My other personality always tells me that.
But I don't listen..
I hate him.
I'm going to kill him.
Then I will be free.
Free of his torment.
Free of his nagging.
The voice in my head must die..
VIVA LA CHEESE!!

isnt chargeshot1 the attack that gets around the restriction of only one KD every 30 seconds??
It was Barb but it was fixed to be inline with all other KD's so now they can't fire it all the time. And forany Carbineer that said they didn't see this coming is only fooling themselves.

Its also the shot Devs said was "working as intended" up until they "fixed" it in Publish 6. So take that as you will.

thats what i thought. in that case it is a fix not a nerf.

the things people call "silent nerfs" are bugs
I see no difference in a designer bug and a silent nerf. They equate to the same thing.
I cannot believe Barb really thinks this. Let me remind you of a patch that had nothing to do with Droids(like most), but somehow the code gotmistook somewhere and make crafting modules became nonprivate! By accident or by design? You better believe it was by design. Even though they handwaved it away as a bug. No they do stealth nerf, and call it what you may, it happens everyday, not just everypatch.
Having problems with the call command in datapad, well that's a designer bug to drive CHers crazy.

So lets see by your theory, since some dev while programming to make rifleman 2.5x easier to hit instead make us 2.5x harder to hit. Well they finally identify where in the code that makes this happen, and fix this in a hot patch but don't put anything in the notes on it, because it is now working as is intended. Well then that is a silent nerf, and SOE is out to screw us over and total destroy us.
Sometimes using your brain helps.

See? Well, for now, most things in rifleman "work as intended". But that is no garuantee that things will not be changed to the worse.
No matter if you call it "fix", "improvement", "side effect", "balance" or "nerf". This stuff happens. All the time.
And if you get hang up on the carbine example now, you totally missed my point. My point is, we do not have complete patch notes before it goes live. Not all changes are put in Testcenter before they make it to live. Not all stuff in patch notes that is called "fix" or "improvement" or "balance" actually means a positive change. And not all stuff that is changed is in the patch notes anyway.
Believe in a coming nerf or not. Campaign against people fearing a nerf as much as you want to.
Your argument is still invalid.
Barb-Wire wrote:
yeah we know they are at times innacurate but in general the things that change they dont announce are unintentional side effects of not really being able to test changes and how they affect the live servers. once we are able to character copy over a lot more folks me included will be testing our specific professions and these things wont happen as much.
CaLVines wrote:Anyone who has been playing this game for a while should have learned enouhg not to trust the patch notes. They are incomplete, inaccurate, and they do not tell you everything that get's changed. And often enough, they don't tell you what is nerfed. Ask carabineers about chargeshot if you doubt it.
Yes Barb, you could still be right. In fact I hope you are.
But IMHO your argument is naive, weak and wrong. No offence, but the facts from more than 6 months of SOE publishes just speak against your argumentation.
carbines have not had any attention to date. publish 7 will take care of part of this. and publish 8 will change how HAM affects combat. publish 7 looks like a good thing for carbineers to me.
as for publish8 no one knows... but i see little sense in running around in a blind panic worrying about it till the changes are announced. we cant even really make suggestions yet on it since we have no idea what they are intending to do.
my original post was more to point out the silliness of worrying about things we dont know. i think our profession is better served by understanding how our skills interact with other professions and skills and then making feedback based on that understanding.
one thing i would like to comment on is that i see a LOT of people making wild claims about how we have so-called stealth nerfs and a lot of times the people that originate those claims havent even read the current patch notes and dont know for sure that something is a bug or not intended and they dont bother to read the TC forum for known bugs and issues. a god example is the claim that bleeds are stealth nerfed to hit random pools. that is a bug not a nerf. CH claimed that pets standing on us and pets running all over was a stealth nerf. the day after the patch the devs made a post saying this would be fixed in the CH forum itself in response to another poster, this rumour still persists. all three of these issues were addressed ina hotfix today... if it ws a nerf i doubt the devs would bother to hot-fix it. another good example is over in the jedi forums people are STILL claiming that there is a jedi-unlocking stealth nerf and right above that post are numerous posts about happy folks who had just unlocked their slots...
take the panic from the un-informed for what its worth and dont work urself up into a frenzy from the loonatic fringers.
Green highlight - completely and totally false. The very first comments on it within hours of the publish going live was that is was a bug. The CH forum overwhelmingly demonstrated that this was a bug, that is was repeatable and that it was causing many people serious gameplay issues. Perhaps 2 or 3 posts in the entire forum have speculated that it was a deliberate nerf, and one of those was in jest.
Yellow highlight - again, utterly false. It took THover 2 days toacknowledge there might be a problem (that was effectively preventing many people from playing, despite Barb's claims to the contrary)and a further10 days for Runesabre to say they were working on it, in the middle of which TH made a comment that made us believe they had no clue what the problem was.
No intention of hijacking the thread, just wanted to to offer some actual facts to refute Barbs 'errors' as they pertain to my profession of CH- take it as you will, but I find it ironiccoming fromsomeone attempting to belittle other players for being un-informed.
