Thread: How many RM hate Jedi?

Its all about fire direction. 80% block is alot of times but when ya got 10 rifleman unloading something has gotta land.
yeah - and guess what - that is how the droid army decimated the jedi on Geonosis. 5000+ shooting at 500 and some hits will get through. Unfortunately on most servers Jedi hunt Special Forces in packs of 5-20 now...which means for the rifleman to win they have to volley fire on each target as a group and take the hits the others will dish out. Oo - got annihilated the other day on Eclipse due to this.
with 10 firing at 1 jedi probably 1 hit will get through - if everyone fires 1 per sec then that jedi is going down but one on one a jedi will eat a rifleman alive and possibly even up to 3 on 1 they have a chance to win.

1./ there is no accuracy cap
2./ I highly doubt you one shot killed a fully buffed jedi (if you have the uberest T21 on ur server and did infact do this, then props)

The Jedi in the movies block most of what is thrown at them if they have their lightsabers up.
Episode one: Obi and what's his name blocks *all* the incoming fire of two driodekas shooting at them on full auto with heavy blasters.
Episode two: If you put the battle of Geonosis in a SWG context the Jedi would still die like flies due to the sheer number of droids - Even if the Jedi did block 80% of the incoming shots, there'd still be plenty that went past their defences to hit them. On a sidenote, Jango skillfully eliminated a Jedi that was renowed for his diplomatic skills and not his saber fighting if I remember correctly. (www.starwars.com databank)
Episode five: Darth Vader purposely let Han shoot at him to demonstrate his power. He blocked the blaster shot with his *hand* instead of just ripping the blaster out of Hans grip, proving his superiority thus causing dispair and fear in his opponents to keep them in check. How would you feel if the Jedi ingame could block blaster bolst with their hands?
Episode six: Luke gets shot in his mechanical hand if I remember correctly, while holding his saber in front of him and while being distracted by something else. At this point, Luke was barely a Jedi knight and as such didn't have as good a danger sense that he could anticipate the shot from the sniper.
However, I agree that the Jedi ingame have run rampant and most PvP has been reduced to Jedi throng vs. Jedi throng. Before pub. 9-10 you'd frequently see PvP raiding parties in cities like Bestine and Coronet but now that just don't happen since the Jedi set the PvP Agenda - the side with most Jedi wins the battle. Unless Vader or Leia lands with a bunch of hard ass NPCs
The method of solving this would be taking Jedi out of the GCW and giving them a proper FRS system that isn't totally messed up.

Is that all it takes? Well, we'll all just rush right out a get a few. Please.
Jedi should be nowhere near as powerful, nor as plentiful, as they are in this game. If you'll remember, they were hunted to near extinction by bounty hunters. Many, many Jedi died on Geonosis, even during a time when they were still particularly powerful. Luke Skywalker, strong in the force was he, was shot by a "shemp" in Return of the Jedi. Jango offed one fairly easily at point blank range; he nearly took Mace Windu with the flamethrower. Obi-Wan and Anakin were rounded up by the Geonosans and Jango Fett before the clones and the other Jedi came to their rescue. Even Master Qui-Gon Jinn can be quoted as saying "I can only protect you, not fight a war for you." Jedi in the storyline realized their own mortality, even when particularly skilled at preserving it.
A master in any profession should be just that: a master in using his particular skill set. A master rifleman should be capable of doing ranged damage against any creature at range, Jedi or no. Should a master rifleman be able to one shot kill a Jedi Knight? Probably only with luck, great equipment, and superior tactical advantage. Should a master rifleman at least have a chance at range to deal significant damage with decent weapons against any creature, including Jedi? Yes. That also applies to any other combat profession and bounty hunters (master marksmen, after all).
Fan is correct. SaberBlock is an absolute. It's a flat chance to block the the shot regardless of accuracy or of how many people are firing at the Jedi.
I won't say I hate Jedi. I'd say I'm mostly disappointed in how they are in game.
One thing about Jedi is their 'code'. A Light Jedi is suppose to be a force for good and live by a specific code. There is no such 'code' in SWG. Nor am I sure you could even put one in. For those of you that played D&D. The Jedi is the Paladin. If they fail to live by their code they turn to the dark side.
The problem is that Jedi are a super elite profession. They are more powerful than a regular player for the same SP cost. As they are suppose to be. Remember the fear in the Trade Federation when just two Jedis came on board their base ship? They had thousands of droids to protect them but just two Jedi (one a Knight and one a Padawan) had them quaking in their boots.
But in SWG we have this issue. Any type of super-elite profession, being better than the other professions, will cause people to gravitate towards them. Which could threaten the viability of the combat professions.
Combat is a bit different in that all the combat professions have the exact same goal. To kill things. They just do it a bit differently. And Jedi is a combat profession. So if you want to be the most effective in combat, Jedi is really the best choice. That is if you have the time to put in to get it. Is it hard to get a Jedi? Or just time consuming?
The main complaint isn't that they are to powerful. They are suppose to be. It's that they are to plentiful. Especially in this time period. Jedi are suppose to be nearly extinct. However in SWG that main mechanism for keeping this super-elite combat profession limited was removed awhile back. Which has helped the Jedi population expand greatly. At the time it was necessary because of a number of game issues.
But the Jedi in game are not like the Jedi I think of when I think of SW. ![]()

....is with a melee tank, be it another knight or a stacker. Once teh j3d3y3 start swinging at me, I'm pretty much done for; the operational goal is to keep the other field targets more desireable for the jedi to hit. (and I use a +126 accuracy "normal" damage DXR6b)

He does. Maybe not the best t-21 on the server, but it's nasty.
Seen him do it at a base raid, dropped the bastid as he ran away from the battle in one shot. The jedi had just healed and was on the FR2 or FR3 highway, yet ended up taking the quick way home.
