you to dodge a huge number of attacks. Other foods you can use are ranged accuracy, ranged defense, but action regen is a MUST. get a low sac rifle and you should be fine (most of the duels i fight dont' last longer than about 30-45 sec.
Your friend will use kd, crippling shot, supression fire, leg shot, scatter shot andadv critmostly would be my guess. The first 3 will keep you either on the ground or well within his range, the second two will be his damage shots. Leg shot is probably going to be the most damaging attack you will face--it does a little more than advanced crit, and chained with scatter can be pretty deadly. if he prefers to use adv crit you'll get chained with adv crit and leg shot for damage, and unlike your adv crit and headshot combo, you'll find he will do much more damage. For his kd i'm not sure if he'll use charge shot or underhand shot. Charge is a bit more effective, though when i talk to Carbineer/BH's they seem to prefer underhand because it doesn't move them forward 5m towards their target in the animation, like charge does. Suppresion fire and crippling shot will be simply to keep you at ideal range, and he'll use them liberally if needed. If he feels he's getting the upper hand in battle he may throw in confusion shot or eye shot to add insult to injury and give himself a more prominant lead (they will lower your defenses and accuracy).
The key is to never give him a chance. if you can pick up the pistoleer lines 0404 for the improved disarm and stopping shot, then you can use the aforementioned strategy and not take any damage. very helpful, though he'll either call you a dirty cheater, say "wow that's a killer combo" or complain that his KD recovery wasn't working (those are the 3 responses i've gotten vs people, mostly the first and last). If he complains that kd recovery wasn't woking explain that he can't use any abilities while delayed, so he couldn't kd recover. If you have ranged arms, for extra assurance once he's kd'd and delayed get 75-79m out and that way if you see him get up (watch him closely) you can use stopping shot on him and beat him to a pulp. If you're at this range and he does get up, use stopping shot on him, use advaced aim (+240 accuracy and yes it does make a difference in damage) and then keep using adv crit and headshot, it'll be over soon.
There you go, hope this helps!

It's pretty nasty indeed to have Master Rifleman with target control specials.
I used to have M.Marksman / M.Rifleman / M.Carbineer / Pistoleer 3404. It was deadly accurate, and I can manipulate a target reliably.
the only way you might be able to get a sniper shot off is if you have adrenal boost and the mushroom pie you can get from the nurse on kash in the myydril cave village untill tomorrow the adrenal boost adds +40 speed then it will be +25 i think. the pie adds +39 combat speed. these will speed up the warm up and cool down timers a lot wich could help you out not only with the sniper shot but anything else you throw at him
im a MD/MR i have a speed of 85 wich isnt all that great but with the added buffs from my doc it helps out
right now with buffs and food i have speed of 164 after tomorrow it will be 149
the pie is not hard to get just takes time... if you complete the quest to the doc then you get the cyber arm +10 range distance/+10 range accuracy
* Duels almost always start at very close ranges. Putting distance in between you and your opponent before the start of the duel usually results in the shorter ranged fighter whining.
* Since it is a 1 vs 1 fight, the distance will always be closing on the Riflemen. No chance other than opening shot (if even then) to use Sniper Shot, Rifleman's most powerful special.
In group PVP a Rifleman stands a better chance... to get lost in the mix and get off powerful attacks, hopefully Sniper Shots for massive damage.
Anyways, I'm not a lover of duels. Either GCW or no PVP at all (which is dwindling).
