I started from MBH (with combat XP capped) maybe 4-6 weeks ago. I'm 4144 now. I'll get it whenever. I'm in no hurry. Its really only taken me about 17 hours of play time. Probably take me another 3-4 hours to get master (ahhh nothing like having AP capped for the last 5 months).
I did 95% of my leveling on Endor, taking missions and killing dynamic spawns. Its less crowded than Dant and has many more dynamic spawns (lairs that spawn 6 waves of 5 creatures for a total of 30 creatures).
Rifleman is a fun profession and something I always wanted to try since the game launched. But, my aspirations were always to be a Master Bounty Hunter. So when they lifted the SP restrictions on MBH I headed right for Rifles without question. Now I'm in heaven. I love the big heavy rifles and I like my BH weapon lines as well. So now I'm a walking arsenal. I understand on paper its not the best template in the world, but, it suites my playstyle the best and that's more important than how skill mods add up in my profession calculator.

YOU 3-dayers should be ashamed at yourselves for cheapening a once honorable profession. I could probably make that statement on all the professions, to be honest. You go beyond "power-gaming" to "power-whore" with those statements.
/mindtrick1 "You want to go home and re-examine why you play this game..."
With all due respect, shut up. You have no right to judge people like that. People enjoy playing games differently. You might look back at the "good old days" when you xp'ed rifles by using cover, tactics, etc. but that doesn't mean that is the "right" way to play it.
Have you ever throught that a whole heap of people play this game for PVP. In fact, the PVE content of this game is worse than pathetic. If you look at all the options of MMO's out there it arguably has one of the weakest PVE contents in the world. If you are playing this game for PVE I sugest that you play something like Everquest because you will have a heck of a lot more fun.
I am on my second day of grinding rifles, and i will probably finish it tomorrow. Thats a 3-day job. Yes, I use armor. Yes, I use buffs, Yes i spam /pointblankarea with a 1.3 speed spraystick. You know what, thats is the reality of the game these days. It is laughably easy to get a set of composite and buffs and go at it.
Sure, you might have played the game for a lot longer than me, and you might know how everything progressed. But that doesn't give you the right to insult other people, calling them "power-whores" and saying that we are cheepening an honourable profession. Get over yourself. I enjoy mastering professions quickly and trying them out in PVP. This is my third template I'm about to finish in the 5 weeks I've been playing the game. *gasp* thats right! A totally new player, with no help can complete 3 entire templates (almost all combat) in 5 weeks! It might not be the way YOU like playing the game, but it is the way a majority of people play the game now (and obviously, they enjoy doing it or they'd be doing it the way you did.... nothing at all forces you to use armor and buffs in this game because pvp is completely optional) so stop your judgement and stupid comments to yourself.

Hmm I guess it took about a month+ for me I get distracted pretty fast from "grinding" kept ending up on Lok hunting down those Gurk Kings. As a reward I had 7 exceptional krayt tissues made intoa DXR6B disruptor I named "Acid Reign" (the 7th weant to the WS, he's a cool guy)

Let's see...I started my character on Launch Day (well, second day) with intent go to master rifle and master CH an fencer (sounded jedi-ish in the strategy guide book).
Used my newbie weapon (thats all that was available) until I got Rifles III I think (I used survival knife to one handed IV).
Then got a DLT-20a which was a little better. Got a crappy e-11 (I thought it was good tho) then got a great DLT-20a that had low HAM costs.
Finally got to Novice Rifleman and lookded for a T-21 but the resources we not available, so I stayed with that DLT-20a well into the Rifleman tree.
Never got a buff, food, or ENT buffs as they were not in. Sometimes I would forage food that had +mind attributes....these were emergency stuff though.
Honestly if I didnt have my CH pets (same two all the way to Master) to tank I would have quit Rifle as that 2.5 damage was a bit harsh.
Quit the game like two or three months after release. Came back a while ago and what a difference that made. Got money/armor/buffs and Rancored my way to Master.
So all in all it took like a year (well, I didnt play for most of that year) but these were the days when you had 20 person groups on Endor/Lok running and dying from everythng...
Well, those days are long over and SWG is now a solo game.

so quenkers are best?
I am having a blast wasting quenkers, myself. The point blank area suggestion is right on: Get buffed. Walk up to the quenker lair. Spray everything with laser fire.
It's sooooo much fun. I'm making up a song about how much I love to kill quenkers. Then again, I'm a Master Musician...
