Tcornwall you need to read some of his previous posts to get a real understanding of where this guy is coming from, here's some quotes from him from another thread:

"Are you even a rifleman? Do you know what kind of encumberance i would have if i wore an advanced composite helmet? I'm not a BH, my attacks cost large amounts of mind and i cant heal that,"

From this you can see that harpoon is a bit behind on the times, although it's been explained numerous times to him, he can't grasp the concept that food and buffs negate armour encumberance. He also doesn't realize that their is now food that does indeed heal the mind not to mention that muon gold has always been able to be used as an emergency mind stim.

"but then you are litearly shelling out thousands and thousands of credits just so you can pvp for a few minutes and kill one or two people.. for what?" or "And why should i have to shell out thousands on brandy?"followed by thisgem "Blowing off 800k without a problem on buffs without any return money? AT-STs dont work in PvE any more, "

You can see here that Harpoonhas been gimped by the AT-ST PVE nerf.Everyone knows cash in this game is ridiculously easy to obtain, on a previous thread people tried to explain to him numerous ways to make money, but apparently they all flew right over his head.He also appears to be very cheap, everyone else pony's up the bucks to be buffed and well armoured in PvP but for some reason Harpoon doesn't feel he should have to in order to compete /shrug Also it has to make you wonder when he says" just so you can pvp for a few minutes and kill one or two people" his skills have to be a bit lacking if even fully buffed and armoured he only gets a maximum of a couple minutes and a couple of kills from it.

"lol, ok got it. Other professions can beat us without having to be master, but we have to be master to beat them. Roger."

Here you seeHarpoon is unable to grasp the concept that master isn't everything and that this game was also designed so that people could mix and match skills tobe very competitive in PVP

Hey, i got an idea, why don't you relax your muscles a bit and bend over some more so you can get it in deeper from the rest of the uber classes and the devs?

This is the kicker Harpoon is so out of touch he hasabsouloutley no clue that riflemen at this time are considered to be one of the "uber classes".

Basically harpoon thinks he should be able to compete unbuffed and unarmoured against any opponent and be victorious. It's pretty sad that a person can be one the top combat classes in the game and be so lacking in PVP skills and unable to grasp the simplest of PVP conceptsthat they are unable toblast their way out of a wet paper bag.He also never mentions any of his other skills other then rifleman, apparently he should be able to kick everyones butt's forless then 100 skill points spent in combat.Nevermind that manyPVP'ers spend their entire 250skill points in order to be PVP machines.

Harpoon I'm a TKA and I find it nearly impossible to kill anyone with a 80% kinetic suit on, get one of those and you'll be fine and impossible to be killed by a tka.

Yep you sure can except for the fact that when you do the KD/dizzy after lunging you will get the "Your attack failed to knock down your opponent" message.

But heres the thing, if the dizzy sticks and the target was unable to get back to standing from thelungebefore you close the gap and nail them with kd/dizzy then thier is a chance they will fall down when trying to go from kneeling to standing because of the dizzy.

This is because of the dizzy and NOT the KD part of KD/dizzy. You could just nail them with lunge then dizzy and the effect would be the same as using lunge then kd/dizzy.

Their are several ways you can avoid this:

1) you can hit stand before the TKA follows up lunge with dizzy or kd/dizzy

2)you can keep a dizzy pack hotkeyed and use it to clear the dizzy before you try and go from kneeling back to standing

3) you can just stay kneeling so you wont fall down trying to change posture (not recommended as the TKA can do some serious damage to you if you stay their kneeling )

That 20m lunge is a MASTER BRAWLER move and it is just a posture change. You can get knocked down if someone dizzies you, posture changes you down and then you try to stand. I don't know how many times it's been said. TKA's only get unarmedLunge1 which is around 10m I believe. As a Rifleman when I PVP I don't get within 40m of anyone. If inside a building or city I will switch to my TKA skills but I prefer rifles.

ok i give up. Whats the point. Most riflemen are TKAs as well, they get the best of both worlds (and you can dabble in TKA and own unlike rifleman, allowing for med skills or whatever else you want)

Once they increase melee damage vs ranged i suspect people like you will drop rifleman entirely and the TKA band wagon will get a few more happy coustomers.

im sorry this isnt working. I honestly do not know why they made them so strong.

what was the logic behind the 20 meter lunge thing for brawlers? It doesnt even have to be the master brawler one that knocks you down, the novice brawler one still forces you to kneeling and then the TKA catches up and I'm **edit**ed.

I literarly waste away my mind trying to hit them, but im stopped by their stacked defences. Armour or buffs do not matter once they posture-down me, because thats followed up by a KD/dizzy and its over, im on the floor and they're smashing me for 600 raw damage. TKAs say that I should "keep my distance" but they are BSing, they know that all PvP takes place in cities at close quarters, with short line of sight paths and if you are being chased its easy for them to catch up because you have to take corners and they get closer each time. And if its a rat-fu.ck battle you can forget about even that, you'll be shooting someone else and suddenly the clone menu pops up.

