Finally, something somewhat constructive...

Well, the key is having some sort of Melee abilities to control mobs that get too close..and no, the mobs don't have to be agro.

/ui selecttargetInward and /ui selecttargetOutward (I'm going from memory, pretty sure that's it) when typed into the chat box actually auto targets anyting (Inward-Closer) (Outward-furthest available target). The macro simply targets the furthest possible target in your range, then the next line of the macro is /attack, which attacks the selected target..much like double clicking the red X or other means to attack in real-time. Next, the macro (again, not sure from memory) is /ui selectToolbar00 '00' being the upper left most bar on your hotbar..basically, the F1 key...there are, i think 12 across if I'm not mistaken, so the numbers are like

00 01 02 03 04 05....and so on. the /ui selectToolbar00 would basically select whatever is hotkeyed to F1, soooo..if you have a rifle there, it equips the rifle. You can at this point do at /kneel or /prone to gain more accuracy to kill the target. Set the next line as a /pause 20 for pausing so many seconds to allow enough time for misses, then simple /stand on the next line and then /ui selectToolbar00, which, you guessed it..unequips teh rifle...from here, you can either stay unarmed to finish off any mob that gets close enough, or switch to another weapon, say...a pistol, which is good at close range. heck, you can even throw in a line there that adds a stim-heal for good measure, but i have never needed it. Oh, on the LAST line of the Macro, you simply do a /ui selectToolbar03 or whatever, wherever you have your macro hotkey located---and that repeats the macro...so you cycle target, attack, equip rifle, kill, unequip, repeat macro, etc...Only works for Non-aggro mobs...that's the hard part, finding higher level (well sorta) mobs that will not aggro or assist. There are a lot of mobs out there that do this, but it takes some time to find them..

Initially, that's why I came to this forum to get help with..luckily, I found a mob that gives 680exp per kill, one shot kills that spawn within my macro cycle....just have to tweek the pause times and that's it.

Thanks, Leche that's actually some very helpful information. I'm on my last4 bars now. Thank you for your suggestion and I will try to put it to good use.

By the way, I asked the CSR in live chat directly about the macro I was using and what I was using it for...No problems.

Thanks again leche,

Folks, listen up:

AFK Macroing IS NOT aganist the SOE terms of agreement, or policys. CSR's will take no action aganist those who use it.

You WILL however get suspended if you are suspected of using THIRD PARTY macroing systems (Such as one that will click your mouse for you).

This has been confirmed by all the forum mods, several chat mods, and holocron himself.

sad to say it, but its true.

(Btw this issue came up about 3 weeks ago when someone asked if they could report afk-macroing entertainers)

I agree, Zariell, it is a sad state of affairs. It is not that the practice is good for the game or even what they intended. It may well be that they are now saying that it is third-party stuff they are trying to prevent, but that is just a smoke screen. There is nothing ambiguous about that provision in the licensing agreement. It does not say "third party macro or other programs" or something to that effect. It clearly says that you cannot use macros or third party programs to play in an unattended fashion. Therefore, they have decided enough people are doing it that they are afraid to crack down on the practice and that they do not have the will to stop macro looping programmatically, so, like someone said earlier, they do not have the backbone to enforce the rule.

So Physion is right, he is apparently allowed to do this. But I question the use of the term legitimate in relation to this practice. It is not legitimate; it is an unfair practice. For instance, I have a friend whose holo told him he had to be a Squad Leader. Not much likelihood that he is going to be able to macro his way though the millions of points of Group XP that he is going to have to get to achieve the same goal. So unless everyone is going to have to go through Squad Leader to be a Jedi, the practice of macroing your way through is inherently unfair to others trying to achieve the same goal but cannot use macros to achieve the same result. So I still stand by my statements earlier, only I will accept that SOE has lost its will to enforce rules they setup to make the game fair and balanced.

I, therefore, do not fault you, Physion, for you are apparently are correct that you aredoing nothing that violates current policy.I, for one, will not judge you if you choose do this since it is allowable, but neither should you judge me or others who consider the practice unfair, for, as you are surely aware, there is a big difference between that which is allowed and that which is fair. Thus, I cannot help you with this request. My previous offer stands, however. If you do choose to actually Master the profession as the game was intended by actually playing the character, I will give you any help I can in how to be a Rifleman. But I simply cannot in good consciencegive you advise to help you breeze through something that others are going to actually have to put some work into. Either way, good luck to you.

culdor i totally agree with what you said. all I see now is people becoming rifleman when before holocrom crap nobody was. before that it was hard to get training and you had to pay a rifleman trainer to level up.

You know what's sad - how many of the same people will now try this to grind to master jedi, then complain about how useless the profession is now they've mastered it.

BTW i stand by my statement about banning. I reported an AFK user taking on the Ragtags in Kor Vella in live chat. I waited until the CSR came on and dealt with the issue, and i the dealt with the lame ass leet dude spamming my mailbox for a week after until he was banned.

I now play regularly with the same leet dude who has now worked his way up the smuggler tree using NORMAL play methods. He now backs me up in a lot of faction missions - last night we took down our first At-ST without pets, and without getting incapped.

Whilst it's sad that so many people have resorted to afk dancing, these are the same people who then whine about tips. My wife pulls in 10-15k an HOUR as a master musician who stays online and TALKS to her customers. She doesn't find it boring, she finds it part of the game. It's a MULTI-PLAYER game, something obvious that many seem to miss the point off.

As for AFK surveying, to me that is the ONLY legitimate use for afk macro's since five minutes of that sends you to sleep.

My beef with afk combat macros is that you detract from the play of other people by stopping them legitimately hunting targets on the training grounds etc. It's bad enough with all the ch's using durnies etc as fodder for their gsp's without this sort of garbage.

Can't wait to see my first afk jedi - spamming saberthrow for 8 hours. Hope they get a tef, 'cos i'm gonna be sitting there with a t21 and poison bleeding them so that they enjoy their 'game play' experience all the more.
