Thread: Where are you finding fulfillment at Master?

This post is for the Master Riflemen only, please...

I made master a few weeks ago and it is very powerful. I love the speed. But I am starting to feel the lack of a goal here. I was SO focused on master that I was intensely interested in the game. Now that I made it I look around and say "what next?". I tried to do a badge mission this weekend... spent three hours, got to the end only to find it bugged. Running 6000m through empty territory is not how I want to spend my life.

The quest for Jedi is disconcerting to me. I can't get motivated to chase an invisible carrot. If there were a known path that was very, very hard, that would be preferable to me than not knowing even where to start.

So when you sit down at your PC and turn on SWG, what is it you look forward to doing that night?

Playing a new character on another server. I faced the same issue, I mastered Riflemen, and CH. I did all the badges (that aren't broken) Quests are pointless, I'm not running 6000m for a loud speaker. I own a large house, decorated it cool, have 2M in the bank. I can solo anything in the game, PvP is well boring (mix of immature players, and weird PvP issues constantly popping up).

I haven't touched my Riflemen toon in 3 weeks. Problem is, in another week, I'll have mastered 2 more professions on my second char. And once again, be out of things to do.

PEople keep telling, sit around socialize, role play. Uhhh no. if I wanna socialize, I'll call up some friends and hang out. I don't play a game to socialize. so i'm in your shoes. nothing left to do. the devs put new content in, day later, I'm done. (of course if it's not bugged)

I dropped my other skills and tried something new. I was a Master Rifleman and Master Combat Medic. I decided to try out doctor and I got about half way through and didn't like it. Then I got a holocron, and it said tailor, So I did that. Now i'm messing around with Bio Engineer because it was something I was always interested in. Of course I won't drop Rifle, that was too much of a pain in the ass to level up.

I made master rifle awhile ago, but that does not mean I am done progressing my character. I have spent some time playing with other professions, looking for the final template i want. MR makes this process much more fun and alot less of a grind.

Additionally, I spend alot of time hunting with PA / friends and helping escort crafters to out of the way resource locations. Not only do i get to have fun with friends, but i get to have fun with rilfe as well.

I do a good bit of hide/meat/bone hunting for crafters. Depending on the creature I even getto buffalo hunt occasionally. (taking out entire herds in a few seconds. We are about the only class that can do it) Admittedly, in alot of group hunts I do have to hold back, as I want my friends to get the most exp. This however, lets me act as a sort of saftey net, with the ability to keep them alive longer. It also lets me work on other combat class exp as well. But if things go bad, the ability to strafe2 and take out the problem is very nice.

Faction missions are another fun activity. Basically saving up faction for a full set of perks.

PvP is fun with the right people. Personally I don't do it every night because I need to be in the right mood for it.

The various badge quests, the warrens, the theme parks are all options as well. I have resisted the holocron rush, as I am not in any hurry to get a FCS character and start over.

I guess what I am saying is that the game is alot more fun now that I do not have to grind. It is now more about enjoying the game than calculating the best exp creature with the least down time.

I log in, check steadily shrinking friends list, notice that no one else is on, sit around for 15 minutes trying to think up a single interesting thing to do, log out.

I then either fire up the Halo for PC online multiplayer or I load up Deus Ex again( I'm getting myself psyched for the release of Deus Ex: Invisible War. I played through the original about 5 times now and love it each time. )

Heh...I'd already started a 2nd character on another account to compliment my rifleman. Now my doc/be seems to have made my *main* his bi....well...you get the point. Spending a lot of time doing the crafting thing and hunting for resources for now (crafting system in general is really well done, but my semi adhd butt will probably get tired of it relatively quickly)

Think I'll be joining a PA soon to get a bit more involved in the social aspect. All the coolest things I've done in other mmo's have been with a group or guild, but I never do it here 'cause they made it easy enough where I don't have to =P. Figure I need to get over it and see what the rest o the world is like.

After that it'll probably be the holocron route for one or both of my chars. I haven't quite caught up to the head of the pack yet (very easily could have, but I have a tendency to just wander off after an hour of doing one thing). Haven't gotten to the burnout phase yet. Hopefully we'll get some new expansions/content etc before I get there.

I'm on a quest for Faction Points right now so that is keeping me busy. I'm also working towards being the mayor of a player city.

I still enjoy going out with my friends and shooting stuff. We went to Bestine on Halloween to demand candy from the Imperials but we got nothing but blaster bolts (We gave out some blaster bolts too )

I'm trying to master some other skills as well. I enjoy PVP now for the first time since I've been in the game because I can actually stay alive for more than 10 seconds at a time.

