A few comments on the Rifleman and it's abilities and purpose:
First, I don't think cover actually does anything. I've been fighting Tusken Raiders alot of late, and whether or not I have cover active, I still get hit every 3-4 seconds when the hoser is firing at me. (Nice that they're so good with their racial weapons that a rifle with a speed of 8s can fire that fast in their hands).
After taking cover, and then standing back up... I sometimes cannot run. This seems to be happening more often. My 'run' speed is maybe about that of walking, if I remove the 'always run' option, and start Walking... I move slower then most crawl speeds. Only thing I've found to fix it with certainty is relogging. Sometimes I can get back to normal if I go prone, or take cover and stand a few times. But, it's not consistant.
The Rifleman seems to be a PVP-only profession. No other profession is that heavily geared toward taking out others of the same profession. Strafeshot is the attack you get at Novice Rifleman, and it's only useful against other Rifleman who have taken cover. I've had a Tusken use it against me before. But.. when have I been able to use it against someone else? Never. Tuskens are the only NPC I've seen so far that have Riflemen levels. And I'm not into PVP (at the moment). So, being a non-PVP sort.. I will never use Strafe Shot or Sniper Shot. The Riflemen class gets few commands as-is, because I've decided not to PVP, I loose alot of the profession's effectiveness. Pistoleer and Carboneer are rather versitle in what they grant players. And by versitle I mean, they can kill things more effectivly. They receive quite a few special attacks, useful on anyone (NPC and PC alike). Why focus Rifleman into that course? Those of us that don't wish to PVP should pick another profession? I like rifles, I'd like to play a class that focuses in them. I'd like to see it as well-rounded as the other focused professions, and not so focused on PVP
NNikzad - You need to reread thru this thread dear, Aledon already posted MANYtimes that right now it will seem as though the Rifleman class(as well as others)are terribly overpowered becasue of the fact there is no higher end armor. We really won't know anything till this matter is addressed.

Tumbling is suppose to grant xtra bonus, u get the Tumble effect if you go into cover from a standing position. However, you cant use any special moves in the Tumble status. Not sure if this is suppose to be happening though.
I have tested this many, many times, and agree. You get a message stating you cannot use <insert shot> while performing this. I can only assume its a bug.
Someone also posted a possible bug about mob charge speed being reduced, and they are correct, there is a way to do this, to be sure though Im going to take another look at it today.
I got Headshot 3 a day or two ago, and havent really noticed too much of a dmg increase, though I can definitely tell Mind power used on this has increased, wheres the payoff?

Rifleman are practically forced to solo because we are the only combat class that cant dmg the health pool consistantly. Sure we can use overcharge shot but some of us would like to not destroy our 20k+ credit rifles to xp for a few hours. Doing dmg to the mind pool while everyone else attacks health yields weak xp.
And I couldnt agree more. I foresee very few Master Rifleman personally if this stays the way it is, I already know quite a few who have dropped the class completely for this and several other issues. Being grouped is more of a curse at times than a benifit, seeing how SOE implemented the XP code, Riflemen are yet again penalized in the PvE area.
I realize that we are still very early on in the game, so am giving them a wide berth to look and "adjust" these issues,I just hope they take a very close look at it first before tossing out a quick resolution that just may hinder us elsewhere.
Top 5 bugs
Cover seems to be the bug everyone onced fixed. There are multiple cover bugs, and multiple things that dont work with cover.
1. When doing straight cover, you go into tumble mode not cover. This prevents you from bieng able to use any special moves. This seems to be bug since, cover gives you more defense bonus then tumble would. Your currently forced to go prone then hit cover, to succesfully go into cover.
2. While in cover any NPCs or Creatures, that have friends, or go in packs. I will begin shooting, his friend will automatically know were im at, yet the one im shooting is clueless.
3. Suprise Shot doesnt work. It gives you a "you cannot use this move with this weapon" when you went into prone then cover. When going straight to cover from standing, your in tumble, therefore cannot use it.
4. The SG82 currently has 110 condition. Making this gun very useless since it gets to 0 fairly fast.
5. Suppression Fire does not work, currently its supposed to bring the person down to a knee, and then prone. But it has no effect at all. I bring this up becuase it is very valuable to a RIfleman, and I have yet to see the Marksman Correspondant say anything anywhere.
Possable additions-
A longer max range, due to the fact that pistols are just as accurate as me from 64 meters out, theres really no purpose in having such a good ideal range. Possable distance would be 100 meters max range for certain Rifles, and80meters for the lower level ones, then 64 for the CDEF rifles.
Cover in PvP? You give us strafe shot, to bring enemy sniper out fo cover, but I have yet to see ause forcover in PvP. Yes, it gives you a defense bonus, but a brawler can cover 64 meters in a matter of seconds, and it takes me seconds to get out of cover. Removing ourred dot on the radar temporarily will not only give cover a purpose, but also crawl speed/sneak.
Currently Rifleman are forced to solo, do to there in ablity to do either health or action damage at a constant rate as others. Overcharge shot works, yes, but the DPS using that puts us on the lower side of XP. You can use mutliple of our other shots, that do random dmg, but they do random dmg, and are low dmg for there speed. Making it so we can only get a limited amount of XP.
For all the other bugs that are out there, I have yet to get to testing, or seen any testing from others. IE crawl speed, and a few others. At the end of today, ill be sending in my report, whether it be close to this, or this completely. If you have tested a bug and feel it should be up there, please post.
Aldeon,
Please add Prone Porting to the list of issues.
I've seen other people mention it as well. 50% of the time when I go prone, I port 10-30 meters away from my position. Sometimes I port closer sometimes I port further from whatever I have targeted. This is really a very nasty bug that needs to be fixed. It can cost you your life more often than not.

