Thread: Why Did You Go Rifles?

Instead of stickying a necro this week. I'm going to start a new thread. Why did you decide to go Rifles?

My story:

I was originally going to go Commando. While doing Marksman I did the Rifle branch first. However at the time they were horribly broken. I've always liked rifles in RL so decided to try it out. There were some definate ups and downs. No armor or buffs. Only thing that helped Mind really was Muon. We had MOB warping and the 2.5X melee penalty.

But I kept hearing how much fun it was once you Mastered. I kept it up and enjoyed it. I worked my way up almost completely solo (no pets). I went up the Accuracy branch first. Picking up Rifle Abilities (Speed) whenever I could. By the time I'd heard about the wonders of AoE's I was much closer to getting FlurryShot2 than FlushingShot2. As soon as I could I tried it to see how AoEs worked. Was a little confused when I saw the combat spam saying damage but no floaty damage. Back to the forums to find out what was going on.

So I've been using Rifles since I started playing not long after launch. I've enjoyed it. I remember when they fixed /ConcealShot. Like many, I ran out to see how it was. Rifles is the one profession I haven't dropped since I started. And I've had no real regrets.

There have been some ups and downs. But overall the stability of the profession has made it much easier. Haven't had any radical changes I've had to get use to or any major changes to my game play.

I chose rifleman because before I came to this game I was a rifleman/sniper rifle using fps player

I mastered other professions but i just came straight to rifleman because it is what I am used to playing

I just wish I had started the game back when rangers could put camo on and sneak around and nobody could see them at all..using conseal shot

I cant wait to see what the rebalance brings...I would like to beta test rifleman really bad. Even if rifleman speed goes down the gutter i wont care...I'll still have my rifle at my side

Now im a Rifleman/CM and playing a support role in the gcw by healing my comrades in battle and keeping the enemies busy with my poison/dieseases and rifle headshots

I have many friends that Do not ever want me to stop being Rifleman due to the fact im speed capped with very nice rifles

Just the accuracy i need to fix now...and i should be good

Thanks for posting there waste...pst me on corbantis sometime...mabye we can chat

the T21 no other reason really.

at first i took up just enough rifles to to use the T21 and conceal shot while doing BH bounties. this avoided the instant kill by NPC bounties at the time. i realized how much i liked it and switched over to rifles.

I started out wanting as a marksman/scout. I was fasinated with the thought of actually sneaking around and sniping(I was a noob and didn't know better). Since rifles were the first thing I ever used, I never got flustered at the rediculously slow speed while leveling. This caused me to learn sneak and shoot tactics and waiting for the right time to start firing. I always had to make sure I was at the right distance for my rifle and lay prone with /conceal without a tank or partner. I made it all the way to 4-4-3-3 before I ever baught a suit of armor or got buffed. I was too busy in the while as a growing ranger/rifleman honing my skills at surviving off what I have through concealment tactics, and controlled shooting. I mastered ranger and riflman within 3 days of eachother. I loved it, I was a master of the wild, there was nothing I couldn't handle solo, no buffs or armor...or so I thought. My old guild CRIME went to war with the guild VM, and I realized the potential of rifleman in PvP, though I spent most of my time on my back. Then one day I had a loot hunter send me a tell asking if they could hire me to kill Axkiva Min.I never really had much more then a 100k and they were pretty much willing to double what I had. After slaughtering many NS's I cam across a group I couldn't kill, the Spellweavers and Protectors. I had to stay back and watch the guy who hired me, a TKM, take those out. It was at that point I realized I had to pick up TKM for I had caught the "I gotta be ub3r" bug. Now as I am sitting on the edge of being a jedi, I face giving up the first profession I ever mastered, the one profession I have always had. The profession that has always been there for me when things got hot. I've been told from day 1 as a master that I'd get bored with it from non-riflemen who just couldn't compete......I'm still waiting.

In fps games, I usually take the big accurate powerfull guns...usually sniper rifles..where its mandatory to hit your target, or you're dead yourself. I thought rifleman was the closest it could be to that playing style, that and I read that it was one of the hardest combat professions to train. I like a challenge, and the only thing that kept me going was the advice from riflemen who masterred before "it gets better at master".

I never dropped Rifleman ever since, not even during the hologrind

I was driving on naboo, from moneia, and I saw a peko peko. I was like wow, there so cool and -rare-. So I countinue to drive, now Im 2k away from moneia, and I see a spawn of Giant Peko Peko, and a Master Rifleman. Now Regular Peko Peko's conned yellow to me at that time, and Giant Peko Peko were like krayt to me, lol. So he downs them in like 5 seconds each, so I slowly n00bingly grinded rifleman.

went rifles for 1 reason... to get sickly rich from great elder loot and be able to solo 20 or so elders a buff...

But another reason i went rifles was bc in the beggining i mastered it and just loved the cool high dmg guns and stuff. But i mostly went rifles to get sickly rich.

I was Master Pistoleer, Smuggler 0040, Bounty Hunter 0400, Scout 4000...the Pistolking template, if you will. I had been invited to help do the "capture the commander" fs quest with a bunch of other elite guys. Soon after we start I realize that there's a rifleman in my group. I looked at the combat toolbar and saw the rifleman hitting for 2500 when the target was in no special state, whereas I had to kd anyone before I even hit over 1800 with last ditch! I dropped pistoleer the next day and ran to become a rifleman.

I used to be in a Star Wars club that roleplayed/fiction writing alot, we had an irc channel, website, forums, etc. We based our roleplaying/stories after ROTJ but before the Thrawn Era.

I was a Imperial Stormtrooper and a squad leader also. So naturally when I got my hands on Galaxies in July I immeadiately wanted to go for Rifleman/Squad Leader.

When September rolled around I stopped playing for a few months because it was my first year in college. When winter break came around I started back up and didn't master rifleman till January, and I really enjoyed rifleman since then.

After that I worked on SL, but I found out that I didn't really like that profession too much, so I messed around with other professions until I found doc and stuck with that. What can be more fun than dragging your incapped buddies behind you while running away from a red conned mob?

I'm a Marine, nuff said. I grinded on faction missions, and I've always loved it. Never will drop it.
