I'm sorry but I just can't take how badly rifleman do in pvp/pve. We have a 2.5x melee penalty, accuracy worste than pistols, a 3.0 speed cap coming up, and some pistols on my server have as good damage as laser rifles with far less speed. People say we are elite because we deal mind damage but that isnt very true. First of all eyeshot is far better than our AOE mind attack and our attacks drain mind instead of action so for rifles in pvp by using a special your practically hurting yourself if you don't hit for like 4k dmg. Pistols will also be better for me because im a doctor and I will be able to rez/heal faster in combat vs. a 5.0 speed laser rifle.

Rocacca, I noticed that you are on Ahazi server. If you want to, meet me at Dantooine at the Imperial outpost, tonight at about 9:30 p.m. PST. I can show youwhat you would be when you become a master rifleman. I am a Master Rifleman (not a master marksman), MCH and some medic skill . If i want a fast kill, I would use muon gold, but I normally don't use them. Oh,I have sliced laser rifles that do about 550 dmg without any powerups but I normally use a sliced E11 that only do about 200 dmg (again no powerups, because of faster decay)

Just ignore the "so call" 3.0 speed cap. It's not concrete and there is no evidence that this is even on testing or what-so-ever. Reply if you are interested.

how come Rifleman has to use strategy and other classes dont?

Ok..I'll give you that. They should have to use more strategy at lower levels. At master they have to use strategy to beat a Master Rifleman. The obvious answer is that they are overpowered at lower levels in their profession and that needs to be balanced. You fix it by raising their bar not by lowering ours.

Becomming a master rifleman was probably on of the toughest things I have ever done in this game. It was worth it at this point because I'm finally having fun in pvp. If other classes were as challenging this game would be a lot more exciting all around.

Harpoon:

"yeah, and blind isnt overpowering. Riflemen hit every shot at all ranges anyway, and are more accurate than pistol users, and are especially accurate at close range. Being blinded will not effect them. "

Show me one class that "hits every shot at all ranges anyway [Which I take to mean while blinded]." Then, maybe I'll believe your platitudes.

"OH WAIT-hold up. Your pet. Is this the rifleman boards or the CH boards? I'm sorry, but a novice marksman with a CDEF pistol can own too if they have their pet to tank."

First, riflemen can survive without a pet, so your point is already moot. Secondly, a lot of classes "need" (Though I suspect it's just lack of strategy) pets, so harping on this as a rifleman-specific issue is also rather sillyof you.

"the numbers speak for themselves. Compare the dev's percentages on BHs, Commandos, Pistoleers.... and compare it to rifleman. Theres a reason no one dabbles in rifle. All the serious PvPers know they suck."

Correct. There are more BHs, Commandos, and Pistoleers, precisely because the majority of players prefer to be uber.

Yes and No. A few people do dabble in rifle (So you are wrong to say "no one"). Rifle dabblers most likely do "suck" in PvP. This is because the Rifleman power curve is almost asymptotic, while the power curve fora lot of the perceived "uber" classes is mainly logarithmic. Rifleman provide a huge reward for mastering the profession, closer to the way things should be. Gaining 90% of your power at lower skill levels (0/0/2/0 BH, as some claim) is not rewarding, nor should it be that way.

Finally, learn how to play your class. Riflemen are not really meant to engage in open 1v1 PvP. If this is what you like to do, and if raids are not common enough for you, do not play the class.

But, then again, knowing your past history... you'll probably have some (marginally, apparently) witty retort that according to you instantly and completely refutes all of my points.

glad you finaly realized that

it shouldn't be this way

0/0/2/0 BH can totally kill all riflemen... andeven kill a master sharpshooter half the time

*sigh*

I dont believe this, two pages where ppl are saying the same things over and over again. Ill try to bring something new here.

Strategy in gameplay, especially pvp, is what makes pvp so fun. Not how fast it takes to bring someone down but instead the fight itself. "eyeshot eyeshot eyeshot...." isnt my idea of fun. If the other professions lack strategy then the problem is there, not here. I have been mudding alot, without pushing you profession to the limit you would never be a good pvp'er. Not exploiting mind you, but using combat timers and skills in a costumised combination, which would change for each given enemy, you could take down any enemy.

I sought rifleman for that reason, if you didnt THEN LEAVE.
If you cannot adapt you will never benefit from this class. And you know what, since strategy is already needed in this class they wont change so much here. I believe that the devs want us to learn each profession close to perfection to truly master it. So the other classes are looking at a makeover
As I said in another post, this profession is not for the simple minded. Let us leave it at that.

Ah, the witty retort (that, incidentally, completely missed my point).

BHs are stupidly planned out. They are the ones that don't fit what a good game should be. Stop complaining that rifleman suck. If eyeshot were moved to master, I wonder if you would complain as much.
