Thread: Am I a kill stealer?

Well I was a Master Fencer / Master Pistoleer and loved it. The only beef I had was the fact I was not the best loot machine ( I LOVE LOOT ) so I desided to go Master Rifleman / Master Swordsman. Right now I am Master Rifleman / Master Pistoleer until I cap out my combat xp and make a few million.

I just mastered Rifleman and wanted to go loot some crap. I went to the Kyrat Graveyard and nothing so I went to the Tusken Fort since I could now kill Warlords pretty easily. I get there and there are alot of n00bs running around getting xp. I decide I will only kill snippers, captians and warlords and let the n00bs grind on the lower NPCs.

I run around killing the NPCs very fast ( GOD I LOVE RIFLEMAN ) and I start getting tells " KILL STEALLER". So I step back and think for a second, I attacked the NPCs first and the ones that I attacked that were ingaged were part of a mob that somebody was not attacking yet sp what gives.

My question is what do you think is the proper way of handling my new power. I can't help it that I am able to deal way more power than the n00b grinders. I know some people will be pissed anyway becasue they want everything to themself. I just don't like pissing people off if I can help it.

You obviously didn't pay the entrance fee to the Tusken Fort like the rest of the players there did and you should be very ashamed of yourself.

well, if someone is already fighting a MoB, its generally polite not to interfere unless it looks like they're in trouble (precaiously low HAM bars).

Its just a politeness thing. Now if youre in one of these dungeons where everyone is camping out for loot, like the dudes that wait for Acklay to spawn in the Geo caves, then just go for it. Those spawns are too rare to be polite about it.

When I do Tusken, I don't even have local chat up. If i'm not in a group, I close the window completely. It is tough being a rifleman, because you can aggro and get first shot from range and all the melee professions think you are stealing kills.

Don't sweat the small stuff man... they will eventually leave Tusken and you are their with a few people.

That's not kill stealing. If you attack it first it's yours.

On Krayts and such though, I think that if a group has been working it for awhile and you come up and outdamage them then that is kill stealing but if you all wait for the spawn and then go at it the same time it is not.

I dunno about Kryats and such. Don't go killing other peoples' rancors, but rare spawns are really another matter. The loot that drops on Kryats or GDK's is some of the most valuable stuff in the game. I'd say, if you think you can out-damage the group fighting it, go for it.

Yeah, I don't think anyone has a right to call tabs on anything. I've been called a kill stealer when i got loot rights over an NS elder which two of attacked at exactly the same time. As for Fort Tusken, the spawn rate is so fast and things are so hectic that no-one can complain about kill stealing.

I can see why they got a bit peeved, but then again, no I don't think you are a killstealer. People tend to get territorial when they've been in a place for a while hunting... just something to keep in mind :-)

In the Dev's definition you are not kill stealing. They have said that in order to be kill stealing (in the griefing sense) you have to basically follow someone around and kill what they attack. That being said, there ARE riflemen who fall into this definition. For you to only attack a mob that hasn't been attacked yet, no you aren't doing anything wrong.

When I was just a master swordsman I had a riflemen steal my kills (actually follow me around and snipe all the elders while I was tanking them.) On puting in a CSR ticket I explained that I understand that one, or even two kills is not all that "game breaking" and thats not really griefing, but when someone follows you over 7000m to tag the mobs you are doing, yea that is, and about two weeks after the incident I got a tell from the person who was griefing me...and he called me a whiny b|tch for going to a CSR. I had put the person on my friends list just to see if he was banned, and that was the first time I saw him online.

I just figured I'd share this because rifleman IS a powerful profession, and many people are tempted to kill steal using it, but if you do it in a flagrant obvious way, you will get what is comming to you. Then again, if you are just killingmobs that someone has "claimed" as their own (before their attacking it) or something like a Krayt, or Aklay, or the fire spider, then nope, you are in the clear.
