Thread: rifleman and the new delay

I actually like the fact that it delays you when putting on armor. My only complaint is that they should show you what you have waiting to put on. I got in the game the other day and went to my armor toolbar to put on all my armor after I got off my bike, but when it didn't equip I kept trying to equip pieces. What ensued was me standing around for a minute or 2 equipping and unequiping armor while I waited for the delay to catch up with my impatient mouseclicks .

After that I realized what I had done and tried to be careful. Acouple times durring battle, and once durring a duel however,I wasn't sure if I had clicked on a weapon because the switch was taking so long and I accidently ended up unequiping it again after I had equiped it leading to a painfully long delay. They need to add all the new delayed clicks to the que so we don't end up creating unwanted delays.

Other than that one fact it didn't make too much difference. I went out hunting Janta and mok and with only buffs and 2 brandy (no armor) I was able to take out the whole bunch and the lair in 2 minutes. It was a little tricky knowing when to switch to my pike so I didn't get pounded on, but once I got the hang of it I barely noticed a difference. Dueling for me changed quite a bit. Being a pikeman and having a few DOT pikes I had to change my style quite a bit and still don't have it perfected. Even with only rifles I still used to switch between my e-11 for accuracy, jawa, laser and T21 quite often.

I don't know what all the whining is about, it was a very slight change, and nothing that ruined the game. Sure its got some problems that will probably be fixed when we least expect it, but in the mean time quit being so negative about small stuff. You are starting to sound like the LA Times.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, except it took me longer to figure out what was going on.

As for the delays:

Armour delay: Fixes something that was extremely unrealistic, and at the moment, anything that makes PvE harder should be welcomed (IMO). You want armour, you wear the darn stuff BEFORE something decides to attack you, it's that simple. And yes, I do a lot of unbuffed, solo hunting - it isn't hard, you just have to do something moreintelligent than 'walk up and start spamming SS2 on the lair'.

Weapon delay: Well, I don't think 'hysteria' would be too strong a word for some of the comments in this thread. It's not even close to 'game-breaking', it's barely even 'game-altering' if you don't spam weapon changes. Where does all this talk of a '5-second' delay come from? Take some deep breaths, put the coffee down, then stand there and flip between guns a few times. I'd heard3 seconds, but it seems more like 2 seconds to me. Sure, maybe something like a TK KD/dizzy move segueing straight into rifles is gonna be harder - to my mind, that'sa good thing, you shouldn't be able to flip instantaneously between the two.

Anyhow, I'm sure people will calm down - at the moment, I think most people's reactions are more coloured by a general dissatisfaction with SOE than anything else, and as such, people will react more negatively to things than might otherwise be the case. Chill guys, it really isn't that big a deal

I blame Jedi, but then, I usually do

I dont think you guys notice that this also fixed PvP...

People would switch from Mind poison lances, then go to Mind Fire, and such of the type.

It really sucked... trust me.

This is more realistic anyways.

Actually, TK is one class where a delay makes no sense. Your're talknig about KD'ing someone, then shooting him...well, can't I hold a Rifle, kick a guy back, then shoot him? I mean, the idea of fighting unarmed applies to feet and hands, and in RL, a gunfighter can take advantage of unamred moves. In SWG...oh well, what's realistic about this game anyways?

You can wear VKs on your feet?