I think you have the top 5 out of order. ![]()
I would thinkthat ourdistance issue would deffinetly be in the top 5....along with no real cover advantage in PvP.
A couple others that have been brought up:
-Getting xp for Mindshot (Although it was determind that you need to get at least one normal hit in to get xp, so this inst that big of an issue).
-Sniper Shot - should be instantanious, or at least a lot fast. Also sniper shot misses a lot, and should ALWAYS hit (You are a master sniper after all).
-Crawl Speed doesnt increase, when it says it should.
I think it would be cool if we all could vote on our top 5 issues we think should be submitted, somehow. And tally them up to see which top 5 are the most common.
Here are my top 5 issues:
1) RANGE - a pistol user can hit accurately at 60 meters out, firing over his shoulder while running. I have to be at my ideal range and prone and still miss occasionally. I DEMAND my range/accuracy advantage.
2) PRONE TELEPORTATION BUG - annoying, frustrating, and dangerous. Nuff said.
3) DO NOT NERF HEADSHOT - a lot of people are screaming "nerf the rifleman" because of our ability to kill with one shot. These people do not understand that a rifleman needs to be able to kill with one shot becasue one shot is all he gets before the enemy can close in and beat him to a bloody pulp. Lets fight for our ability to be a true sniper.
4) Special moves dont'work. Headshot 3 no better than Headshot 2. Suppression fire, Flurry shot, Surprise shot? All useless!
5) Some special abilities areuseless! Bonus to crawl speed? Come on! Who is ever going to use that? That would only be useful if we could be stealthed while crawling. But we can't so it's pointless. i just get up and move if I need to.
1. Cover is useless. I do not notice ANY bonus to defense while while taking cover. This ability should grant a substantial bonus if we are going to put ourselves at such a disposition against brawlers.
2.The only useful specials are the headshot line and the ability we get for reaching master is pathetic. The only use I can see for it is for pvp but people rarely go prone or take cover during PvP because cover sucks so bad. Give us a good special at Master Sharpshooter.
4. Pistols and Carbinescan hit just as often at64 meters as rifles and while running and firing over their shoulders no less. Increase our max range or makepistols and carbines as useless at50+ meters as we are at less than 20.

Its +80 to speed, and no I dont think it shoudl stay that way. If both, Rifle and Pistoleer shoot at 2.0 speed, wich one do you think you would choose? Rifleman for the extreme damage, or Pistoleer for the "fast yet less dmg." Its no longer fast, when we can shoot at 2.0 as well.
Ive seen Pistoleers do about 800 dmg with bodyshot 3. Also pistoleers wont be shooting at 2.0 speed when they are masters they will be shooting at like 0.1 speed. The best rifles in the game are all 6-9 second dly and get down to about the speed you are talking about after the +90 speed bonus. Also the majority of pistoleers will have much a much greater speed bonus than any rifleman because they are picking up one of the combat lines of the BH tree. A Master Pistoleer with the Pistol line from BH gets a +129 bonus to pistol speed. Using a 2.0 speed gun (usually sliced down to less than 1.5) that thing will be firing off specials like an automatic. A Carbineer with BH Carb line gets a +110 to speed and Ive seen them do upwards of 1500+ dmg with crippling shot. Both of these guns can also get a knockdown shot.. which they will always start a fight with so even if they fail to one shot you it wont matter because you wont be able to shoot back while they finish you off anyway. Hmm firing off specials every .1 seconds with the ability to hit super accurate while moving and render opponents helpless with knockdown or being able to to fire off a really powerful headshot every few seconds?Which would you choose?
Face the facts there is nothing wrong with rifle speed. EVERY advanced combat profession can incap people in 1-2 shots. This is a general PvP issue not a rifleman issue. PvP damage needs a reduction or there needs to be some better armor available.
