The 2.5x penalty would be fine if we didn't have the same range as a pistol. I understand I will be a god among men at master, but right now I feel pretty weak compared to my droid engineer buddy who uses a pistol. A few nights ago we had some flits spawn on us, he calmly stood there and took the flit out in a few shots.

I got incapped because I was taking tremendous damage from every peck.
