I heard they were adding an an adjustable shower nozzle to guns ... (for rock paper scissors type interaction vs certain types of armor).

Then they say specials will cost time not HAM ... well they already do cost time unless you are speedcapped. So the main thingI want to know is how will rifle speed mod play out in the CU.

Thanks, should it take a while to get a Beta Registration Confirmation email? I clicked all the appropriate buttons but been waiting a while for afore mentioned mail.

Beta invites will probably head out after Alpha is significantly under way. You have a small wait ahead of you

Just go play EQ2 for a while to get a feel for how SWG is gonna be after the Combat Upgrade. The whole 'special/wait/special-pseudo-turn-based' system works for that game, but then again there is NO PVP in EQ2. It's not hard to learn how to still 'spam specials' in that game... you just can't spam the same special over and over.

I think just about every other MMORPG already uses that 'special/wait/special or cycle' system anyway. SWG is just late to adopt it... they tried to be different and found out that a ton of their pay-to-beta... er, I mean... pay to play players didn't like the system.

I'm just now adopting Rifleman. Been through all the other combat prof's. I'd say Rifleman may be the one prof that spamming specials might be necessary, honestly. Then again, I'm new to it.

DaveG,

I certainly agree with your point and feel very much the same regarding the time factor as I hunt without buffs like you do (but with my pets as tanks in PvE - I don't PvP).

However, as feedback is good....I am hoping (and laying trust) in that the testing will work out the flaws (or create work arounds) of the impact on rifleman as affected by this time delay.

All we can do is hope for the best and provide what little feedback we can without knowing the full impact of what is happening in testing.

Yes! Just like DAOC....you get all your high damage specials out first, and hope that you live long enough to get a second chain in....if this is the case, SWG combat will be awesome, the PvP in that game was great, same with Lineage 2, those specials were on a timer as well, that system works quite well...the only prob in lineage 2 is it's devoid of content and the economy was destroyed early on by oversees player bots who just farm money all day, then ebay it for cash...of course $30 American dollars in Korea is alot of money...

All I will say is that you need to forget all you know. You can't compare how the combat will be after the CURB with any known system yet.

Well, they are called Specials for a reason, they were intended (IMO) to be used occasionally. You don't see a Karate Master use all of his super kung-fu moves in 10 seconds, you gotta throw your basic punch and kick in there or else you'll end up exhausted.

That's my take on it, and the CU will probably make the game a whole lot more fun.

I just find it really hard to believe that SOE is going to 're-invent' the MMORPG system in its entirety. It's going to have to fall in line with some of the other systems out there.

I understand that this'CU' is going to take another 5-6months at least. I understand that a great deal of time and effort is going into it. Every Dev that posts says 'unlearn that which you have learned' and be ready for something 'completely different'.

I would expect the NDA should not apply to paying customers of the game.

Again, next billing cycle that comes around... my credit card information is under NDA until after the Combat Upgrade.

The biggest reason for the NDA is that anything they are planning can and will change during testing. It is better to not set expectations then to create an expectation and not meet it.
