Thread: How does someone shoot once a second with a master?
Cause I think you have ummm +95 rifle speed at master.... Does that explain it? Slice a T21 to like 6.5-6.8 speed and at master you'll be shooting about once every second!
Cheers,

Ok, to my knowledge the skill modifiers displayed are in percentage. So a typical T21 rifle has around 7 seconds in speed from the beginning and a typical special move has a time multiplier of 2 making the speed roughly 14 seconds. If you have EVERY other rifleman skill except master (even including master marksman)you will have a 75 % reduction to speed giving you 3.5 seconds between shots. If you then also get your master title your reduction will be 95 % leading to an effective speed of 0.7 seconds which are then capped at 1 second.
Should the move have an even bigger time multiplier you will probably still be shoting with the capat 1 second as a master, and you will have damage per secondincreases with these moves up to 400 % by just getting the master sharpshooter title.
Personally I think this is a bit too much for just one skillpoint, I mean a non master have no chance whatsoever in pvp as you know and this is why. Sure, being a master should have it's advantages buta 400 % increase to damageis ridiculous. To paraphrase another post on the subject I read "it makes the system titanically difficult to balance".
Is this just me or do you agree to some extent?
I Was just wondering if someone couldexplain it to me. I dont quite get how somone can shoot a T-21 at 1second intervals. BTW, I thought I saw people state thtat they do this with 1.0 sec delay using Flushing Shot 2.

The previous poster is correct. +speed is a percentage modifier. At +100 speed you will attack once per second even if you are using a speed 8 rifle doing a x5 special.
Special attacks have a speed multiplier on them. If you have a weapon of speed 5.0, and do a special attack that has a speed multiplier of x5 then you will be attacking at speed 25.0. If you also have a +75 rifle speed then you will attack at 75% offof this (ie: speed*0.25) so you would attack at speed 6.25. If you have a rifle speed of +90 (master rifleman) you would attack at 2.5. If you have rifle speed of +95 (master rifleman + master marksman) then you will attack at 1.25. With master rifleman you will attack once per second on any attacks faster than 10.0. With master rifleman and master marksman you will attack at 1/s on any attacks faster than 20.0.
With the latest patch however, you can get +100 at novice marksman if you have a high level *REALLY* good friend.
Just deck yourself out with +100 rifle speed skill enhanced clothing and you are set. At master rifleman you just need +10 which you can get on a single skill tape (or plate) so every master rifleman should be attacking at 1/sec now.

Thank you very much for the information, I really appreciate it. I am assuming that this has all been confirmed. So, does anyone have some rifle skill mods that they would like to sell on Corbantis?

With Master Rifle + Master marks we get +95. In order to shoot at 1.0 you need +100 which we don't have. Don't believe me, try Strafe2 and you'll see what I mean.
If you manage to get your hands on a +5 rifle speed tape you should be able to hit the +100 speed barrier.

How much rifle speed increase do you get with master marksman? I was under the impression it was only +5, am I wrong?
Yes, it's "only" +5 when you get it. But if you're a master rifleman it is the difference between 90 or 95 and this effectivly doubles your attack speed as mentioned by several posters including myself. The problem is that this system isn't anywhere near linearity.
The devs have been talking about changing the speed caps of all the weapons, and I really hope the think when they do this so that we get a system that is easier to balance.
But it would be really good if the skill tapes are working now, have to goget some
Thanks for that tip.
Can anyone confirm that +rifle speed skill tapes still drop and are in fact working?
It would really help me decide if I'm going to drop master marksman or not. ![]()
Thinking out loud, I guess the answer to my own question is that carbine speeds are lower, typically in the 4 range if unsliced, so that the bottom line is that a Master Carbineer should fire about as fast as a Master Rifleman. Still, I thought the idea was that carbines and pistols fire faster than rifles but do less damage per hit. Right now, rifles fire just as fast and do more damage per hit. I take it that's why the devs are talking about raising the speed caps in some cases?
Anyway, the way things are currently, I can't help but wonder: shoudl Iditch carbineer and join the ranks of the riflemen? Do you guys see yourselves as the most effective of the marksmen classes (leaving aside BHs)?
