Thread: Does anybody else look at the rifleman being more of a machinggunner then a sniper?
I don't care if it's called the "absolutely sissy shot from the krettle school of godliness". I am going to judge it by it's worth to me in different combat situations rather than its absurd and contrary to actual functionality name.
Maybe the developer that names the skills, skill trees and makes their description is not the same as the one who coded them and really knows what they do. That would mean the coder tells the design artist some description of what the skill does and he then names them and adds them text flavor that he thinks would best suit them.
Heavy Swordsman is using a........ Powerhammer !

Actually, the MG-42 is a modification of the 34. (lightened and using stamped instead of milled parts). The 42 is the better gun, but is esentually the same design. (more like the M-16A2 vs the M-16A1) So my statement is still true abut the DESIGN of the weapon, and why i used the word arguably.
Both the M-60 and G-3 are still based on the same design.
German squad tactics were fully in place before the 42 was introduced. They were developed before the war, around the 34. (and decended from those used in WWI with the MG 08/15)

First, it should probably be AoE, for Area of Effect
Second, AOE is an old Dynamix game, Aces Over Europe andcame long before Microsoft put out Age of Empires. So the latter (Age of Empires) should probably also be AoE, because "of" does not get a capitalization.
Some people like to use AE for Area Effect, and they are both valid.
I dont think riflemen should be turned into a sniper call. What we need is a sniper type rifle that allows us to sniper with a M14 or M1,and the T21 that used likea M16 with full-autoandsemi-auto/3 shot burts.
We also need those abilities that makesnipers and riflemen effective. We need extended range, we need the ability to conceal fromPlayer radar up to a given range, we need to be prodived with more control in what part of t he HAM we chose to affect.
As a rifleman focusing on Sniper skills,I should be able to conceal from player radar to keep him from locking on to me at extreme range(+125m) and sending a pet to attack me, or poisoning me or blinding me at range.
Turning us into snipers isnt the answer, giving us teh option to go a sniper route is. Sniping should be just as deliberate as any other speciality.Thesniper weapon shoudl be highly specialized and role specific.In addition, the abilites that the proffesion recieves should be reflective of the role.
