Many thanks for this.

Just a quick question need some recommendations.

Thanks to respec my master artisian/marksmen/ bit commando has now changed to Master Marksmen/Commando and Novice Rifleman.

After a long break I returned to the game a few days ago and noticed the new CU and now have reached level 28, my simple question is what guns should I now be usingand how can i build up some decent xp. As a 2 tier commando i can do a lot of solo if need be but of course grouping would be nice.

Any advice for this rifleman newbie would be useful.

Cheers

My recommendation would be to get into a group of at least 4 with minimum one lvl 80 player and run level 81-82 missions. XP will build up faster than you can blink. This works really well - using this strategy I went from a noob to Master Rifles / Master Combat Medic / 0004 Doc in 3 weeks, playing approximately 4 hours a day 5 days a week. One of my new guildmates was able to accomplish the same feat (slightly different template) in 1.5 weeks, but he is a younger kid who doesn't have to work a full time job ;D

The other bonus to this is you will rack up credits at a break-neck pace as well. Credits = training (unless one of your groupmates can train you of course) or new weapons, etc.

Using this strategy you don't really need a good weapon. All you need to do is hit each enemy once and you get full XP for it (at first you will probably only gain about 1k XP per kill, but once you reach higher levels that will increase - i.e. I get in the neighborhood of 6k XP per kill at CL80). Let the rest of the group do the damage while you rack up the experience.

There are some decent weapons you can get at Novice Rifleman. Talk to a weaponsmith as they will be able to tell you exactly what weapons require what CL, skills etc. Or find the thread in this forum (sorry I'm too lazy to go find it =P) that lists all the weapons and their CL/skill requirements.

Hope this helps!

I don't know if this happens with anyone else, but every time I log in, my 'ranged attack' is set to auto-attack.

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU ARE A SOLO SNIPER!!!

The number of times I forget this happens, get in cover, do a conceal shot, only to have my cover break and the default ranged shot kick in is enough to make me mad (mostly at myself).

REMEMBER TO CHECK THIS BEFORE GOING UNDER COVER!!!

PS: Anyone know how to get this off always going to default on logging in?

EDIT: Ok, so I lied. But bedtime now, really...

I have the same problem, only my auto-attack seems to set itself randomly everytime I log in. Sometime's it's on Traumatize, sometimes it's on Ranged Attack, sometimes it's on Bacta Spray....go figure...

Uh.... there are none.

You can stack as much as you want (just remember defences stack the same way though)

go to google

site:forums.station.sony.com/swg search words here

also

site:forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/ message?board.id=rifleman search phrase here

will search just posts from the rifleman forums

eg:

site:forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/ message?board.id=rifleman ackehece

will find a bunch of posts by me

it is a much faster search of the messages here (though it is not nearly as complete) and does deliver great results

  • tatooine Mos_Eisley_Starport

  • tatooine Bestine_Starport

  • yavin4 Yavin_IV_Mining_Outpost

  • yavin4 Yavin_IV_Labor_Outpost

(Note that you can also specify player city shuttleports, just reference it by specifying the port as the name of the city as it appears on the Planetary Map.)

(Note that the optional "single" switch specifies that you only want to purchase a one-way ticket. It's round trip by default if you don't specifiy this.)

(Note that this works really well if you either assign all of these to specific macros/aliases or just the /purchaseTicket command itself, ie. "/pt".)

(Note that you also used to able to use the command "/boardShuttle Transport" to get on shuttles quickly, but I don't think it's working anymore...)

DNA Sampling:

/sampleDNA; /pause 9.5; /echo >>> sample warning!;

(Note, I'm not sure if this works anymore, but it did when I was a BEa year ago...)

(Note that you can also put /follow in there, but this tends to 'alert' the mob's and can get you in all sorts of trouble.. especially with aggressive mob's.)

House Decorating:

  • /move forward 1 [...5, 10, 25, 50, 100]

  • /move back 1 [...5, 10, 25, 50, 100]

  • /move up 1 [...5, 10, 25, 50, 100]

  • /move down 1 [...5, 10, 25, 50, 100]

  • /rotate right 15 [...30, 45, 90, 135, 180]

  • /rotateleft 15 [...30, 45, 90, 135, 180]

Grinding Craft ProfessionsMacros:

Auto-select item to craft:

/ui action toolbarPane02; (toolbar with crafting tool on it, zero based: 00-05)/ui action toolbarSlot12; (slot with the crafting tool in it, zero based: 00-11, 12-23)/pause 1; /selectDraftSchematic {#}; (schematic number... very difficult to determine nowadays)

Auto-craft item (practice) after selecting resources:

/nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /createPrototype Practice noitem; /createPrototype Practice noitem; /createPrototype Practice noitem;

(Note, works really well if you set up several tools and throw these all in together to form one long continuous crafting chain.)

