Here's my pet peeve. What kind of 4th rate sniper can't shoot someone from 65 meters away? Our range should increase as our sniping accuracy increases. How are we suppose to be ranged support when we're no more ranged that Billy the Kid & his pistols? IMO a sniper should be able to take someone out at 128 meters (actually more, but I'm tryin to be fair here). With our attack speed, melee penalties, and limited special moves it IS fair. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying have an ideal range of 128, make the ideal range 100 meters, so it starts to drop as you begin to reach the limits of your abilities. And don't tell me this can't happen. We've all beenshot by mobs at great distances.

Rfileman NEEDS upgrading that is obvious.

Number 1: Range to 85M on rifles.
Number 2: Add Rifle SPEED mods, let us shoot very rapidly since our special moves are totally CRAP.
Number 3: We need BIG defense MODS.

Everyone wants their profession to be the best...

Read the other combat forums (well, other than pistoleers) they're all bitching about something. I think pistoleers should be nerfed slightly, we don't need any more bonuses. Who really wants easy one-shot PvP anways? That's not fun.

And why is everyone forgetting sniper shot? Am I the only one who realizes how cool it is to DB from a distance?

Get some 2H sword exp, as (1) it also targets the mind, and (2) it takes virtually no time to stand and switch weapons.

I don't want my profession to be the best, period. But I WANT to be the best at long range and suck at short range - the way we were intended to be. Right now we suck at all ranges - comapred to the pistoleer, BH, and carbinier.

Well, I think we need to ponder a couple of things here.

I've said it before and I'll repeat it: 1. The MAX range you can have in this game is 64m (regardless of the weapon). Its the maximum range the game will support, as its the aggro range of mobs.

That means if they would allow us to shoot from 128m, the mob AI could never find us, meaning we would be able to take down everything without fear of retaliation.

As someone posted here, we have an AOE attack that can hit up to 7 targets (max I have seen from a friend) for around 2500 dmg. Thats something right?

Sniper shot is one of the coolest ability in game.

A master rifleman can fire a T21 once per 1.5 seconds, so we are not gimped on speed.

Sure we suck in melee, isn't that what we are all about.

All in all, I have only3 beef against the rifleman

1.When we are a CH combo, the 35m range for pet xp is gimping us. Come on Dev, I should be able to get pet xp from my ideal range.

2.Fix the T21

3. Add more rifles to suit more playstyles.

We aren't gimped. Our T21 needs fixing. Some of our specials aren't working, but other than that we're fine.

Score a good mind shot on someone.. they are dead. There's isn't really anything they can do about it either. Even if they kill you, they are probably going down. Mind shots do the damage it says you hit for originally every tick once it starts to tick. Armor has nothing to do with it, resistances have nothing to do with it. If you roll a 1200 mind shot, they are taking 1200 points a tick in a few seconds, and nothing short of a master doctor will be able to do anything about it. And even that might be iffy, from what i've seen of first aid it takes a little bit of time to stop a big bleed.

I've killed more than one person by dashing into range, scoring a mind bleed and running like a girl while they die. Many times it only takes 1 tick.

Forcing people up a position is useful.. especially if you do a lot of humanoid NPC fighting. Target Mr. Stormtrooper, Mind shot 2, Mind shot 1, Flurry shot, Head shot.. He will try to get to a prone position right after the flurry shot almost every time, and boom, he falls over. If he manages to get into a prone position somehow, force him up a posture, boom he falls over. Free 3.5-4k rifle xp.

"However, having said all that, having only RIfle as the one skill, is pretty lame as it can only be used for one instance. You do need a back up."

nobody is saying rifle should be uber from all ranges... we fully accept the penalty that we HAVE to be far away from the target. If they get in close and we have no other skill to fall back on... can't complain.

The complaint is that other classes seem to not NEED another class for different situations - the main offender being Pistoleer. Pistols should be EXACTLY as ineffective from max range as our rifles are from melee range. The two skills need to be mirror opposites... with carboneer in the middle. As it is now, pistoleers are JUST AS effective from our range area, if not MORE! But if we riflemen go and fight in the pistoleer's range... we can't compete AT ALL.

The rifleman is basically crap. All we get is damage, and it's not even as good as the pistol's. Try leveling up a pistol guys, you'll quickly find out just how ridiculously overpowered it is. The game's weapon balance is really crap, but no one wants to hear about it.

That's just the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. 64m may be the biggest INTENDED aggro range for mobs, but it isn't, it's bigger. I don't know how big it is because when it happens I'm usually saying **edit** and trying to get away from the unexpected company.

Thats because of the teleport bug, you see the mob at 80m, it aggroes you, but in reality he is at 50m.

The devs have stated many times that the aggro range is 64m and thats why the max weapon range is 64m too.

Agreed. I run around with my radar set to 128m. I've had red dots on the edge of my radar aggro me(roughly 100m away). Sometimes I see the little red arrow indicating an aggro mob is in my way, and I turn to go around it, keeping the dot at the very edge of my radar. There have been times where the mobs will still aggro me. The 64m rangeis probably in there for PvE balancing purposes. PvE would be trivial if we could fire at 128 m.

Hmm, Zelerian's post made it in while I was typing. That is really annoying if its true. The radar is already a bit unreliable, since lag will cause mobs to pop on you. But if you can't even rely on the dots that are there...

Don't know if its true, but its the explanation the Dev's are giving for it.
