Thread: The real reason they're going to nerf Rifles...
Riflemen have nearly unblockable access to the only non-healable pool in the game. A viable counter needs to be made, or something will get a nerf. If the mind stops becoming a nearly unhealable pool (i.e. normal stims heal mind once again) or if even something as simply as a viable armor that ISN'T vulnerable to stun (like making PSGs work correctly, consistently, and without dying in 3 hits) then riflemen won't be overpowered. As it stands, they are unbalanced.

not so true anymore... i have in the last few days been running into what i consider a rifle buff template

stun helm + psg + vasarian brandy + moun + entertainer + canape.... maybe he had powerbuff or what everelse tk's use on as well
head shot = nothing on them....
I was shredded (he caught me in the theed starport....) (ran for the exit but didn't make it)
Tell that to a fencer who slaughtered me cause he had a stun helm and PSG on.

plus.. if you miss lots.. you really are screwed with a 3 sec wait. DPS is going to go to hell.. especially if the damage multipliers on specials are also getting reduced.
cant see how loweringnumberof attack per min, and a lower overall damage per shot is fair.
unless....
they also fixAP.. so that the heavy AP behaves as it does in RL.. ripping great big holes in targets ![]()
one can only dream i guess.

Really now, I'd like to see a one-for-one comparision to typical weapons and skill set for all the combat classes. You don't "dabble" in Rifleman, foo. You get away with that crap in other profs but not here. We kind of like it that way.

I don't think we should be nerfed though, I think before they nerf us they need to fix others then take a long hard look at whether we need nerfing or not after that. Of course that's the smart thing to do so it won't happen. ![]()
There is one prevailing reason that we are "overpowered" and that is the utter futility involved in attacking health or action. Is it somehow our fault that the only pool hard to buff and protect is the one that we get to attack? Is it also our fault that the pools you attack are the easiest to get buffed to 3,000? If I"m not buffed I would likely be killed in 2 shots from a pistol(not a carbine since I'm a bothan and we have somewhat high action minimums![]()
due solely to the fact that I have no stats other then mind. However this negative of mine is ignorable thanks to buffs. The major HAM costs we have to suffer is also ignorable thanks to buffs. So what does this tell me? That the buff system killed combat, not us.
Oh and armor needs to be looked at again, I mean everything needs to have a few weaknesses and a few pro's as it is if you aren't in stun layered composite you might as well not be wearing armor at all because everything else is useless.
Oh, and tell me your strategy for killing him. Did you use concealshot to soften him up a bit then go at it full auto?![]()
