Actually Noules is right -- the modifier is currently 5.0 according to the Devs, although our testing has shown it to be closer to 4.7. We listed this number on our posts to the Devs ... I should know because I helped Jaegen write them.

A pure Master Pistoleer can hit the speed cap with some specials (but not Stopping Shot) if he uses a very fast Scout Blaster. He cannot hit the speed cap with FanShot using a 2.2 or 2.4 speed FWG5. Of course both weapons are AR0 and aren't exactly very fearsome, but they're okay. Trust me, though, your problem in PvP isn't the Master Pistoleer firing FanShot (random HAM attack, no state effect) from a Scout Blaster.

I just wanted to thank Noules for all of his reasonable posts on this thread.

I don't understand why there is so much bickering back and forth when we could work together.

Both Pistoleers and Riflemen think that the speed cap changes are stupid. So why not work together to get them removed and changed with something better? If all of us tell the Devs we hate them, then we can make that happen.

I think the Riflemen need some other improvements and fixes, like getting rid of the 2.5 melee modifier or reducing HAM costs or improving short range accuracy, and I support those as well. Why can't we just work together to fix things and improve things instead of attacking each other?

And the hypocrisy grows yet more sublime.

Here we have the author of the infamous speed modification system threads, which presented a slew of numbers without any semblance of context or accuracy, whose ultimate effect will apparently be the destruction of the Rifleman class.

But now we should "work together" for a mutually beneficial change -- which, I assume, would be as mutually beneficial as the last one? Where does 1/3 Rifle DPS go from here? 1/4? 1/5? Feeling generous, 1/2? Parity in speed is the only thing sustaining most Master Riflemen.

So what, exactly, do you propose to wash the blood from your hands?

Incidentally, a Master Pistoleer and Expert Bounty Hunter? Yes, so underpowered, now I can see why our class had to die . . .

This is a post from the dev. The link is:

Point taken. The use of "internally" threw me off when I'd originally read this post -- usually they use "internally" to signify a planned change undergoing consideration by the Developers. So, in this case, you are correct, and the misinterpretation was mine.

No, my problem is Master Pistoleers firing Stopping Shots every second with what seems to be an FWG5. I don't particularly object to dying here, as at least I have some chance of reprisal -- if I can actually manage to hit something -- I do object, however, to soon firing at 1/3 my speed against an individual who already has an equal chance of beating me.

If your issue is with the proposed cap, then that's what you need to address. I don't think the cap is a good idea, and I have made proposals (in several different places, to both riflemen and pistoleers as well as on the discussion forums) for what I think is a better approach.

The problem I have with your posts is that you seem to be following the strategy that if you can make Jaegen look bad, you can make his arguments look bad as well. This is not good reasoning, and it's pure demagoguery. If this is your strategy, how does this make your approach any better than what you're accusing Jaegen of doing?

Whether or not Jaegen is a wifebeater or Hitler Reborn or whatever has no bearing on whether or not the speed cap is a good idea. They're completely unrelated subjects. Stick to the issue, please.
