You think you should be machine gunners???? So what is a carbineer now? They are machine gunners you are the accurate hard hitters. Perhaps not quite a sniper but a rifleman isnt always a sniper they are just guys with powerful accurate weapons that more importantly are SLOW.

You guys have it pretty good now and you can even kd-dizzy (just take ranged support 4 for suppresion fire).

Well I honestly don't feel we are that over powered in a fully fair battle.A few mods of ours need tweaks to the numbers but that is it, we just get all of our con's taken away by other systems and parts of the game. We were never meant to wear armor and fire specials wiht no cost to ourselves, however, if someone has the money and is a serious PvP'er that is exactly the situation that most riflemen find themselves in which your housemate seems to also fit. Remove the buffs and the amazing armor and you have yourself an interesting match between us any anyone that is likely going to be decided by who gets the first shot or tactical advantages.

Now, as to our role. We are artillery, in a sense, the guys in the machine gun nests decimating the rushing lines of our enemies. We do good damage, quick damage, but not sustained damage. We are supposed to cease firing our damaging shots after 5-6 if you have maxed out mind stats on a human (who is bugged btw). After that we are either dead or you are, or we are kiting like mad and praying we don't die. A carbineers role? The machine gunners as well but they are going to be a little bit closer up, which is why they fare better with melee attackers, and work better in tight corners. They work at crowd control thanks to the area of effect KD and dizzy which we don't have, true we can get suppresion fire but it isn't really that effective in combat and is only on one target if it does magically work, and are able to sustain themselves. While we are the sprinters they are the marathon runners, stimming away the damage that their shots cause themselves. Perhaps they do more then this, I'm not a carbineer but that is what I pick up from their skill tree and from seeing some in action. I plan on making a carbineer on TC so I can get a better grasp of their power actually.

And I still am at a loss as to why we are supposed to be the slow firing profession. Assault rifles are extremely fast since they are fully automatic, carbines as well, pistols can be full auto but it is a rarity. Also we fire strafeshot 2 at once every 2.5 seconds so we aren't hitting the 1 second cap anyway unless we spend extra skill points and/or millions of credits.

Because there IS no sniper class in the game. Basically, rifleman is a carbineer by another name right now. There's no conceptual difference really. I appreciate the "heavy machine gunners" that do there bit then are done, but... I dunno, it doesn't seem very unique. I want to see some real variety, a sniper class would be that. What's unique about a commando if riflemen are the artillery? What place does a commando have vs a carbineer, or a pistoleer vs a rifleman, in the current setup? They're almost all the same...

Whats the point of being a sniper if you have to be within 64m to hit something? Anyone else think range should be increased?

As much as the role of sniper fits my game play style, I recognize that there is no way they are ever going to put that ability in the game, and we, as riflemen, need to recognize that and adapt.

Why will this never be put in the game? What does a sniper do? He sneaks in undetected. He shoots, and he one-hit kills the target. Then he slips out undetected.

Can you imagine the nerf cries if any profession in the game was allowed, not only to one-hit kill people, but todo so in a way that they could never see it coming and their friends could not respond? Even if it takes multiple shots. Do you really think that they are going to let us kill people without them being able to fire back? Neither of these things will ever happen.

Therefore, we have to accept that we will never really be snipers. They will never give us a one-hit kill ability. They already thing battles take too short of time and are changing it so that it they will take longer. Neither will theyextend the range of the weapons, at least not until technology changes, because to extend the range of weapons, they would have to extend the awareness range of the AI, the distance at which things spawn, and all sorts of other things that will chew up precious server resources. People complain about lag in big cities now. Imagine if they doubled the spawn distance, also doubling thenumber of objects yourcharacter had to keep track of! Besides, melee characters already get shot to pieces trying to run 64m to get to us now, and usually do not make it all the way to us. Image if they had to run twice that distance.

And because we are weak to melee, inaccurate at close range, and have a limited range in which we can fight, we are given more of the machine gunner role. And that is how it should be.

Besides, we can still do the role of a modified sniper, especially in PvP. For instance, last night in a big battle defending a base, I skirted the edge of the battle out of range of the enemy. I found a target who was occupied and had his attention elsewhere. So I slipped into range, and started shooting him. It was not a one hit kill by any stretch of the imagination, but he was so intent on what he was doing, I was able to completely drain his mind bar before he got the idea he was in serious trouble and by the time he turned to run, he was incapped and snipershot.

The bottom line is that what we want as a sniping profession will never be put in the game, and if they give us anything remotely resembling it, this profession will be so totally gimped as to be useless. If they did make us snipers, they would give us huge delays on our weapons, but we would still not be able to one hit kill them, and they would be better able to run up on us even eaiser. Give up the idea, it will only hurt us.

150 is a bit out of control. 80m would be a good distance, but AOE should be 64m.

conserning cover in PvP, We should be able to pull off one or two shots from cover before becoming visible on radar. This would allow us to have some real sniping skill, but wouldn't make us an invisble gun.

If they are going to make pistoleers able to use "dual-pistols", then we should also get something. Thought with dual use the aim is oging to be like crap, it sitll is something.

Thats odd my friend fires Strafe Shot 2 at once a second without any problem hes got master marksman with it and a small speed tape to cap up. He can fire even the slowest of rifles that fast. Its only like a +3 tape as well. Perhaps you guys should be heavy machine guns but there needs a little more balancing to it as you out do pistols and carbines by far. If not your speed gets lowered what else should be lowered to make you more in line?

I think range needs to be increased especially if the speed cap and HAM changes go live

I think we definitely need to have the radar range increased now to maybe increments of 75m so we can actually use it as rifleman

a few of the rifles and definately rocket launchers (come on its a rocket) should get an extension of range. t-21 and the disruptor for sure should get an extension as its in the second page of skills. as for the laser rifle no. lots of people can cert a laser rifle. cert just the advanced weapons to longer range atleast to the range of a standard range experimented poison (its only fair)

i am smuggler, fear my cork guns
episode II: i am no longer smuggler i no longer fear the cork guns or the delay on the delay for the revamp.. leave a message after the beep when revamp comes and then i shall return. but then maybe i will show them and do a delay on my return.. ha!!! take that soe (if they have not frustrated me more then i already am)

Ladies and Gentlemen, let's be brutally honest.

The problem in PVP overall is the fact that EVERYONE can target EVERYONE via the radar. Do I want to be a sniper? Sure, but it isn't going to happen. Game mechanics just don't allow for it.

That being said, I believe that getting rid of radar for ALL classes in PVP period would solve all the problems. I mean come on now. TKA's hate being just TKAs because everyone kites them. Carbineers hate it because it's hard to kill a fully buffed HAM pool especially going against a Rifleman (We are as it stands the only profession that's really fixed overall).

If you got rid of RADAR everyone would be happy (well as happy as the whiners can be). Everyone would have the chance to sneak up and kill their opponent, everyone would have the chance to mobilize and engage via tactics not just simple "charge, spamshot/tosspoison/retreat, rinse repeat."

But let's face it. We're not going to get something this profound. I mean, we still can shoot through terrain. The day I can stop hitting the red dot on my radar 64m away BEHIND a friggin hill..or the day i can jump into a ditch and actually avoid fire...then I'll begin to think PVP is going in the proper direction.

For now, if you want true PVP action go find a twitch based game. Cause this isn't it.