There are things I still want to do, quests and sightseeing and stuff. There are events mentioned every day on my server forum that I wish I had been at, I should go to some of those.

I think just like in real life we get so wrapped up in certain goals that when we achieve them we are left with a "what's next" feeling, when we should be saying.. what have I been missing out on while I was doing the same thing every night.

I recently mastered rifleman last week and the rewards were much sweeter after experiencing how much of the difference, skills are at this level. The path from novice to master is filled with many perils and makes one improve and develop their tactics to be successfull. We may be at a disadvantage on this path but once mastered the profession is awesome to play.

I now can look forward to being challanging in PVP instead of just a target. We were always good in PVE but now at master level, the skills are unbelievable. Never could I dream of being to take on a dark jedi master and come out on top but I was able to and that made the grind worth it. Being new at this level, I am most optimistic on future challanges.

i dont log into the game with an agenda to raise X skill. i think that is a sure fire way to boredom. i did that with bounty hunter and learned a valuable lesson doing it. so now that i am drifting from BH i am having a lot more fun in developing myself to be self sufficient in the field. i am seriously considering doing dancing or CH or TK meditate line. not really sure what i want other than master rifle. but for now i am holding onto my investigation skills in case i want to redo BH.

My biggest issue, like someone pointed out, I solo'd my way through the entire grind. Both my elite professions. I was in a guild with 6 people, who never really played. And when they did we all did our own thing due to different play styles.

I'm just getting burnt out on the game. I don't play SWG to socialize, I play it to kill people/things, get more money, fill up my yellow bar till it's green. And sadly, for me personally, beryond that. The game is pretty hollow.

I follow some people out to the middle of no where, and they flip out cause we just found the big treaded thingy the jawa's are in that got attacked by the imperials, and they are happy as a pig in mud. Where as I'm like.. uhh, what's this?! Uhhh why are you all so excited? Ohh I see.. it was in a movie.. uhh which one? Ohhh, never seen it.. sorry..

At heart, I dislike the SW utterly It's horrible SCI-FI (sorry, space drama/soap opera).

I'd like to try the guild thing, but honestly haven't found/or been offered acceptence into a decent guild yet.

But needless to say I am definantly not resetting my MRM/MCH, both were a serious grind. And worth it. I love my gun, and I love my pets.

Thanks for all the support guys (and girls)...

I'm not done yet... I hope I didn't leave that impression. I still want to finish visiting all planets and run missions out of every city and visit a couple of places. If someone knows of a badge that is NOT broken, let me know. I don't have any as of yet. (That's why it was so frustrating to finally go for one only to find it broken.)

I agree that friends make it much more enjoyable. My first best friend dropped the game, and recently another goodfriend whose company I really enjoyed has disappeared. I think these are the events that have got me down. I have one really good friend left that I enjoy doing anything with, but he is across the world in real life (Australia) so our online hours don't mesh very well. Kezia, are you in a group that regularly does interesting things?Maybe I just need a good dose of new friends!

As far as Jedi, I'd lie if I said I wasn't interested, but I'm not a"I'll do anything for it!" kind of guy. Last night I started doing the Garm Iblis missions out of coronet, so maybe the potential of looting a Dark Stormtrooper for a Holocron will fire me up again. I know that Holocrons are not the answer, only a hint, but right now a hint would be encouraging.

As far asother professions, the good thing about Master Rifleman is you can master most other professions and keep it. I'm going to HATE giving up Master Marksman tho! I wouldn't mind trying to master Doctor or TKA.

Thanks again, all ... I feel better!

I agree with Vopn, hands down.

I got Mistress, now I have to work on my TKA skills. I also enjoy hunting with my guild- killing Night Sisters is a good stress-reliever.

I spend more time on the Faction missions now. Trying to get a higher rank and, once there, work on that marine armor and faction furniture/perks.

Badges are fun, though few in number at the moment. The Warren(Hell it may be) was quite enjoyable. And I got enough satisfaction from Act II that made that 6k run worth the while.

So far, best thing about having mastered rifle is the speed. Only thing is that now I have to watch my mind pool deplete itself even faster :/ But, I suppose Strafe 2 mostly makes up for that. Mostly.

When I do get all the skills I'm working for, I sure hope not to have the problem of 'What next?'. I have fun just doing whatever I please. Took me forever to master rifleman, because I didn't rush it. I think playing casually from time to time is very important.

Oh, and last thing- If I get a Holocron, it WILL be traded for one on another server if at all possible. No way I'm ever giving up my Master Rifle. That's how rewarding this is
