Ahh the yo-yo...My old speed sliced E-11 served SO well.
Anyone remember switching to a speed sliced scout pistol to yo-yo things??

I recall having either an FWG5 or Scout Blaster on my hot bar and would immediately change out to that right after the creature would do its warp to 100m away as within the next few seconds it was guaranteed to warp right on top of me. Sometimes I was quick enough other times I was a bit too slow for the warping agro.

Just the name "Rori" brings tears to my eyes. I had never played an MMORPG before SWG and so came in not having any idea what to expect. I picked Scout as my character as all I really wanted to do was explore the universe (what a Noob!). When I was asked where I wanted to start, I looked over all the planets and starting cities to try andfind the place that would have the least crowd. I picked Narmle on Rori. I remember venturing 20m outside the gates and killing Nightspiders,Chubas, and Squallsfor experience -- "MAN THIS IS AWESOME!". Eventually I got brave and wandered out further and took on Ikopis. I was on Rori for at least two months before I got brave and decided to travel. I eventually settled on Tatooine and have only been back to Rori twice since the early days, but it will always have a place in the corner of my heart.
The most awe-inspiring moment of the game also occured on Rori. After a week or two, I had gotten brave and had actually learned how to use the shuttle to go to Restuss in the opposite corner of Rori. I had figured out how to set a waypoint, but all that appeared on the screen was a colored arrow pointing in the direction (there was no meter to say how far it was). I had set a waypoint in Narmle and had traveled to Restuss. Forgetting where I was, I decided to return to the waypoint and starting "chasing the arrow" which happened to be across the planet. I ran, thinking at any minute I would get there, but I just get going farther and farther. Animals started appearing that I had never seen before. I came over a hill and ran right into a herd of Tortons! I think I actually said "Shiit!" out loud! At that time I was probably a newb scout with barely any marksman skills. By the way, I did finish the run across the map ... took me 40 minutes I think... but I was so proud of myself! LOL.

Just wanted to remind everyone. It was one year ago this month that the 2.5X melee penalty was removedand the MOB warp was (mostly) fixed.
Back in those days there were no real buffs and you seldom saw people in armor. It wasn't uncommon to get a one hit incap from a Meatlump when carrying a Rifle.
What a difference a years makes.
Happy Annivesary Everyone.

So this year do you think they'll remove the +to hit modifier and put it on melee where it belongs?

You have to think bigger then that, if you want to be able to imagine what the CURB has in store for us

i was talking to one of my friends last nite about what each of us were doing jedi wise in choices of skills to level. defense never really seems to be an issue for me as i grew up under the 2.5x penalty and learned to play and not get hit or just got used to the extra danger. my friend is a long time swords person and as we were talking it occured to me how differently we each see combat. to me jedi is so much easier because i still have that 2.5x mindset and he was having a hard time coming to grips with having much less melee reduction than he is used to.
over all i am grateful to my early rifle days in that there isnt much i do as jedi that is worse than the olde 2.5 penalty.

That made me see the inside of a cloner so often I used to just accept my fate completely. It's probably the reason I'll zerg no matter the odds, I just don't fear death anymore. And since I still refuse to buff up nor wear armor I've still got the whole tactical use of shots and risk thing going for me instead of standing in the ST camp spamming strafe shot.
And screw meatlumps, the best was when a butterfly from off your radar aggro'd, warped, incapped, then warped back so you have no clue what the hell hit you. That's what 2.5x was for me.

and now, a moment of silence for those who were killed by the deadly warping mobs and the giant gubber.
