Thread: My concerns about the Rifleman rants
well i see only a couple of problems with your statements here. first off all the numbers for the weapons that you pick on here are a little funny. scatter pistol that you have is a good weapon, but i have seen better unsliced. then your laser carbine and t21's are better then any i have seen on my server that are not prepatch.
then you top all of this off with the fact that energy is the single most resisted attack type by mobs in the game. it is nothing to see energy resists at 40%, 60%, or in even 80% on upper level mobs on starter plants. so right off the bat you have cut the damage of a rifleman by half or better on mobs. then when matched up with fact of the x2.5 damage from melee means that we get many fewer hits to take out a target that we need many more hit to take out a target. if we could 1 or 2 hit mobs in pve then i would wouldnt have a problem with the speed limit of 3 but when you are talking about removing all the speed bonus that a rifleman getting from advanced rifle special abilities and forward. then not give them something major to replace these bonus is a joke. on top of all of this you are making rifleman totally useless in pvp in a fight with a pistol person. pistols will have an attack speed maxed out at .5 while rifleman will have a speed of 3 that is a 6 to 1 attack rating. non run speedcovers 8 m per second. so at 64 m i see you and you start running towards me and firing at the same time. as a pistoleer you get bonuses to hit while moving. lets say that you hit me 3 out of the 6 times as you run towards me. a normal hit would do about 50 points of damage but because of the low cost of specials for pistols you are spaming body hit 3 which is a x5 times damage attack so i have just been hit for over 750 points before i have even had a chance to get one shot off. no it is time for me to shot and i fire lets say that the shot that i fire would kill him if i did hit him (just to make it easy) but the target is moving and is now at 40 m in which case i am taking a lost on my to hit. so i miss the target. that means that before i can even get another shot off i have given him 6 more shots at me. lets say but some ungodly twist of fate that he misses me all 6 times (it wont happen, even a noice marksman would hit me during that time), but by the time i get to fire off my last shot he is still moving and he is now at 24 m and i miss him ago because of the range being so close. at this point the pistoleer runs another 8 m and is now only 16 m away and he pulls out some vibro nucklers (after all he is a tk to) and hits me for over a 1000 points of damage because i have a rifle in my hand and kills me. oh this cant happen right? the changes that they are talking about making will max out the weakness of rifleman and increase the strenght of pistoleers a great deal.

I'm on your side, dude, but Riflemen DO reach the speed cap.
The formula for speed is (base weapon speed) x (shot penalty) x (1 - (speedmod/100))
I believe the time penalty for Headshot2 is 1.75.
Example:IF my speed mod is +90, I fire headshot2 with a Laser rifle base speed at 5.4:
then (5.4) x (1.75) x .1 = 0.945
Anyway, maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying. This is nota flame or nuthin, just wanted to be sure you were dealing the right facts to support your args...
