The Rifleman definetly needs some form of concealing ones self. We take 250x dmg from melee, and we dont stand a chance against any other class because we dont have the distance on our rifle to out range them (which is the concept behind a rifle anyways), and we dont have the stealthing abilities to hide ourselves.

Im not saying that we should take away the 250x damage..in fact, leave it. But the fact that we have no way to compensate for this makes our role in the game obsolete. Conceal has little use in a battle because allies of your target can see you, and cover has absolutely NO value in a PvP skirmish because you're detectable on radar.

Why would the dev team do this to the Cover skill? The name of the role is not Hunter, its rifleman. Its not supposed to bea solely based PvE role. And evenin PvE the rifleman has some trouble because he doesnt have enough range to stay safely away from his enemy without being attacked by some melee monster.

To sum it up,I am greatly in favor of a LARGE rifleman range mod increase (64m is not enough, it should be 90-115 or something in that range).I am also in favor of them giving us stealthing capabilities to help improve our role in PvP skirmishes (not 1v1's, those are not for rifleman really). Because as it is now, we are too vulnerable in medium to large scale battles because of range and stealth gimps, and we shouldn't be.

I'm sure that will be very balanced with a .5 second speed cap.

OMG Selfyn, that's a wicked pistol.

I was just browsing the root where the pic is stored and found this scatter:

That's better damage all around than my laser rifle, and it's 3 times faster. I am a little relieved to see the accuracy mods....at least they thought that part through, so what else is it that makes pistols so freakin' accurate from a range?

I personally don't think accuracy mods matter. By the time someone is Master, the negative penalties are completely outweighed by the accuracy bonuses. This is why I was kiting jaxes just fine from 10m and BH's nail me with eyeshot from 60m. Problem is when the creature gets to melee range he kicks my butt, but pistol types have no penalty for attacking at long range.

Pistols are pistols... BH pistol should have the same range as a pistolier pistol, with that being said.... shorten the BH pistol range to be in line with pistoliers(which also need to be shortened imo).... dont allow BH speed and pistolier speed to stack (same with accuracy), and use which one is higher...

sorry i know this is a little off topic hehe jsut responding to my hate when someone brings up pistols LOL

No the issue is not the 2.5 penalty, it's the mob teleporting, which still can be worked around using a pet as a tank. The main problem is still dps, the lack of a powerful rifle like the pre nerf t21, and the proposed changes about mind damage healing and rifle speed cap nerfing.

If they want to justify us having to deal with the 2.5x dmg multiplier, that's fine, but they need to give us something to help us out.

Specifically I'm thinking more range (80m to start with) and a lot more accuracy! I should not be missing from my ideal range, regardless of whether my target is moving or not.

I can easily live with the cons of being a rifleman (high HAM costs, high damage impact, etc..) but I would also like to see some of the pros that go along with being a rifleman (high damage shots, high accuracy, long range shots).

Just my 2 cents.

Well I dont feel the 2.5x Melee mod was that big of a deal, but I am a master Rifleman and dont PvE much anymore (Working on the Hellish Crafting Required for Doctor and my 60k Faction base thats useless but its something too do), and even when I did PvE I didnt kill creatures because of the 2.5x melee mod. Its plain suicide. But, I guess for those still lvling who are for some reason attacking Creatures (**edit**) this would be a big issue.

I would say the Un-Nerfing of the T21, Range (Pistol & Rifle having the same MAX Range), and HAM costs are the most important too me, but then I am a Master Rifleman. I would also like too point out we have a ton more problems but I think fixing those would be more useful than the others. For some reason the DEVs seem too have this dumb idea that Take-Cover is one of our main Issues? Why? How? and **edit**? Using Prone just means you cant heal your self and is a death sentence, all the styles used from Prone are broken, rifle accuracy sucks so bad that between Kneeling and Prone I think Kneeling is better. Crap shouldnt have said that, now the Devs are going to "FIX" Kneeling.

