Received the following PM. I'm posting it here along with my reply. Feel free to add your ideas.

hi tk421 challenged me to ask what kinds of modules and droid functions would ppl like to see added. if you could give me a brief list of items/functions you think would help Rifleman it would help us out immensely...not function to big or small or general or specific. oh if you feel posting this as a poll of sorts would be appropriate feel free i am asking you cause as corr you tend to already have a strong idea what can help the profession.

My response.

As a combat profession the main use of droids for Riflemen is in that function.

The ability to tank a target and hold it in place has always been the main use of droid/pets for Riflemen.

This is especially critical for non Masters that have poor accuracy and must stay at a distance and prone to hit the target.

I'll post a thread on the Rifle boards to see if any more ideas come up. But that is the main fuction of droid. What modules assist in this? Armor and repair of course. Not sure what new ones would be of use in this regard.

Maybe some kind of 'lure' ability to draw a target off the Riflemen if the target decides to attack the Riflemen instead of the droid.

I don't use Droids that much. Mostly I use them for harvesting. Which doesn't really relate to Riflemen. So come post your ideas on what Droid functions you would like to see as it relates to Riflemen. Please try to keep it confined to how it would assist Riflemen or combat professions in general.

And try not to infringe on the abilities of other professions. A Droid that could heal us in the middle of combat might be nice, but that is what Medics are for.

FYI - droids have Stim modules that can be used to heal you. But I think they can only use Stim A's.

Having a droid that auto-harvests would be useful for riflemen as I don't like to get up close and personal and I don't like having to target the corpse, hit the tellpet macro and wait for the droid to start moving before I can move on to the next Mob. Having a droid that could auto harvest would be very useful for me.

maybe a droid that could help you target, you know, paint the enemy with a targetting laser.

Very Cool idea, maybe give it like an /AIM bonus?

This is not necessarily only for riflemen, but all the professions:droids could have a shield (similar to PSGs) that could encompass the owner as well, with decent resists and no condition (shieldgone when droid battery is dead and with each hit it takes, the battery goes down).

actually in combat I would prefer that droids have the ability to be programmed like the entertainer droids do. (they always recursively work)

slot 1:

Heal XXXXX pause 10

slot 2:

Heal YYYYY pause 10

slot 3:

Detect corpse pause 2;

slot 4:

Harvest corpse;

slot 5:

Assist XXXXX pause 10;

slot 6:

empty

hits end and starts again.

commands like assist, harvest, heal, detect current target (alive/dead)

I primarily use a droid for harvesting. For a tank droid I think it would definately help to have one with something similar to taunt or the ranger rescue abilities to pull away creatures that have gotten close to you.

I like the idea of aiming assistance. I would also like to see the droid auto add powerups when yours goes empty. Kinda like a side gunner. Make it so it does it only while you are prone and you have to load them into the droid's storage compartment.

Adroid that instantly incaps any opponant would be a plus to the rilfeman profession. However, putting it in any other prof would be broken. Oh yeah, and make the droid launchable from any planet and have it camp the person to make sure they dont get up. To make it rifleman appropriate you could give it a long range of 400m. Please have this done by Monday's patch. Before lunch.

I'd like to see a droid that can serve some function as a decoy. Either pulling aggro onto it from it's master's target and thus tanking even at range or something similar. A distraction type function would be kewl.

I agree, a decoy droid would be cool. Have it make noise, light,and shoot off fireworks to distract things. It would be pretty funny and useful at the same time.

Hmm a droid that didnt get hung up on rocks & could actually keep up with you would be mind blowing

P.S. Eaxctly how does something that floats above the ground get stuck behind a tree branch on the ground?