And guess what, they are giving melee a big boost vs ranged weapons next patch. As if TKA didnt own enough. When TKA are able to hit me at 1/3 of my maximum range FOR MY RIFLE... something is screwy

not to mention that they have by far the easiest time in pvp, doing 2000 damage per hit, having tons of bonouses vs melee attackers (read: 90% of the mobs) soloing the tusken fort, or what i saw today at the rancor valley - a TKA soloing 3 rancors at a time with a pile of dead rancors around him.

Regarding the 20m lunge: Lunge2 has a 20m range. Lunge1 is more like 15m. But even so, that is only two attacks, the special effects of which (KD and posture change, respectively) can only work once every 30 seconds. The rest of their attacks have a 10m range at most. Yes, even the 10m range is unrealistic. But come on, we are carrying around guns that do not exist anywhere in the real world and wearing personal shields and armors that do not exist in the real world. Therefore, we do not really want too much realism brought in to the game. Besides, they do not just get an aim penalty past 20m; they have no chance to hit at all past 20m. In their optimal range, we at least still get to shoot them, although wth bigger aim penalties.

The 15 and 20m ranges are to give them a chance to stop kiters. So instead of having to keep at least 10m away from them, you have to keep 20m away. That is not that big of a deal, and, as said earlier,it is only a couple of attacks anyway. Every one of our attacks can hit them over the full 64m combat radius. Yes, it is unrealistic, but it is balance.

Besides, PvP does not take place at close quarters unless you let it. If you are within20m of a melee player, then more often than not, it is because you chose to be, or you were not paying attention. If you are only a rifleman, and not a Master at that, you have no business being in close quarters. None. You know, just because they are red to you, does not mean that you are obligated to kill them, especially if you can only do it on the battlefield of their choosing. Yes, cities have constricted areas, but they also have areas which are large and open, and you can position yourself where you have the advantage. You do not have to pursue them where you are in a position of weakness.

For instance, we were in on a big harassment raid the other day at a player city. I positioned myself in a large open area behind the base we were attacking, andI had a clear view of all avenues of approach. One particular player, on a couple of occasions, charged into our group, and I targeted him and started taking out his mind. When he realized he was about to go down, he ran around the base and into it. Now, I could have easily gone in after him. I am a Master Brawler and a Master Swordsman as well, and I could probably easily taken him. However, there was no need to. Eventually, he came back out and I killed him at range. There was no need for me to go into the base and fight in the venue of his choosing. And in the end, he died and not me. Sometimes, you do not have the choice, but more often than not, you do.

Your complaints do not hold water. You cannot have the ability to hit them throughout the entire 64m combat radius plusthe ability to hit them for more than two-thirds of that combat range where they cannot hit you at all, and not expect them to have some distinct advantages when you get within 20m of them. Here is another way of looking at it. If you know that they have a 20m range where they will probably own them, and you have a 44m range where, barring stupidity, you will always own them, why, under any circumstances but absolute emergencies (such as to stop a base shutdown) would you ever get within 20m of them?

And finally, if you are not armored, and more specifically, you are not buffed, you are going to die in PvP far more often than you are not. Get foods and buffs and get as much armor as you can wear and still function, and you will not only survive PvP, but do well, but only if you have sufficient skills to prevail, and you play to your strengths.

you got your numbers are wrong lunge 1 is only 15m and when you take into account server lag its actually 7-10m range. Anyway get some good armour and ull have to try to lose...

That's not true. I tested Unarmed Lunge 1 with a novice brawler character after standing stationary for a few seconds, exactly 20m from a mob who was also not moving. I hit him with the attack...tried again, sameconditions but different mob, again a hit at 20m. Besides, even 15m would be too much of a range for a melee attacker. Brawlers are supposed to have to get close...20m is a pistol's good range, way too far for a TKA to hit even if a higher range is purposely put in to compensate for lag.

Oh and btw, hitting with a rifle for 2k in PvP is a very good hit, not a typical one.

I have a bad feeling about this nerf

Come on man... are you gonna post every day saying that XXX beat you? Yesterday it was the uber BH's, today it's the uber TKA? If it upsets you so much, do a different profession. People like you are the ones who get the ball rolling of the nerf bat. Either adapt or move on!!!

Ok from a Master TKA who pvp alot, here is how I attack Riflemen

I burst run towards him, hit unarmed lunge so he cant kite me. Then go for knockdown and headhit. Why headhit even if its buffed? Well if he manages to get up and run he wont have that much mind left to spend on his specials. Speed is very essential here, for me.

The only times I ever lost in PvPwas against Riflemen and once against a fencer.

What did the Riflemen do? They kept away, and spammed master headshot while I was in open placesof Cities, and couldnt hide very good (Starport, waiting for shuttle and Theed). I had composite armor helmet on and was powerboosted.

*sigh*

Ok this is what a rifle should do when fighting any melee.

On first sight fire Flurry 1 or 2 for dizzy stops burst run...

Secondly get a flurish in there for stun makes them easier to hit then use a few headshots 2 or 3 to start there mind going down.

Make sure you are alaways running

Now use a few more headshots making sure to keep them dizzy.

If its a teras kasi use sniper shot the second there down if they get a chance to force of will just repeat process using strafe if they have low hams after fowing.