Well thats all, too those of you still lvling up, dont fight Creatures, fight stuff that shoots back, and get some good cheap bone armor for lvling. I maxed my Rifleman in 9days by fighting nothing but stormtroopers from destroy missions, I was a Novice Rifleman using a Mob Dropped Tusken Rifle, be smart dont fight Creatures.

Hi Social Conformer & Boborina,

Social Conformer:

Actually the T21s accuracy sucks pretty much all the time. I'm a master rifleman + master marksman (so I have all the accuracy mods) and I miss with that thing all the time. My record so far is 6 missed shots in a row... and not a point blank range either, believe it or not!

That was an exceptionally bad case though, normally I tend to miss about 1/3 ro 1/4 of my shots.

Boborina:

Buying a new T21 is a small price to pay if they restore our damage to our post-nerf versions. I've bought 4 T21s in the last week and a half...the better ones cost about 75k each on Bloodfin, so a new release of the T21 would flush about 312k (with slices) of my money down the toilet... but if it comes to that, it's a sacrifice that I would be more than willing to make.

Do to all the crafting variables the devs can't really auto-upgrade our guns. I'm sure if you all had to choose between keeping our lousy damage or getting our damage fixed and buying a new gun you'd go with the latter.

Also the old guns won't be junk. They'll do the same damage as they did before, they just wouldn't be as nice as the new ones.

I agree that's the top priority. The 2.5x melee damage is a real hinderence since nothing stays in our "sweet spot" for long at all and the poor accuracy at point blank range makes rifles weak at close range already. ~90% of the things in game will get into melee range within 2 shots and not much can be dropped in 2 shots. A rifleman doesn'thave any advantage over a melee mob that any other ranged weapon doesn't have, so why the massive penalty?

Something I don't see much but think should be addressed it the accuracy of the AE attacks. Specifically, it seems as though there are numbers floating off most of the mobs in the cone (with things like "leg hit"), but not all of them have their HAMs reduced. Only the mob that was specifically targeted seems to consistantly loose HAM. It doesn't happen all the time, but I've noticed some apparent inconsistancyon some occasions. (It's always when a couple of things are running at me so I'm usually worried about other things and can't pay close attention to it).Can anyone else confirm this happens?

T21 as stated doesn't havedamage that coincides with it's HAM costs. The HAM is huge but the damage isn't much better than a laser rifle. AR3 is nice and distinguishes the weapon, but only really effective against AT-STs.

Speed caps are a bad idea. What happens to the spraystick? It's naturally faster than 3 secs before any mods are applied. Class specific capsaren't the way to fix faster than intended weapons. A better idea would be to have them weapon specific (so a T21 can never shoot faster than 3 secs, but a jawa could shoot at 2 secs, a e11 at 2 secs and a spraystick at 1 sec, etc.).

I dont understand =/ do you not want the T 21s upgraded if our speed is being reduced by a third? Or didI take that the wrong way and your saying its worth the price?

Okay, 2.5 melee penalty is bad, yes, and I gripe about it painfully quite often but...

I am going to politely disagree and say that our number one issue should be:

LOWERaverage DPS. Period. Ever try calcluate this against carbines and pistols? You'll piss your pants. Let us not even mention the special heavy weapons...

Once I get on the rifleman tree, this will REALLY help. A T12 would be NICE on our server, yet no one can make them

Boborina is correct, getting up the tree gets logorithmically harder. XP keeps droping but you aren't getting any more powerful. Speed rises but it's not until you're master that you really feel the Umph. In fact, just before master you shoot at around 6s per flushing shot 2, and around 2s at master. This is also the slowest leveling class ever. The best bet of any rifleman is to get a meat shield. Secondary profession would have to be the hated Creature Handler (i don't know why ppl keep complaining about them, and then they scream for perma-death which is uncalled for). Without my pet, I would never have made it.