Harvesters and Factories:

Initial set-up:

/nameStructure {$}; /setPermission Admin {$}; /setPermission Admin {$}; ... Set up an alias for /payMaintenance, eg: /aliaspm /payMaintenance Then you can use easily use something like "/pm 21600" to pay the maintenance...

Also, set up an for /addPower, eg: /alias ap /addPower Then you can use easily use something like "/ap 18000" toadd the power...

Other useful commands:

  • /transferStructure {$}

  • /structureStatus

  • /harvesterActivate

Equip Armor or Clothing:

Yup, the oldie but goodie is back it seems...

For example, to equip a 9 piece suit of armor, located on your 6th toolbar in slots 1-9 you could use the following:

/ui action toolbarPane05; /ui action toolbarSlot00; /ui action toolbarSlot01; /ui action toolbarSlot02; /ui action toolbarSlot03; /ui action toolbarSlot04; /ui action toolbarSlot05; /ui action toolbarSlot06; /ui action toolbarSlot07; /ui action toolbarSlot08; /ui action toolbarPane00;

Timer Notification Macros:

Like I said above, for a number of commands it's good to know when they are running out or the timer is almost over.

Replacing any ofthese commands with thismacro really seems to help:

/{command}; /pause {#}; /alarmAddIn 0 0 >>>Timer up: {$}!;

A number of abilities and situationslend themselves well to this, for example:

  • DOT's

  • TEF

  • Stimpack

  • Infusion

  • Aura/Valor/CoB

  • Knockdown

  • Mezzes

  • Spices

  • Foods

  • Buffs

  • Cyborg Abilities

  • Respawns

  • and so on...

Notes and Tips:

Remember that you can bind macros to keyboard shortcuts! Go to the "Options" window (CTRL+O), the "Controls" tab, the "Keymap" button, then the "Custom" tab. Make sure you hit "OK" when finished and try not to overwrite system keymaps if you can help it.

Write a macro to dump any running macros (/dump) and Hot Key or Keymap it!

Most commands can be abbreviated instead of needing to type the whole command. For example, you can use "/bo tr" instead of "/boardShuttle Transport".

Using CTRL+SHIFT+TAB will auto-complete a command or show a list of possible completions. For example, typing "/loo" and then pressing the keys will show "/loot", "/lootAiCorpse", "/lootPlayerCorpse". (Note that some commands shown may not be enabled, such as looting a player's corpse)

You can also use "//" to get a list of all macro commands available... there's a lot though. However, to this day I haven't figured out how to get an in-game list of all the "/ui action" commands...

/ui action toolbarSlot## Hits the desired Hot Key on the current Toolbar (1-12 on a single bar, or 1-24 on a double bar). The number is zero-based and two digit, zero-padded. For example, the first Hot Key would be "00" and the last Hot Key would be "23" (on a double bar).

/ui action toolbarPane## Goes to the desired Toolbar (1-6). The number is zero-based and two digit, zero-padded. For example, the first Toolbar would be "00" and the sixth Toolbar would be "05".

/ui action clearCombatQueue Immediately clears all commands from your action "queue" (next attack). Good for getting a particular move to occur immediately in battle.

/ui action untarget What it says, untargets your current target.

/ui action cycleTargetOutward Cycles your target from the current target to the next nearest target outward.

/ui action cycleTargetInward Cycles your target from the current target to the next nearest target inward.

/ui action targetAtCursor Makes you automatically target the object under your cursor (if there's anything there).

/macro {macro name} Executes the named macro.

/alias {name} {command} Allows you to set up your own commands. For example, "/alias hh /forceHealHealthSelf2". Note to asign an alias to an existing macro you must use /macro in the parameter (eg. "/alias mb /macro MountBike"). Use just /alias to see a list of all the ones you have set. Use /unalias to remove an alias.

/alarmAddIn {hours} {minutes} {message} Sets an alarm to go off in the specified number of hours and minutes, at which point the specified message will be displayed as a system message. Useful for letting you know when buffs are almost up and shuttles are about to arive, among others.

/alarmAddAt {hour} {minute} {message} Same as above, except now hour and minute will set the exact time that the alarm will go off. For example, "/alarmAddAt 9 30 Time for breakfast!" would make the alarm go off at 9:30 AM. The hour setting uses the 24 hour clock system, so "/alarmAddAt 20 0 Show is on TV!" would make the alarm go off at 8:00 PM. The time isbased on your computer's clock settings.
