Thread: conceal shot and the nature of the game
I'm surprised that a rifleman has been able to solo a krayt (without pets) using concealshot. I've tried 3 times and been DBed 3 times. The **edit** thing usually broke my maskscent within a coupleshots, then smacked me with its tail not too long after that.
Yes, it's a powerful shot, but it is soooo slow. If you take it away, riflemen will have to become CHs to be able to go solo hunting again.

It is hard for me to judge the effect on non-masters since I got to master before this was fixed. As a master I do use it but not a lot. Of course I am a 3344 CH (heading for master CH) so my experience will be different than that of non-CH riflemen. For me it is a nice way to clear away BAF agro adultswithout disturbing the baby I want to tame. But I can walk in there with mask scent instead, so it is more of a risk limmitingtactic than anything else.
I used conceal shot alot and now that I have flushing 2 I don't use it at all.
Conceal shot is a wonderful shot for novices to work their way up to x-x-3-x and get their AOE, but to farm kryats with it or any other elite MOB? Shissit, just give me an ATST and Mind Shot 1 & 2 and I'm set.
Conceal Shot is not 100% effective, I say 3 out of every tenMOBs it fails on me. Second you have to be on your toes when you use it, if a MOB starts to get too close you better clear than peace and move back to 60m distance. If you don't 2 misses and your dead.
No conceal shot does not need a nerfing, if it does well then so does feign death and all pets and hell you might as well include P-Darts in trapping too.
If I am a sniper, 200 feet from a krayt, which is about the size of a small moon, and I am taking 5 seconds to hit the bloody thing, and I wait again, and fire, and so on and so forth, I better not miss. I couldn't call myself a rifleman if I couldn't hit the thing. Conceal shot is the only thing the rifleman get that is worthwhile at lower levels, and even then, we end up face up in the sand. My friend, a TK master can rush in and take out 6 or 7 stormies at a time, and come out not too badly hurt. I, however, can't take out 1 stormy without murdering my own mind pool. I think that conceal shot is fine. If you don't like the fact that we can do in 45 minutes what every other friggin combat profession in the game can do in 3, then sorry, its just that way.

I can't believe that some of you are calling for this to get nerfed. Obviously you guys have no clue of what a sniper is. A sniper can patiently take shots at something over and over (mind you patiently) and still not be detected. Most military sniper schools require that the sniper candidate come within a fairly close distant of a target and shoot it twice without being detected by a trained spotter and walker (someone the spotter moves to find the shooter).
Now, we know they aren't going to give us the distance we should have (not anytime soon) so, let us have this and quit calling for a nerf on yourselves. If they do nerf it, it will be far worse than what you request. If I were a developer and I were told to nerf this after all the whining I have seen on this site, all of us would quit rifleman to become the profession of town drunk.
STOP NERFING FOR A FEW MONTHS AND BUILD SKILLS UP TO BALANCE. Then take another look and see what needs to be nerfed.

Just a minor point, but anyone getting to master rifleman before the city/mount patch did it without conseal shot at all since they only fixed it in that release.
However, I am not at all advocating nerfing it. I think it is a great boost to novice riflemen, who prior to the fix got very little prior to hitting xx3x. I am not sure why this ability is being focused on. Can master riflemen solo Krayts? I am sure that with propper buffs/drugs and a good weapon we probably can. Is it the only exploitable combination in the game? Far from it. And while your chances of missing while prone are near nil at master, there is still a chance. Some other methods of taking down Krayts actually require less time, less risk and less skillpoint investment than master rifleman.
Doing last step of act 2 solo ( and solo means without pet !) is normal?
Soloing lvl 31 rebel/imp missions with a 1-1-0-1 rifleman?
Killing easy red mobs that normal baf?
In my opinion this skill is to strong now. But I also would ask for a nerf too all tank pets ....
Both are not good for the game.
And No I not master yet but will be in sometime and No I don't use pets for tanking because it is boring.

I soloed the last step of Act 2 before the social aggro changes went in. I did it without Conceal Shot, and just used Mind Bleeds, kiting, and the "shoot at one from out of range to draw off his buddies" trick.
That would be the "shoot at one from out of range to draw off his buddies" trick that the social aggro changes fixed.
