Thread: Welcome To The Rifleman Forum
Greetings everyone,
My name is Klawlegna.I have several accounts on the Kettemoor server, as does my wife. I've been an active player of Star Wars Galaxiessince its launch and one of the first to master the profession. Ihope to bring this experince with me into this postion.I plan to do my best as your Rifleman Correspondent so I took the liberity anddeveloped a 5point plan that we can all use toaccomplishour goals and for myself so I can strive to bebest Correspondent for the Rifleman communitiy of Star Wars Galaxies. My plan is as followed:
1. Communication -One of the most important things for us to do is stay connected and informed. Our communication with each other andthe development team will be one of the most important aspects of our section here in the Star Wars Galaxies fourms. As Rifleman we've already proven ourselvesto be bothbrave and bold for choosing the mobile infantry as one of our profession. I'm sure we will face anything that comes our way with that same strength and bravery.
2. Education - In conjunction with communication Ihope to keep us educated on any "official" changes as I hear them from the development team. I encourage everyone to maintain a level of dedication on the forums to continue seeking and sharing new ideas that would assist our great profession. I will also do my best to address rumors and random ideas floating around the community andfrom the development team.
3. Motivation - I plan to keep us motivated and stay on target as Correspondent. I hope to see everyone on the fourm motivating other rifleman as well. I'd like to see our forum bursting withconstructive conversation. I feel it's important to keep Rifleman a strong profession within the game. As rifleman we should assist and help new people with the ways of the Rifleman keeping them on track while remaining united as a profession.
4. Activation - This falls in line with most of the other goals. We need to keep active and moving as a community and as Rifleman. We will never advance as a profession or a community if we linger or remain idle. Our level of activation will be strongly based on our eduction and motivation.
5. Dedication - The most important goal we all have is to maintain an intense level of dedication. Not only for our profession but for those areas that affect it. In my position I hope to set an example of dedication that we can all follow and prosper in.
Again, welcome to the Rifleman/Riflewoman or as I would prefer to call it, the Sharpshooter Forum.

Btw you welcome to this forum. We post here daily.
Can i ask why you removed all sticky threads? all of them were full of info for new people.
- second that question...
Brawler Player Correspondent?
ThunderHeart went into the Brawler forum and threw the whole thing wide open to anybody who was interested. Everybody got an equal shot.
We, on the other hand, got a correspondent nobody has ever heard of, whose contributions to the forum and the profession consisted of 15 posts prior to Sunday. There was no invitation for all interested correspondents to apply, and the decision to choose you is not based on anything any of us can see (such as, for example, meaningful contributions to this forum).
As someone who was angling for the correspondent job, it's hard not to be pissed in a personal sense. It's one thing to be given an equal chance to compete for the correspondent position, and then lose. It's another thing entirely to not even be given a chance to compete. The former merely causes disappointment. The latter causes anger and frustration, which is where I'm at now.
As someone who wants the best for the Rifleman profession, it's hard not to take the "behind-the-scenes" aspect of your selection as yet another slap in the face by the Devs, who can't even be bothered to look in our forum and pick a correspondent from among the many folks here who've got a lot more than 15 posts and who have made valuable contributions to the profession with their insight and their assistance.
Again, I apologize for the ration of crap I'm dumping on you. I'm sure you're a nice guy who wants only the best for the profession. But, as mentioned, I'm extremely vexed about how SOE handled this issue. And unfortunately, you are part of how they handled this issue.
Thank you everyone.
I do hope we can get on the right track and begin a productive relationship as a community for the great good of our beloved profession.

Then, to get down to business fast, I have to second what VolstedGridban said. Given the bad history of the rifleman in SWG, I would like to hear the full story behind this choosing. Please consider it one of your first duties to get a statement from Thunderheart and comment yourself on how this process was handled. I am not questioning you dedication nore your ability to do this job. But the way this started in yet another insult to all rifleman on the long list. Please explain this issue to us. If you remain to be seen as "someone who got put in this position from SOE so he can handle everything the way they want" I don't think you can be very productive.
Also, I do appriciate you program and your ideas. But to be honest, it is a very optimistic approach and I kinda doubt that you are completly familiar with the rifleman situation here. All your items on your list are honorable and would be great. But for a very long time now things like this were promised to us. We need to see results. We don't need good concepts. We have so many good ideas and comments, we are just ignored by the devs. I would recommend you start showing us some activity rather soon. We want a list of current issues. We want comments by the devs. We want answers to the 54 pages rifleman thread.
I don't demand that you get change X and improve the T21 by 100 mac damage. But I ask that you get a comment from the devs on all our issues, may it be "we want to do that", "we don't want", "we are looking into it" or "we hate riflemen". I ask that we get informed every single time you try to contact TH or the devs, so we can track whether we are ignored or not.
You have to deal with a lot frustration, which you are hopefully aware if you have followed this forum and the other rifleman related threads. We heard more promising words from TH a long time ago. If you ask me, now it's time for actions. How about a timeline when you will adress our issues (which I am sure you are aware of).
To be more concrete, I don't care how nicely the list of trainers or the list of tips are formatted. Your job is not to educate us about how to play this profession. Your job is to give us answers to our questions (like what about the 2.5 melee modifier or about the 3 second speed cap), take our issues to the devs (or more precise, make them answer our 2-month old requests for information) and keep us updated about what the devs are planning.
In other words, this "community" of rifleman is not dying because we don't have nice threads or we are not working together as a team. This profesion is dying because we are ignored by the devs. So please refocus your priorities from "community work" to "talk to devs" work. We as the community were able to come up with all those lists and tips and threads without a correspondent. Your role should be to help us with the stuff that did not work before you showed up here.
Personally, I'm sorry that my and other's frustration hits you hard. I appreciate that you want to deal with this. But I feel more frustrated and sad now about this game, this profession and the devs than I did when we were without a correspondent. But I will give you the chance to change my mind.
So again, welcome.
Thank you for your posts and I've reviewed your recent comments. I'll maintain a level of dedication based on the feedback I review on these threads I've posted seeking such.
There are many issues still left unanswered and I'm aware of it however, we must all understand that there is a great burden of other requests from all aspects of the game that still need delt with. I'll do my best as your Correspondent but, we must get past the greif and non related topics to grind our issues to the developement team. Only together will we shine over the other professions.
I do in FACT think the forum stickys needmore orginizationa and is VERY important. They should look "neat" as you say, yes I do think that is important. It's important that the information is available without scrolling through 10 pages to get what you want. New Rifleman will thank us for this.I think working together to gain a FAQ/TIP designed by theactual Rifleman of this forum as ateam effortwould reflect our seriousness and dedication the Rifleman community to the developers when I'm working with them on our issues.
I hope this sums up a few things. I'm eager to get started.
By no means do I mean disrespect; I don't know you in the least, and can't say anything bad about you. But the fact that I know several people here by heart because of their activity and helpful nature does draw some concern. I'm not asking why they aren't here, I'm asking what qualified you as the best person for the job.
I'm concerned for this profession and its role in the game, and thus wish only the best for it. Please understand my concerns.
But anyways, hope you can help the profession... *Looks at his old pre-patch T21 with sorrow in his eyes*, ah, the good old days.
