I was out doing Mutant Baz Nitch missions, I have 40% kin wookieearmor, and only rifleman as ranged, well was getting massacred with damage with my 30% speed sliced T21 ( I'm 2-1-0-1 ) So I switch over to POLEARMS 2! Thats right , polearms 2, I was useing a Unsliced basic lance, with intimidate , I was actully HEALING! Please, something must be done, share your own stories of insane Unfair fights.

Alos why is it that a Kwi will run from someone with a Metal pipe?

But will charge someone with a massive Rifle?

This more a case of technique than a problem with the profession, I'm afraid.

A Rifleman is meant to be a sniper, a Pikeman is a close combat specialist. Naturally, if you fight targets that are not ranged, they will run to you to get you within their effective range.

The trick with Rifleman is to pick your targets carefully, hit them from your maximum range and take them down before they get closeto you - that is exactly how it works in real life too.

Use Prone, Cover and Mask Scent if you have it to make Rifleman easier - when you hit Master you will kill most creatures in one shot if you have your technique right.

As someone who has mastered EVERY profession in the game, I have to say that Rifleman is one of the best - if you play it right...

Hope that helps!

True, but if you dont get them on the first 3 shots, it will pretty much kill you, usally because of being social

If you have a decent T21 you can kill ALOT of things within 3 HS3s.

If need be, there is always conceal shot, but that could take awhile.

The key here is range. Rifleman are not meant to be melee fighters. Hit them from a distance. You can kill most mobs in a few shots before they know you're there. If they aggro, they still should fall in most cases before they reach you. Use the strengths of the profession to your advantage.

range is key for rifleman - this is something I worry about all the time

If the devs take that to heart how will rifleman survive in places like the DWB and the corvette?

the longest range in either of those places is less then 30m

Well thats the thing, We dont have a high Damage vs Defense, look at pistol, great defenses and can do almost as much damage, Swordsman has "good" defenses, and just as much offense, when you take 2.5x melee, you are the bottem

yes as the previous poster said it no longer is a melee damage modifier

We have a melee to hit modifier against us now... melee will hit more often vs us. We also have melee defence - which basically cancel each other out.. we give the benefit of our melee defence to other professions that cross train with us (when they do not have a rifle in hand)

Sorry. Pet peeve of mine. Riflemen are Infantry with some sniper like abilities. But we aren't snipers. And unless the MOB is really weak, you aren't going to get a one shot kill, even at Master.

But everything else is spot on. You don't want to play Rifleman like you do a melee. Though many have gotten use to that method because of armor and buffs.

You want to keep range. That means going prone and getting off a couple free shots. On really tough MOBs I'll use /ConcealShot to soften them up before nailing them with my heavy hitting shots.

As for the melee penalty. That 2.5X damage multiplier was taken out a year ago. About the same time they fixed MOB warping. So happy anniversary in that regards.

if rifles had decent defenses, they wouldnt be able to warrant our good damage output, a profession must have checks and balances to be effective, and with rifleman the defenses are meant to be our shortcoming, and rightfully so. we should be at distance, taking down enemies before they reach us, if they do reach us, we should be in for big trouble.

profession is working as it was intended, and if you play it right, you wont get hit much at all. gl in continuing the grind

my worry is that some of the melee proffesions, namely TKM, has such good damage outputs, relative to a rifleman, I would just settle for a TKM's accuracy. all the potential damge in the galaxy in the world does not help if yu can't Land a shot.
