Thread: Question about Conceal shot

Just wondering if any test center players know if conceal shot has been fixed. Does everything in the area still agro on you or is it worth using?

I think it was fixed, but I haven't been able to test this on BaF mobs.



I was using it, though, and got aggroed after one miss. I thought it was two before.

do i have to be in cover for conceal shot to work? or can i just fire away unnoticed?

conceal shot works wihtout cover. cover is a useless skill and should be removed and replaced

There is also this 'Rifle concealment chance'mod now. I didn't have to level with it, so I'm not 100% sure, but I think that is what could possibly be giving trouble too. At lower levels,your 'concealment chance' is low enough that even if you do not miss, the mob has a high enough chance of detecting you. As you progress further up the Sniping tree, this should start to change for the better

also if the MOB has seen you before, it will auto aggro you 80% of the time. i've had occuranced where i've been aggrod by an AT-ST and ran then came back and coneal shot worked, this seems to never work with really high lvl MOBs such as krayts and elders, if i get aggrod by them i usually just count my chips and move on. also, rifleman has a tendancy to cause random bleeds even if you dont use mindshots you will still get a random bleed, which makes sense...if you shoot something with any form of projectile long enough they are going to bleed, but i have only seen this random bleed effect with rifleman. but if you cause a bleed, on the first tick the MOB will aggro you regardless of any other circumstances.

Thanks all for the replies and insights, I've found them very informative and helpful. Usually what happens is I'll have maskscent on, stay more than 60m from a target (usually animal since I've been hunting meat, hide, and bones lately), creep up to 55-60m, go prone and conceal shot. more than 90% of the time it works, just sometimes they instant aggro on me, which I thought was odd. Not too much of a big deal however, since I'm usually fighting stuff I can live against, or if I'm not, I just get the 10m to my vehicle, hop in, and drive away, or burstrun back away from it, firing as I go until it's dead =)

As a side note, for PvE only (and maybe the occasional friendly duel, I am not into PvP), how does this template sound?

The thought behind this was the combination of the rifleman's concealment and sniping abilities with the Scout/ranger's maskscent and camouflage abilities, and the ability to harvest the organics for crafters.

Sounds good. I'd say drop Marksman down to 4/0/0/0 or 4/0/0/1 and get Novice Medic. Stim Bs are a lifesaver


Some people will tell you that Master Ranger isn't worth it. They may be correct, but I won't tell you to drop it- it's popular as an RP template for some people and it does have its uses for each tree, limited as they may be. I think you'll be pretty happy with this template

Yeah, I was kinda worrying about that medic thing, I use Stim-Bs regularly and love them... I just wasn't sure which would be of more benefit, the Stim-Bs or the bonuses to ranged defense and general ranged aiming from the Ranged support line of marksman. Master Ranger, the reason I mainly wanted to go up that was for the bonuses to camouflage and to have access to all of the camo kits, instead of just one. I don't know how effective camo is against high end mobs at master ranger, but then again, this isn't the place to ask that... thanks for your input =)

Why don't you take cover and then spam conceal shot...I've yet to be aggro'd.

Ok, I have master marksman, Sniping I&II, Concealment I, and Rifle Abilities I&II on rifleman.
I get about 55-60m from a target, go prone, and use conceal shot.

Most of the time this works, however, I've noticed on several occasions that even though the first shot hits, no dodge or counterattack or anything, just full hit, the mob aggro's me anyways. Is this normal??
