Thread: Sniper Shot
Rifleman is also more attractive now that the dmg modifier is gone.
DOn't ditch MTKA, just do master rifleman/TKA.
I knew Sri'Kandi would find me! She's evil I tell you! ![]()
No but I am probably going Rifleman soon so...
First of all I am not sure I'll buy the whole "most players do not PvP" line. I am pretty sure that most upper level riflemen PvP at least some of the time. I am not a hard core PvPer, but these days I log on dily to a PA summons to either defend my city or raid someone else's city and barely do anything but PvP. In any case, sniper shot rocks, and don't touch a single thing about it before you get it nerfed into oblivion.Thereis a PvE only attack (conseal shot) so why notPvP only? As far as being a lvel 4 skill, take a look at the consealment line, you get a level 4 skill (1.225 million XP) that is useless in both PvP and PvE. How about Countersnipe 4? Who the hell uses startle shot 2?We should direct our effortsas a group to get theseissues resoved before whining about sniper shot, which is an awsome skill for at least some of the members of the profession.

There is actually a lot to dislike about it. The majority of the players don't PvP. So this skill is of very limited use.
Personally I'd like to see them add a PvE aspect to this skill. Leave the PvP as is. But give it some PvE use. It is after all a level IV skill (1.225 million XP). So it should be able to be used by even those that don't PvP.
My opinion is in PvE make it the same as a HeadShot3 but also does blind. Or something along those lines. A headshot plus a status effect. Single target only of course.
Actually that most people PvE is pretty much fact. There was a poll question and solo PvE was the clear winner in regards to type of combat most common. Also when you log on run around some. What do you see more of? People PvP or PvE?
ConcealShot does have some uses in PvE. It was posted in this forum that using it in PvE had some interesting effects. Mainly that the target doesn't auto-attack back. So it does have some limited PvP use. Especially in large battles where it can be used to help hide the rifleman in the confusion.
I agree that StartleShot1 and StartleShot2 are practicaly useless and need some help. But that doesn't mean we can't ask for a PvE use of SniperShot too. I'm not asking for any aspect of the PvP use of it be changed. Just that they add something for PvE too.
Right now it is probably the most restricted (or top 2) of all combat skills. It can only be used in PvP and then only against an incap'd opponent.

For all of you that say "Sniper shot doesn't do anything in PvE, Boo Hoo, I hate the Devs," you need to do a reality check. What is there to possibly dislike about a ranged DB? ...snip stuff I never encounter...
And here is YOUR reality check: I have never fired this special. To me, Concealed Shot is the best special THIS rifleman/ranger has. Try hunting with that Sniper Shot a few times
.
There is more to SW:G then PvP. ![]()

Yes, but just a question... Why kill mobs after you're done with the character training? Sure, holohunting or something of the like but that you don't need an extra special attack for.I personally have never tried Snipershot but seen it in use by friends plenty of times and it's absolutely FANTASTIC! I just love it.
Have you ANY clue how much I make selling organics?
if you want a high dmg single target attack (we all do) fix surprise shot or startleshot2 to do something useful. leave Snipershot alone, it's perfect in it's simplicity and hell yes it deserves to be in a level IV box. your opinion may be other wise, and you may say "the majority of the players don't pvp" -well the response to this thread shows that there are plenty of rifleman who PvP and love this skill just the way it is. there are plenty of PvE skills for rifleman, there is no reason to make something of /snipershot that it wasn't intended to be.
barb-wire - no way is PvP just "lucky rolls of the dice" - there are good pvp'ers, average pvp'ers, and just plain bad pvp'ers. it DOES take skill and strategy (and sometimes luck conquers all, but that is far more rare on average). Pit two rifleman against eachother, with the exact same template, armor, and ham - and you'll see two different strategies. the more experienced one will probably win 8 or 9 out of 10 times. ![]()
Great post Jeisyn.
It always makes me laugh when people say PvP takes no skill. It may not be "skill" but you can put two people in the same position with the exact same character and one will live, the other will die and not due to "rolls".
I've played a lot of games and PvPed in most of them, FPS or MMOG or RTS and there are ALWAYS players you want to kill / stay away from, and it's notdue to their equipment or luck with dice, it's because they know how to play their toon, aim, etc.
I can accept that PvP isn't for everyone, but to dismiss it as pointless or totally luck based is just silly.
Set up a hotkey bar for PvP and one for PvE... All your PvP speacials macroed with /deathblow .... you just have to close some distance ... If you got that working and learn how to get up that close... no snipershot is gonna get that before you if you land the incapping blow.
