Call me foolish but as M-Rifleman/M-SL/BH0030/Nov Carb, I mostly use sl as a solo prof. Just group with a droid just before fighting for the mods.
That and SL has some awesome exclusive weapons(all pretty much the highest dmg of their weapon type, and gosh the Dawnsorrow is freakin beautiful, you should see it fire, those weapons almost make up for it being borked).
Then again I'm turning this into an SL post, but suffice to say I love Rifleman(obviously so does the community so it's the 2nd most mastered prof behind BH).Despite the solo assassin-y-ness riflman contradicting the Squad Leader groupiness.

Yeah, the DawnSorrow is definetly a beutiful weapon. Both in terms of looks and stats! A good template might be;

Squad Leader/Rifleman/CM4000

You get group comands, group perks, you get ranged heals and an AOE heal. You also get great range so you can do damage to the enemy from behind the front lines.

A very survivable SL!

Like it's been said we don't have a way to keep targets at range, and we can't run faster than melee so they will always catch us.

I see it this way either give us back our run speed or take away the close range nerf and give us aboost to accuracy and damage at close range.

What is this "close range accuracy" nerf of which you speak? I suspect someriflemen have been hanging out with the BH "omg they nerfed our loot" crowd. M Rifles is a portion of my template, and am of the opinion that Rifles are pretty well balanced.

Not all professions have everything theywant locatedin their 1 profession. This is why you have 250 skill points. You can mix and match what one profession is lacking with what another has.

uh, yeah they do, Jedi have everything

There are 4 jedi "professions" and not one of them have "everything".

I think sniper shot should have a KD effect(make it equal to Firearm Strike)to keep a mob at range. The timer on itis long enough that the mob would still be able to recover and close some distance before the next shot, but it would allow us to take full advantage of our increased range abilities. And it makes sense given that most of the time sniper shot is our first shot taken, thetarget should be knocked down by such a powerful, unexpected shot. The way it is now we usually only have time to use our most powerful shot once, sometimes twice, before the mob closes to 20m. And most mobs close to 20m pretty quickly.

5 Jedi professions. And none of them have everything.

Defender = all the defensive modifiers

Lightsaber = All the Melee combat ability

Powers = all the ranged combat ability, and some miscilaneus extras

healer = All the healing abilities

Enhancer = all the state change abilities.

What normal professions can get out of three professions, Jedi have to pick and choose out 5.

He's right, Rifleman is pretty well balanced, and in combination with other classes, is a very lethal combination.

He is right. Rifles is pretty balanced and when played right is a devastating profession to have in combat. He is also right that with the other 144 skill points you have left over after Rifle you have plenty of room for stopping shot or underhand shot or something else to aid you in keeping your target at bay. Add in your ability to snare the target with kneecap shot and your Marksman ability to knock the target down with firearm strike and you can get by pretty good.

As an aside having once spent a few hours talking with Blixtev about the game (and lifting a few beers at the same time ) I have great respect for his knowledge of the game and his passion for it.

Is that a not-so-subtle hint that there is no close range accuracy penaltyprogrammed into the game...?

Hey and while they are at it, why not give Riflemen a root, some heal abilities and some rifle crafting. *rolls eyes* Everybody wants their prof to have everything, and it gets old. I am master rifles and i think its a fabulous prof, its very well balanced IMHO. if it had anymore perks to it it would be targeted for a NERFing. Blixtev was absolutely right, thats why you got 250 SP, use them to compensate for the weaknesses of any given prof. End-o-story.

Nice to know that the when they handed out the smart mouths, Tiggs, Virrago and GarVa weren't the only ones in line. When you go from having multiple drops on EVERY mark of high quality loot, to multiple drops on mobs very rarely and mediocre loot at best, then yes, loot was nerfed.
