Thread: Rifles and Droids
2) Some kind of special attack modules, so a droid could be commanded to use special attacks like pet's can. The functions Taurant mentioned could be such programs. I would personally love if my droid had a posture down or KD attack
3) More varied types of armour, or varied damage types. (Like good kinetic armour to better tank melee mobs)
- Lure/Decoy - Droid would have the ability to pull a target away from a Rifleman it has targeted. (Might be an infringement on Rangers)
- Auto Harvesting - A module to be added to harvesting droids. It would gain the ability to be put on constant 'harvest' mode. Whenever the player kills a creature, the droid would automatically go after and harvest the pre-programmed resource.
- Accuracy - Laser Range Finder module that increases the accuracy of the shooter/owner. Shooter has to be within a certain radius (5-10m?).
- Shield Droid - Droid will have a radius effect PSG ability. This causes heavy battery drain when used and when the shield is hit. Short radius (5m?)
- Power Up - Droid can be loaded with powerups. Droid will reapply powerup to weapon in hand when existing powerup on weapon depletes.
- Weapons - Allow Droids be have player crafter weapons installed. Player would have to have the weapon cert of the weapon to be able to use this function.
- Nitro Boost - Increases droid base speed so that it can keep up with players running or in vehicles.

How about this idea then. You have the droid set with a decoy module. You program in a set distance.
You tell the droid to 'decoy' the target. It moved up and zaps it to get it's attention.
The droid then starts running from it and it circles the Rifleman at the preset distance.
If you set the distance far enough it should reduce the chance of the MOB gaining aggro on the Rifleman.

You can already do this somewhat. Present harvester droids can harvest while you are still in combat. You just have to give it the command each time.
My usual method is send it after my kill as soon as I drop it. Wait until it starts to move towards it I switch targets and fire away. A small delay between target switchs but it basically works.

I'm under the impression that you have to be a scout to use the harvesting droids. If you let the new droids not have the scout cert, then it would infringe on scouts. This harvesting droid should be in the scout forum, not rifleman.

The droid just stand there though taking hits. My suggestion was to make it move reducing the number of hits it will take.
And to have it circle the Rifleman so they can maintain their ideal range.
Keeping in line with what the previous poster said about doids that aid targeting, simply making ranger traps more usable, a simple harvester droid w/ a trap launcher could be what you need.
Traps like Phenacine darts & Adhesive Mesh would slow/immobilize the opponent while you get in shots
Traps like the Glow wire/glow grenade thing would give you the aid you need in targeting (decreases the enemies ranged/melee defenses)
Ok so its not a Rifleman specific droid but it would increase the usefulness of one professions creations (Ranger) and make existing droids w/ trap launchers more versatile
This would require little effort on SOE devs part, just a matter of expanding the traps from being just creatures (and perhaps allowing traps to be factory made)
I dont think this would cause a flood of people looking to make ranger templates either given how many skill points it costs. Typically Rangers have no customers for traps but themselves. And LOTS of people are scouts so there would be lots of people to make the lower end traps.
