I am new to these forums so bear with me hehe. My alt char is working on rifleman and is half way through CH. This is my first combat char as you can see by my sig I am a crafter at heart so am pretty lost on how exactly to play this guy. I see a lot oflinks on How to's and need to know's up in the stickys but some of them are old posts and I don't even know, with all the patches and updates/nerfs, whether thouse even apply anymore to the rifleman. Any tips you guys can give me on the following areas and your experiences would really be great.

Exp toward master on Riflman...how best to go about it (I am half way to master CH as well)

PvP with rifleman

Progression in my Rifleman profesion (ie what rifles to use and when/ what skill trees to consentate on first)

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Well I didn't read through all the other post so some of this might be repetative. Having mastered Rifleman twice (stupid holo) the fastest way.

The first time I mastered it took me approximately 3 months. Rifleman is my choosen profession, so that was my starting profession. With that said If you've mastered other professions and have saved up combat xps, that alone will shave 2 3/4 months off the time it takes to master. You're skill progression should go like this.

Get 0004 as fast as possible, If you have your cbxps maxed when you start, you can train 0003 as soon as you hit nov RM. This is key. It would be faster to master a quicker profession and max your cbxps before you start rifleman, unless you afk the cbxps/ exploit.

Next get 1000 for some accuracy, then get 0100 for conceal shot, this allows you to hit your target with out being aggro'd. after that go to 4000.

Now you should be at 410X, the X being how ever many skill boxes you could train to start with the cbxps you had saved.

Now just finish off 0400 then 0040. If you started with the max saved cbxps you wll hit abilities 4 (0004) around 0020.

As far as weapons: get all of them, SG= cold damage, jawa=stun, t21/laser/dlt20a/e11= energy. You main weapons for grinding are gonna be the T21 and laser. I would suggest getting 3-4 good high damage lasers, with good speed, use the lowest speed to start and gradually shift to the higher damage.

As far as specials: use overcharge untill you hit nov RM, then use conceal while soloing, and /flurry2 when hunting in groups, its an AoE so what till all the targets have aggro'd your tanks.

What 2 hunt: you fastest best bet is Dant mining and turbo hunting missions in a medium size group.

As Far as PvP: use the jawa, but I wouldn't even bother until you master, and even then what's the use group tef'ing and CM's will whipe you out before your 3rd shot as a master, and that pretty damn quick.

gotta cut it short, but that should help. And btw, the maskscent and conceal approaches are much slower than this, but that just depends on your motives in wanting to go RM

good luck

"Clothing: What should a rifleman wear"

Wow, a question on the rifleman board I can actually answer to some degree. If you're working on Rifles/CH and not intending to wear full armor all the time, go for a pair of "Crafter's Pants" enhanced for Mask Scent/Camo *and* Taming Wild/Vicious creatures (tho I can't vouch for how useful the Taming tissues are) as that is the only pair of pants that can easily take 2 enhancements. Otherwise there are several other pants styles that can be enhanced w/ Mask/Camo. Get a shirt enhanced with Mask/Camo or Cover (the best I've seen is in the +7-9 range for that) and a jacket enhanced with whichever you don't use for the shirt. Get the least useful enhancment in the jacket, as that's the first thing to go if you need to equip your armor. If you aren't already aware, the cap for the total bio-enhanced clothing points per sat is +25, so even if it displays more the Devs have repeatedly stated that 25 is all that gets used.

The "lightweight military pack" (a schematic reward from the Emp. Retreat) gives bonuses to ranged accuracy, ranged and melee defense and cover (+5/3/3/5I think) but can be relatively hard to find- it requires a peice of the "heavy duty leather" and since it's a factioned reward it can be difficult to track down if you're a rebel. It also functions as a regular pack.

One question about cover- does anyone know if the ranged defense BE clothing bonuses for it work when the item is equipped but you haven't actually taken cover?

(and Malaiit, thank you so much for starting this thread and to everyone who has replied- as a Dancer/Image Designerturned Tailor/Rifleman is my first attempt at any sort of combat profession and while I'm enjoying it quite a bit, I was feeling a bit at a loss for how people were mastering it in a week!)
