The reason the jump is so large is becuase you get both the master slot, and master special abilities slot at the same time. So instead of just +20, you get +30. So it makes it a fairly large jump.

Thanks for all you are doing Aldeon. I may just stay with Rifleman for a while and not switch to pistol. Although I do see my self using that more often than ever. Thank you again.

~90% of the things in game will get into melee range within 2 shots and not much can be dropped in 2 shots.

What am I doing wrong? I /mask, go prone about 60 meters away, and I get 3, occasionally 4 shots off before the mob charges me. Furthermore, head-shot is a one-hit kill quite often on any mob that's white to me or below. It's not perfect, and there's times I get two misses and a gimpy hit, but quite often I clear a nest by one and two-shotting everything from 60 meters out.

For the record, I have a laser rifle, sliced, with something like 30-400 damage (a bit more in the one's column, but I don't have it handy right now), and I think 5.8 speed. I just reached novice rifleman.

Either you're hinting that it gets much worse as I level up in rifle (which I find hard to believe), that my rifle is somehow amazing (it's nice, but I don't think it's atypical) or there's something else that I'm missing.

im sorry to tell you =( its get MUCH worse... as each new skill you gain the white mobs turn blue giving less exp on them, thats each time you gain a rifleman skill so what once was white at novice goes light blue when your higher level and and the only mobs you get exp off of are 10k+ HAM mobs. At higher level of rifleman this is so bad thatthat you will not belive but at that time your so close you have nothing but to keep going =(

#1 Issue rifles have same range as pistols and carbines.

Proposed fix: Rifles 68m, Carbines 64m, Pistols 60m.

Ok, I just read through this whole post and have some ideas I want to share.

First, I'm not even a novice rifleman yet but I intend to master.

That being said I believe that the 2.5 penalty should be dropped/shifted. Meaning no one, and I mean absolutely no character, should experience a damage modifier that is not directly related to the condition of their weapon, or the object/creature they are attacking.

My weapon is no more damaging at close range the distance in my opinion, a simple way to balance us against everyone else it to make damage uniform to a weapon and change accuracy based on a weapon.

I.E. a pistol has no accuracy modifier at close range and maybe a mild one at medium and an astronomical one at long rage. In the same regard, my effectiveness with a rifle with a melee creature should be large, but at 64 meters I should get a + to accuracy, but I should ALWAYS maintain damage.

Of course an armored person or creature, no matter what the range modifies my damage. This brings me to my second point.

If a rifle with AP3 shreds armor, then I want to see a damage modifier of x3 (or something mathmatically resonbable) to an unarmored person. Armor piercing bullets do bad things to flesh.....

I don't think with out some major code changes increasing our range is plausible and thats too bad, but I'm working on a ranger/rifleman, and for one reason. SNIPER. If we can't increase range, lets modify damage.

As far as the T21 is concerned, my local weapon crafter isn't there yet so my comments are limited. If this is the most powerful rifle in game then it seems that it should do the most damage and have the smallest range penalties. Thats not to say at close range, I mean at full range.

In regards to HAM cost, I don't know if a dev ever shot a rifle, but I can squeeze of three rifle rounds from a mag as fast as I can from a pistol. Accuracy suffers in either case. The speeds on rifle just seem to big and HAM cost are just....wrong. Some one explain why any long distant attack should cost health...or if I'm prone..action. Mind I understand, but the others.....

Anyway, thats the best of what I have. Hope it helps.

#2 is HAM costs, priod. A good T21 with high HAM costs=useless.

Hi All,

I'm a rifleman and ranger on Scylla. I have to say that I share mostif not all of these issues. I usually don't post but do read quite often and can't believe that all of these issues have still been left as is. I mean c'mon guys how long do we have to pay for beta 4?

Aside from all the gripes and complaints I still love the game despite the fact all my friends have left already.....

Now let me get to the issues that I feel are priority.

1. Damage mod 2.5 vs melee is a good idea to reduce and some of the ideas posted here are all good especially the compensation while, kneeling/prone/cover. If no other class suffers this penalty then why should we? I understand the concept however that using a rifle up close and personal IRL would be a bit difficult compared to a pistol but NOT to that extent.

2. RANGE is just completely bogus and our ideal range should be like double then that and to even think of penalizing us for a so called max range under 128 meters is just out right insanity much less 64!!! c'mon guys whats the point in calling us rifleman we just pistoleers with HUGE handycaps. It's completely laughable and disgusting. I think accuracy is an issue but needs to be factored in somewhere in this catagory. Seriously I can't solo anything worth killing (and kiting is NOT an option with our horrible accuracy issues while moving). SOOOOOoooo we must compensate with a class like CH and get a meat tank which brings us to another issue not associated with this paticular forum.....SKILL POINTS! I now have to surrender novice artisan (which I don't want to do) in order to advance in my next rifle skill. And I can forget about mastering Rangernow

Sorry about the ranting above as I feel the noose tightening around my gimpy neck. If the range thing is a code issue and CAN'T be done then we need some serious compensation or we are of a dying breed.

3. The warping think really cracks me up. I went prone from 59m yesterday to take out a already damaged male plains hunter with a camo-kit on....it worked cause I got scout xp for it....1 shot, missed and he was behind be ripping my arse up b4 I could even sick my pet on him I was slain. And I'm one of those who'd much rather take on my opponent by myself and send in my pet if all else fails, I don't like the fact that I'm useless with out my greater sludge panther (btw I paid 23k for him). The pulling idea is a great one I thought, as of right now you can't even aim with out all close by MOBsjumping on your back!

Again sorry for the continued ranting......

Excellent choice. If they go the route of upping our damage while prone, it would address our DPS problem as well. If they remove it altogether, we'd be static. I kind of like the idea of upped damage for increase vulnerability. Additionally, this would give us an increase with ANY rifle. Too much harping on the T21.

The T21 is not as broken as people claim. Buy a different one, gear towards your needs, slice it for speed/damage as you'd like then pick a power up that will do what you want. It is very usable.
