Ok get this a bunch of devs sitting around playing drinking games, about half way through the night they decide they haven't seen anything funny lately, so they ask each other whats funny?

Dev A:"Watching some guy get one shotted by anything over half his level!"

Dev B:"But if we have everyone dieing like this then they will be up in arms, lets pick one class"

:ut comes a dartboard with classes on it and soon enough a dart is stuck into the rifleman proffession::

Dev C:"How do we justify this penalty though?"

Dev B:"Hmmm.... What was it we told them when they asked about their poor damage, speed, and accuracy?"

Dev A:"They are attacking an unhealable pool?"

Dev B:"Bingo that was it!"

And thus we where granted our beloved penalty.

Its not like we have a higher range than any other marksman class or do more damage than any other of the marksman classes so why are we penalized? This should definately be done away with in the spirit of balancing all the professions. Unless there is a legitimate reason for this then i would like to know why.

I would think that you would be able to defend yourself much better close range with a 3 foot long piece of steel in your hands than a little pistol.

Ya know what? I agree, In combat you are more likely to hit someone with the butt of a rifle than pistol whip guy. Why dont we have a rifle butt attack.

The penalty is that standing face to face, you point a rifle at someone, they are hard to hit.. and you are not exactly in a great position to evade, BUT...

That being said, I took a 6,600+ hit today from (a marauder) on Endor, and would like to know how even with the best armor in the game, the best buffs, and a trunk monkey, I would notdie to this in one shot? Thanks

The thing that I don't understand is this:

If we're getting a 2.5X melee damage bonus against us, why don't we get a 2.5X ranged damage bonus against them? After all, isn't that balanced?

It sucks, to be sure, my only thiking is that this was put in to focus on the "one-shot, one-kill" mentality of snipers.

If you fail to take out that creature in 1/2 shots you better start running and get out your spray stick.

The one-shot kill idea is great... except that all worthy MOBs have 10k+ HAMs and in PvP damage is now at 25%. So they basically nerfed our whole class concept.

In PVP, the justification is that, more than likely, if I charge in from 65m+ holding a knife, you are going to get at a minimum two shots off, and thats if I'm burst running in and you don't run away. I'm not even very high up the rifleman tree and I can three shot most people in PVP. Melee combat in PVP is fun as hell, but not very effective

We can still one-shot Durnis and the like...most of the time. Well, until they nerf that, too.

I agree. However the last time I checked rifles could shoot much farther then 64m. I would have no problem with 2.5 boot to the head if the Max range for weapons was increased. Hand2hand = 5m, Pistol = 64m, Carbine = 84m, Rifle = 104m. Or there abouts.

Pistols should just not be able to touch a rifle at range. Period. Someone with a knife at 100m is called one thing. A target.

I completely agree with the lousy range up close with Rifles. It needs to be in there and it does make sense. That being said, it seems to me that someone holding a tiny little DL-44 would be a whole lot easier to stab than someone holding a huge honkin' T21. I've said it before and I will say it again. We need Bayonettes! Or at least let us crack people upside the head with our barrels. I could probably whail on someone with a T21.

the 250% damage penelty was put in place when we could take someone out in 1 shot or almost take someone out. But that has changed. So, its an old system penelty that should have been removed or adjusted.

===============================================================================

They also didnt put much thought into it on the PVE side of the house. Since 90% of the mobs are melee, This really is taking the fun out of being a rifleman in the PVE since of the game.

Exactly that is what the dev dont want happening now is a 1 shot kill thats why damage was nerfed in PvP and that was the big argument about the T21, killing something or someone in one shot, without any risk. Well since everything has been done in game now to take away the advantage of a rifleman why the huge penalty???

Anyone from the Dev team wanna answer this?
