i thought the deal was the dev would consider upping our damage and reducing the 2.5 melee *IF* we got capped at 3.


but a previous poster was right.... we shouldn't be arguing about changes that the developer was just brainstorming in response to our complaints about damage and the melee penalty.

And guys, where does that cap theoretically come in? Before or after you consider the multiplier for a special attack? It affects the arguement greatly... If its before an HS3 will take like 9 seconds to fire off at Master. If its after, you could probably shoot it off nearly at 3.0


Personally, I like the idea. If anyone has read Volsted's guide to weapons, it'll show that at novice, the rifleman is only lagging slightly behind the average pistoleer in true DPS, of course, very quickly the pistols hit that 1.0 speed cap, which limits their prowess. I know a Master pistoleer who is essentially nerfed against rifleman because he doesn't have the punching power OR the flexibility of a T21 against armored targets.


While it may be a strike against us at Master, I have to say, we shouldn't be able to keep up with BHs and Commandos, based on the number of skill points they have to invest, so this move is a step in the right direction (assuming the cap is AFTER the special time multiplier)

Blankgrun I play a BH and also a Rifleman-


True BH's use 217 Skill points but their specials still only cost action.


Our skills cost mind wich is a bigger disadvantage than the skill point argument-Note not just the specials that attack mind hit mind, but all of them. Our speed advantage is set off by the fact our specials drain a pool that is extremly hard to heal. So though we deal quick heavy damage, we also drian a good chunk of mind rather quickly.


No the 3 second garbage is a bad idea, we are not uber. When we use all 250 skillpoints we become uber though as anyone should be.

I've posted this thought a number of times, so we get the cliffnotes version:


We will never see high enough Damage raise to offset even a 2.0 sec cap. Because of the one shot. We can occasionally do it now, and if they up our damage by the same ratio 2.0 cap = 2.0x damage bonus, we will one-shot on a steady basis, earning us a big ol' NERF. If they up damage by less, it's a DPS nerf. Take your pick. Not to mention what happens if Pistols get a lowered cap...


We can't have this happen.

A 3s cap will kill riflemen. If Bh's can shoot 6 times faster than us, we're screwed. They can already do more mind damage than us with eyeshot, think about what happens now.
